Hey all. I got some things in today from IKV including some 306 atties. I'm trying to use them but they don't seem to screw all the way down onto my ProVari. I know they work but they aren't firing and the atomizer checker is reading 'Open" indicating that there is no atomizer installed.

Any tips on how to get these to work on a ProVari?

Hey Digs. I had the same problem with IKV HV306's on my ProVari when I first got it. What I discovered was that if I wiggled the atty a little when it stopped, it would thread down a little more and fire. I can't explain how or why but it worked, and still works as this is my go to atty (when not using fusions) on my ProVari;

Good to know... So far, I've tried four of Isaac's 306 lr attys (actually six if I include hubby). All have worked well but one. I thought it was DOA, but I'll try using a paper clip to pull out the center a little bit. If it doesn't work, that's okay. I'm so happy to have at atty last over two weeks, especially since I use 50/50 pg/vg.

i've also seen most of my IKV 306's be resistant to screwing all the way down on a 510 thread (Riva SE in my case) initially. with some force (careful!) all but one ended up going and becoming easier to screw/unscrew over time. One just flat out has refused so far.

i'm thinking the 306 may actually be threaded DARN SIMILAR BUT NOT EXACTLY IDENTICAL to the 510?

Hey guys,

I am having a very similar problem with the 306 atomizers as well. Both of my 306 fit and will screw down on all of my mods, but neither of them will work on ANY of my mods without an adaptor. There was a point in time where I had the 306 working on my BB for about 15 minutes but then it refuses to work after that, even with an adaptor. I can only get it to work with an adaptor on my Chameleon and even still it has now stopped working completley. I checked the resistance on these atomizers and they seem to be normal... right at 3.5 ohms. I can pull the center pin up a bit but this does not seem to be working. After I pull it up and screw it on you can tell the center pin is contacting because when I take the atomizer back out the pin has been pushed back in.

So do I just have funky mods or what is going on here? I really miss using my 306 they vape SO GOOD!

on my reo grand i actually used pliers to convince the atty to go lower and shes been working good, its been about 7 days. im going to leave it on till it goes bad and im sure ill need pliers to remove it too.

i cant remember exactly who posted it but someone said to lightly go over the atty threads with a sandpaper. i havent tried it yet but when its time for me to use another 306 im fairly confident the sandpaper method will work. i wish i knew who had said that so i could give them the credit for it.

weird thing is i have 1 cisco 306 and that one screws on my silver bullet and my reo grand perfectly.

There is definitely some funny stuff going on here, no pun intended.

I will start off with the Chamelion connector, this may help. When was the last time the connectors were disassembled and cleaned? They require at a minimum a bi-weekly maintenance - a quick trip in jewelery cleaner and woila bam :) Taking a rubber eraser to the negative post (bottom cap) as well as the top sector (top and bottom) also pays dividends. If the brass is shiny = good conductivity, if it is dull = not so good.

Also another tip: If your batteries seem to be getting warm and the atty gets unusually hot (hotter than normal) you have a connectivity problem. That is why I like mechanical mods, they are easy to troubleshoot :)

This is good that this stuff gets reported. Are these second batch 306 or 1st batch? I have yet to have a problem with any of them. They have worked flawlessly on:

  • P18 and P10;
  • Screwdriver MKI;
  • Chamelion;
  • Omega;
  • Silver Bullet;
  • eGo;
  • std 510 batteries;
  • all my box mods;
  • GLV2; and
  • Icon;

I do not own a ProVari so I cannot comment on that. I do know that on the Icon they did not go all the way, but that was also a disclaimer on the PS site. However they did fire.

WRT maintenance I cannot emphasize it enough. I acquired the P10, Icon, SB and GLV2 off the classifieds as a package deal (for a steal). After reception I knew whay they were on the classifieds. I PMd buddy and ask him when was the last time maintenance was done on them. He stated never. That was painfully obvious. The threads were gunked up, the connectors were oxidized etc...

After a thorough cleaning they all performed like champs. Buddy had acquired these in a trade, and had only used them a couple of times each. I can see why. The P10 was the one that really caused me concern has I had a P18 and the P10 was performing like a "mall ecig".

There maybe some underlying reasons (different reasons) but I share what I know and hope this helps, if niot here it is guaranteed to pay dividends elsewhere. :vapor:

Thanks Switched,

I will go ahead and clean them. I have not cleaned them since I got it from these forums. The brass connectors do seem a bit dull. What do you recommend, a bath and a little scrub in rubbing alcohol? I do not have a jewelry cleaner.

I will report my results.

oh by the way the mods I have are:

BB from Altsmoke
Chameleon from Ikenvape
VV boxmod from Madvapes

and used on my Cousin's mod a roughstack from Madvapes and a standard 510 e-cigarette battery.

Hey Scorched,

If you have a rotating toothbrush, using it on your brass adapters with some whitening toothpaste works wonders in making brass shine like new again. Isaac told me about this method a while back and I was pleasantly surprised how well it worked with very little effort.

Yup! tooth paste will work as it is a mild abrasive (read mild) same as an eraser and or course jewelery cleaner is a mild corrosive. The important thing is to disassemble the atty connectors, keeping the parts separate (e.g do one connector at a time) it only takes 30 seconds and a quick brush will a tooth brush, rinse under water and they look like new brass. JC is available everywhere they sell jewelery and is dollars a jar.

Can't speak for the VV box mod, but the BB is SB's little brother and sometimes the positive post on the battery sits too low and it requires tugging on the post of the atty for proper contact. All of Altsmoke's connectors are commercial connectors and should work.

Hey guys,
We have the manufactures attention here on this thread which is a very good thing for all of us. They are asking if any of you guys with 306 problems would be kind to post some pictures of this problem so they can see what's going on. If anyone could, that would be great. I will be more than happy to accept any that don't fit in place for replacements of any type or future 306 models. :)

Over There
Here are a few pics of the reasons why the the latest batch (or atleast the ones I recieved) of 306's do not work properly I have included the 306LR and the 306HV I have tried them in multiple different batteries and mods and none of them will allow the 306's to seat properly I also included a properly seated (other brand) 306 LR to show that its not my hardware that is causing the problem.

I used the pics with a standard 510 battery because they show the problem more clearly. They do however allow the Ikenvape 306's to screw in the furthest of any of the units but still not far enough to fire it.

Isaac if this is not what you were referring to when you said pictures let me know and I will edit my post.

For anyone who is a fan of the 306 and have not yet tried or are having problems with Ikenvape's 306's I recommend that you be patient with this little setback as they are well worth the wait. I am not sure what he does differently with them but his atties including the 510's are hands down in my opinion the best attie's on the market not to mention his customers service is nothing short of incredible.

The problem and photo has been reported to the mfr. I'm sure when info is available it will be posted. It is not uncommon for certain attys to not fit certain devices e.g non JoyE attys on the V3 and Icon. PS has a disclaimer on his site wrt this. OTOH I have not had this experience to date, but did notice that the 1.8Ohm mini leaks when compared to the 2Ohm. As this was reported, the mfr came clean and stated they tried something, without Isaac being in the know. I am not saying this is what is happening here.

If you are strictly talking about making these unit go on all the way, some have reported taking a small jewelers file and filing the threads a bit with great success. Not at IKV but some thread I have ran across a couple of months ago. Hope this helps :)
