I have an iJoy Reaper+ that I intended to use the RTA component of instead of the pre-made coil heads that come with it. Is the 'coil cap' (I don't know what else to call it..) necessary? I wrapped a 1 ohm coil, installed it, wicked it, and primed it. It reads as expected on a Coil-Master ohm reader, a 'real' DMM, and the istick mod that I intend to use it on, but I can't get the 'coil cap' to screw on levelly, or really at at all. I suspect this is because I am using only one coil in the assembly, but I really have no idea. The manual doesn't say much other than to put the ends of the wick in the 'wick holes' on the bottom of the base. I've watched quite a few video tutorials on youtube, but they're all about dual coil sub ohm builds, which don't interest me at all. I'm thinking I might have to shop around for a different RTA, but I'd like to use this one since I have it..

Are you talking about the part on the right of this picture?

Yes, you ABSOLUTELY need that on. If it doesnt't fit your coil is too big or you have cotton blocking the threading. If the coil is too big, just make a smaller coil and if you have wick in the threads, you can fix this by putting juice on the wicks before you screw on the top and gently making sure they are in the jucie channels. Don't cram the juice channels with wick, that will make it suck up juice poorly. Most RBA wicks should lie in the juice channels without needing to be compressed for optimal wicking.

Yep. I figured out that the coil was too big, and that's why the cap wouldn't fit on right. After I removed the coil, it fit on just fine.. Do you or anyone else know if I can put two coils serial on that post? I'm just starting rebuilding and learning about it, and I think that post is parallel only. I've been browsing a few threads here and I'm certain I'm gonna get the Wotofo Serpent Mini.

    Thanks

Ya, I guess I was right on that. I'm going to build another coil later. All I have right now is 24 gauge wire, and I intend to use a 3mm jig. That's the ID of the coils that came with this thing. They're .4 & .3, way too low for my taste. A sub-ohmer I am not! The steam-engine site is quickly becoming my new best friend..

    Thanks again bud.
