So a couple days ago I was vaping on some new 80% pg 20% vg juice on a new LR BOGE cartomizer with my joye 510. I noticed the throat hit was exceptionally harsh. So far I've only been vaping 50%pg 50% vg juices. While vaping the 80/20 my lungs got REALLY tight and I was having a difficult time breathing. I also noticed my sinuses felt weird. I rarely get sick and the next day I felt HORRIBLE. My sinuses, lungs and head hurt like hell and my throat was really dry. I was wondering if the high % PG caused this or if possibly the juice was too old? Obviously it could be unrelated but it seemed like there was a direct correlation with the vaping and the illness.

In response to your ?'s - sometimes, vendors may have a run on "bad" juices, juices are usually good to go for about 1-2 years if stored properly.

It seems to me that that the problem started after vaping juice with increased PG. You might be allergic to it in high doses. The symptoms certainly sound like it. Also, you might only be able to vape small amounts of PG. Going from 50% VG to 80% PG is quite a jump.

Another possiblility is if you switched vendors for juice. Is this a new vendor for you?

For example, even though I'm allergic to PG juices, for some reason, I can vape DeKang with little side effects. I've also noticed that if I DIY with any brand other than NOW VG, I get the same reactions to vaping PG.

So - try switching down to a lower PG - up the VG and see if that works.

Ya im going to try that. Unfortunately this is the only juice I have right now. It was a gift from a friend. I did muster up some cash and order some FSUSA strawberry. I got 18mg one with 100% VG and one 100% pg so i can mix them and find out my perfect pg/vg %. I have to say though. I really get bothered when people say "please give me free stuff cause I dont have money to buy vape juice and if i dont get some freebies im going to smoke analog again" Thats just pathetic! Obviously if you dont have $10 to throw down on juice, you shouldn't be able to afford analogs? I quit smoking ONLY to save money and found that it was better than I thought. I have to say I'm really sick of peopel taking advantage of PIFers with the "help or i'll buy analogs" crap. Peave and love :D

I agree entirely...this does sound like the very COMMON sensitivity to PG. I get the exact same symptoms from PG. I only vape VG juices. Never have these issues with VG, as it does not dry me out chemically, like PG does. Some are fine with PG. Not me, and not a lot of others here on ECF. BTW, I do not think this is an "allergy". An allergy is an immune response to a foreign antigen, like pollen or cat dander. This is a chemical response, milder, but little different than getting burned by strong acid, which is certainly not an allergic reaction to acid. PG is just drying out mouth and mucosa chemically, and elevating the lactic acid in those areas, causing soreness over time. This is chemical, not immunological.

I agree entirely. I have some bad hayfever allergies and I the PG "allergy" talk never seemed accurate. Your explanation seems to make perfect sense!
