My favorite writer is Koontz. I'm not a reader but I read them. I love his books. Shadowfires was great. Oh and also Odd Thomas that has been in a few of his books.

AG, I might have to send you a box of books for the Library or you may even like a few. One of my very favorites is Swans Song an older one by Robert McCammon. I have read it several times now so it may be time to pass it on. I have another By McCammon that you may like called Stinger. I have a ton of Dean Koontz that I have read many times and may need to just pass them along :)

Hey AG and all: The Danielle Steel references were meant to be a joke......sorry. They are just light fluffy, romantic, very girly girl, and I was laughing out loud to myself as I was writing that post. Picturing all those young virile guys sitting all around the tent, each with a Danielle Steel book in his manly hands. Maybe you guys did not think it was funny, but it has given me one heck of a laugh. I am still laughing.....I hope you did not already tell the guys that a big box of Danielle Steel books were coming their way.

And I am still laughing.....the picture in my mind is awesome.

:D I thought so. But I was thinking like moorea and not wanting to offend, I was even gonna try and read it since I never have even read the back of one of hers yet (try).

King does have some good short stories. My favorite I believe was from "Everything's Eventual" but I don't remember what story it was. It might have been the one the book of short stories was entitled after... Everything's Eventual.

And of course if we are talking King shorts someone has to mention The Body!

I really wasn't sure if she was joking or not, that is why I threw in as politely as I could that I didn't care for romance novels, hoping that AG would catch that in case he didn't realize that is what they were before he started handing them out!

You like scifi and short stories. Check out Robert Heinleins "green hills of earth" great collection of short stories

I will add that to my "to read" list. At the moment I really do not have any right suggesting books and pretending I am a reader. I have been in a reading funk. As I said I started Game of Thrones in march and I am still on page 8! I just haven't had time to dive into a book. The only reason I can spend so much time here is because while I am posting I am watching files upload or download on the other screen!

only one of mccammon's books my site has is boys life salem, just downloaded it

I am going to have to look that one up. I don't recall reading that one and his older books are better than his newer IMO.

Of course many of the newer books are retitled older books. That drives me crazy trying to figure out if I read it or not. But we have quite a time keeping my mom in books that she has not read. We hit every book exchange within a 50 mile radius and still no luck sometimes. lol

Here is the description of my very favorite book by R McCammon see if it interests you

Facing down an unprecedented malevolent enemy, the government responds with a nuclear attack. America as it was is gone forever, and now every citizen—from the President of the United States to the homeless on the streets of New York City—will fight for survival.

Swan Song is Robert McCammon’s prescient and “shocking” (John Saul) vision of a post- Apocalyptic nation, a grand epic of terror and, ultimately, renewal.

In a wasteland born of rage and fear, populated by monstrous creatures and marauding armies, earth’s last survivors have been drawn into the final battle between good and evil, that will decide the fate of humanity: Sister, who discovers a strange and transformative glass artifact in the destroyed Manhattan streets . . . Joshua Hutchins, the pro wrestler who takes refuge from the nuclear fallout at a Nebraska gas station . . . And Swan, a young girl possessing special powers, who travels alongside Josh to a Missouri town where healing and recovery can begin with Swan’s gifts. But the ancient force behind earth’s devastation is scouring the walking wounded for recruits for its relentless army, beginning with Swan herself. . . .

I just noticed the hardcover is selling new for $400 and $200 for used at Amazon Sheesh!

Good Evening AG. Hope your work day is going well, and you are keeping busy enough for time to fly.

I have been doing some shopping...I want to include some CDs in the box of Danielle Steel books for those of you who like reading those. So I have thrown in Steel Magnolias, Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally, and Legally Blonde. I know those will be just as big a hit as those books.

Was good to see you last night at TT's place----hope you pop in often and soon. There are some good laughs there.

Civilian hugs to you and all the other tent city boys. Love incoming.

If you mean uploading and downloading files, yup. I design and manage websites. I've been working on a project moving a HUGE website over to a dedicated server. There are other things involved, but the bulk of the project has been moving the files down from the old server then back up to the new!

I thought I read that HP is getting out of making computers.

Harmon Kardon rocks!

Oh and good evening AG! Hope all is well.
