Hey all,

I recently picked up two IKV io6 3.5ohm atomizers along with their specialized drip tip.

First one was pretty bunk, looks like I got a bad one, it happens.

The second one worked rather well for a few minutes before bed, however when I plugged it in the next day it wouldn't fire. Curious, I tried my best to pull it off the incredibly tight fitting drip tip. Ended up pulling out the guts, leaving the metal shell inside.

Good news is, it works again. Bad news is, the shell is stuck inside of the drip tip with about almost zero exposure outside of the tip. Impossibile to get out so far.

Even putting on the tip in the first place required a massive amount of effort, and really put a lot of pressure on the threads of my mod.

I followed all the instructions provided with the drip tip, turning clockwise, e-liquid lube, pressure, etc. But these things really left a sour taste in my mouth for a 30$ combined price + shipping.

Was wondering if anyone had a better experience or could offer some tips if I decide to take another shot at these guys?

I've had my IKV gold style 3.5 ohm atomizers for a year and they are still going, however I can't help but feel this was a bad buy.

Thanks for your input,

Grey

PS: 3.5 Ohm atomizer recommendations also appreciated!

Similar thing happened to me with my first io6 and drip tip but mine was too loose. When i received them i tried to fit the drip tip but it was to loose so i had to reshape the drip tip to not fall off of it every time i tilted my pv or get stuck to my lips. Ok that was a simple fix. Than i dripped 4 drops in it waited a minute and added another two. First drag was terrible with some weird after taste. I was expecting this because on forums people were reporting this kind of aftertaste but they were saying it was supposed to disappear after i while. Well after two days of waping it was still there. Ontop of that i was getting juice in my mouth constantly. I had enough and thought that's it, this thing is going to the garbage unless i can fix it. This is what i did. I cut a 510 cartomizer the same size as the drip tip that came with the io6 but the tube was too wide so i taped a layer of scotch tape on the io6 body and slipped over the peace which made it a perfect fit. Than i poured about a liter of boiling water through the atomizer and blew the excess out with a compressor. Than used one of my regular drip tips from a 510 atomizer which fit perfectly since now the io6 has a 510 carto body, which i prefer since i like to take off the drip tip when i drip. Than i dropped in 5 drops of juice waited a minute and another two drops. The first drag was the cleanest i have ewer had and its been like that for the last three days and no juice in the mouth once. Hope that helps.

I don't have anything to say that would solve your situation, but if your other atomizer has lasted so long (!wow) i figure you are ahead of the game...
What i do say about the i06, and what many vets have to say is that yes, it is one of the best atomizers ever, but it has had some issues:
1. you can't even get them now as the store is having problems
2. the drip tip was a fiasco; only solved by aftermarket sleeves, special drip tips
3. some of the units came metered wrong
4. the draw on some are tighter than the normaly slightly stiff draw
5. the first runs had some flowery primer taste

but with all these strikes, why does the i06 still come out on top of the list of choices?
Not only did Isaac remedy most of the issues, it's still the go-to atty for "closest to an analog" experience.
The vapor and flavor are great (granted you match resistance to the voltage).

Shoot Iken an email and/or pm... he is known for being a great guy and great CS. He is undergoing a hell of a problem legally with being defrauded ... the store is still not open after being shut down for a long while a couple months ago for other reasons.
Ikenvape is a standard that so many vapers look up to...
What you are dealing with is sort of a normal operating hickup that most vendors deal with in their CS, QC aspects. If Isaac can, he'll fix it for you.
