Nope, not everyone is a reader. And if he does read, what type of reading he does will be imortant. If its SyFy I got it! I read other things now and again as well!
I love the syfy more than anything! i just got the entire Robert Heinlein collection for the kindle (gift from the mom) and spend every free minute pouring over it. Also just finished 2 Chuck Palahniuk books: Fight club and Choke (actually 3 but I thought snuff was pretty bad compared to his others). just downloaded Michio kakus physics of the impossible and looking forward to reading that one as well.

Hi AG---just reading the posts and checking in to give hugs. Wow-----I thought the description you gave of Afghanistan was very, very interesting--loved reading it, even tho it made me realize what a miserable place for you guys it is. I knew it was tribal and remote and backwards...but not the extent you are describing. Modern day Barberians! I would love to learn more, so if you ever feel like sharing again...I am sure we all would like that. It really helps to get a better image of what our guys are dealing with.

I can't even come up with any clever, witty words to leave you with. I just want you all to come back to us, NOW. Well, I am getting ready to tear up again....better go before I get this post all soggy. Lots of love coming to tent city from me.

I'll update some more as I meet more people. I refuse to believe that the whole country is like that so I want to give it more of a chance. We do however have some locals that do mine sweeping here that are cool as hell. When the little beeper goes off, theses guys put their little plastic mask on and chip at the dirt with a pickaxe! they know what will happen if they hit pay dirt, but they'll joke about it and keep on poking at land mines.

He rocks. I like his take on physics.

Try downloading some Jack Chalker, the Well of Soul series or Steven King the Dark Tower. Two of my all time favorite Sci Fi fantasy series. Although I shouldn't be suggesting books, I am still only of page 8 of the Game of Thrones and I started that in March.

Good Morning AG... (did I get it right) Hope all is well there.

PM sent 2 hrs ago...just waiting for a reply.
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I was in a frenzy to grab a Buzz tank before they sold out. I sent you a PM back.

Aside from his novel approach to it, he is great at dumbing it down for people like me that know nothing more of physics than gravity hurts if you don't use it right :)
Yea, that's the other thing I like about him. He makes it easy for everyone to understand.

I am loving Game of Thrones... to bad it will be the better part of a year before it comes back. I know the book is always better, but I think I am going to just give up on it. Seeing as they cancel every show I enjoy and it doesn't look like they are going to cancel this one, I think I am going to just enjoy the show while it is on. Maybe I'll pick up the books later. (but the first 8 pages of the book were good)

The Jack Chalker books are wonderful. The first book in the series (if memory serves) is Mid Night at the Well of Souls. He has written several other series, but the well of souls books are the best.

And if the fact that Steven King wrote the Dark Tower series turns you off, don't be. I know some find King to be a bit mainstream bubble gum writing. These books are completely different then ANYTHING he has written. These books are his magnus opus. He started the first book in 1970 and finished the last in 2004. His goal was to create an epic fantasy like Tolken did with the lord of the rings and he accomplished that. The books are a mixture of Fantasy, Science Fiction with a little Western and a bit of horror!

The Chalker books are my all time favorite, I have read the series a few times since 1984. The King series is the first I have liked as much since. Not sure which is my favorite now. I guess the tie goes to the Chalker books because they have been my favorite for 27 years and I just recently read the King books.

Definately give them a chance!! Not much scifi mostly fantasy. But I never met a scifi reader that didn't appreciate a good fantasy novel and this is a good fatasy novel.

The reason I was reluctant is because I am not a huge King fan. I've read a bunch of his books, but I have always found him light reading. Something to take on a plane and not have to get invested in on my trip when I was enjoying other things. Basically a book I can put down. I have a bad habbit of getting nothing else accomplished when I am really into a book. So when I need a book to read that I dont care to much about and won't get in the way of a vacation for example King and Grisham are men. That is how I luckily came across the Gunslinger. I found it at an airport and thought it would be perfect. I was flying to Atlanta to throw a house warming party for my best friend. I spent the house warming party in a corner trying to read just a few more pages. I wasn't a very good host!
