IL Vapers and vendors should oppose these bills (as there's no evidence youth are stealing e-cigs from IL retailers).
The only reason I and several others began advocating laws to ban self service cigarette displays at convenience/grocery/pharmacy retailers two decades ago was because we found RJ Reynolds documents explaining the company's marketing to youth strategy by putting self serve cigarette displays in the store aisles (as they found that lots of children were stealing the products).
But if either of these bills gains traction in the legislature, vape shops in IL should urge legislators to amend these bills to also exempt retailers that primarily sell "alternative nictine products" and that don't allow minors into their stores.
It should also be pointed out that these bills hypocritically only apply to e-cigs (but not cigars or smokeless tobacco, whose "past month use" by minors is greater than e-cigs).
