This looks like a Lorillard sponsored bill (because it defines an e-cig as an "alternative nicotine product").
I urge all Illinois vapers and e-cig companies to support this bill, which is in the IL Senate Criminal Law Cmte.

I get carded about 90% of the time when I purchase from Illinois vendors, probably since I look pretty young lol. I only occasionally get carded here in Indiana.

Do online vendors currently comply with the requirements of the online sales of ecigs? Just a question I have no idea if this is already done or not.

In reality, there is no way that they can. When you enter the website of an online vendor, you cannot get in unless you tell them that you are over eighteen. What good that does, I don't know. All they can do if busted, is say "He lied."

I've been told that the age verification software required by Section 1.5 of this law costs a minimum of $300 a month from LexisNexis.

If enacted, it may behoove smaller vendors who want to be in compliance with the law to pool resources (i.e., come under the same umbrella) to defer this expense.

Meh, I know that age verification over the internet is usually spotty at best. Any idea if this system actually works? Seems to me it favors those with deeper pockets. Mom and pop shops 300 bucks a month could be burdensome.

Not as bad as what they wanted to do here in Utah, and other places as well.
