My Boge 2.0's last about a day or two (if that) before I have to change them. Does anyone know why that is?
Well, it's a problem. The thick, dark extracted juices that we love (like Vaperite's Organic and Perique) will clog our stuff faster than the thin clear juices. Particularly if they are run hot via low resistance, high voltage or simply "hot boxing" by chain vaping. As we vape it leaves behind residue that crystallizes in a sludge on both the heating element and the filler. As we continue to vape it cooks this goo until becomes hard, clogging the draw tube and coating the filler so that it doesn't adsorb as much juice. What to do?
Well, you can clean the carto or atty regularly via many methods (check around on ECF and youtube for examples of boiling, flushing and ultra sonic cleaning). I prefer to take a little preventative action, stretching my carto use out to several days, then toss them in a box to await cleaning(or more likely, the trash can). Note: this is from my experience with KR-808ds and Vaperite 50/50 tobacco, YMMV.
Cut the juice with 10-30% PG. Doesn't change the taste much at all (in fact the first 10-15% seems to actually enhance the taste) and it really makes a difference in how fast the carto clogs.
You can use a slightly
cooler running cart to vape with. On my regular KR808 batteries (4.2-3.7 V) I use 3.0-3.2 Ohm cartos and CE2s. On my 5V pass through I drip the thick juices on a high voltage 901 (4.2 Ohm) atty, saving my cartos for 70/30 or thinner juices. If you tend to chain vape and heat up your cartos so they are hot to the touch, carry
two cartos and switch when they get warm.
When doing a top off of 6+ drops (after 4-5 good smokes), drop
a drop of pga or vodka down the connector side hole. Seems to help keep the goo liquid. On my CE2s I hit the coil with a drop.
Finally, as the draw starts to get harder on my vertical coil KR808 cartos, I vape it as dry as I can, then drop 3 drops vodka/pga down the connector side and carefully run a straightened paper clip down the tube. Once it's all the way through I move it around, rubbing it against the sides of the tube. That helps break up the sludge. Remove the clip, add another drop, then blow out the gunk by blowing on the mouth piece side, catching the goop with a tissue or paper towel. On my CE2s I use a pipe cleaner with pga/vodka to scrub the coil.
