So, I am totally new to the whole esmoking scene.. and so far i feel incredibly ......ed about the whole thing and my experience so far has kind of sucked. I think it maybe something that im doing? Im hoping maybe someone can tell me where i went wrong if i went wrong?

So I got the great white from the ecigarette sales website place... from jane and also purchased banana liquid.. i used the first cartigridge and omg i had to suck super hard. it started to give me a mondo headache and every couple or so times i would only get a tiny tiny big of smoke... yes it was fully charged i charged it a full day before use even though i believe jane already pre charges them. sigh.. so i gave up on that one.. plus the cartriges tasted horrible to me! and it only came with high which was a little too much for me!

So i decided to go witht he pilot since it was the only ecigarette available at the time from puresmoker. I was really excited and got it in the mail yesterday. i let it charge all day yesterday and used it a lot already today. it worked fairly well at first but i never really got much vape out of it for some reason i mea na lot more in comparison to ghe great white but it just hits the back of my throat hard and i cant take much in because it burns the bac kof my throat... so eventually i assumed it was gone after tryign to use it extensively until nosmoke came out and used the other battery once it was charged.. i dropped a good 4 drops of eliquid in the cartridge. essentially topping it off right? yeah smoke came out of it again.. but so did liquid!!!!! a lot of it!!! this also happened with my last ecig.. and im very sad becasue i dont like the cartridge taste and would prefer banana... I really want to switch to ecigs but i cant figure otu when im donig wrong.. i watched the intro videos on this thread as well as looked at the threads regarding the greatwhite.. no so much the pilot except people say the charger was defected. not in my case i dont think because the LED is bright.

would dripping be a better option? i hate to say it but where exactly is the atomizer where are people saying to drip the liquid? or how do i top off correctly without it getting into my mouth? sorry for all the questions but i just dont knwo what to do. maybe im just out 60$? i just cant smoke cigarettes anymore because its soo horrible and expensive. i was hoping ecigarettes would be perfect. im kind of sad =(

It sounds like you may have flooded the atomizer and/or overfilled the cartridge. Flooding the atomizer can cause it to stop working entirely until it is dried out (blow through the battery end of the atomizer into a napkin to get rid of excess juice). If you over filled the cartridge (especially with the 401) you can get liquid into your mouth as well.

This is the reason I always recommend people try the prefilled cartridges first. While they are more expensive initially they give you a good feel for how the e-cig should function under ideal circumstances.

Try this:

Never put more than 2 drops of liquid on an atomizer, more than that can flood it and cause it to stop working.

As stated above I would blow out your atomizer (disconnect it from the battery first)and let it sit for a bit with the cartridge end down on a napkin. Also wipe the contacts of the atomizer and battery with a cloth.

Blow and suck on the battery (from the thread end or LED end while not connected to the atomizer) to possibly unstick the switch if there are issues there.

Use a prefilled cartridge.

If the draw is horrible, it is more a function of the battery than the atomizer or cartridge. The switch can get stuck and make it difficult to pull on (especially if liquid got down into the battery due to over filling). Again, try blowing and sucking on the battery to unstick the switch. If the battery is impossible to pull through on it's own, it may be a bad battery. Does this happen with both batteries?

Sorry if this post is a bit sterile, I just wanted to get information to you quickly so you don't give up! Message me directly if you need help.

The M401's have horribly tiny cartridges that can be difficult to refill if you are just getting used to them. I would ultimately suggest you may want to try a DSE 801/901 e-cig sometime in the future as they are very easy to use, reliable and easy to refill.

I am not sure about the Great White, but it sounds like you over filled the cart on the pilot. That is why you got liquid in your mouth. The liquid should not be pooled on the top of the cart. It should be wet, but not pooled on top when topping off. The atomizer is the part that the cart goes into. If you look inside, there is a coil. Just drop a couple of drops on it, wait a minute or two for it to absorb and you should be good to go! These things take time, patience and a lot of trial and error. Good Luck!:)

I'm gonna go look at the models you mentioned. Personally, I have a 901 and an 801. It took me a couple days of working with them when they were new. Breaking in the atomizers is not really very pleasant. The primer fluid that is on some tastes nasty. It also takes a little bit different type of draw. Vaping takes more work than smoking, but IMHO it is worth the work. The taste is SO much better. I can't tell you how many times I've flooded an atomizer and/or sucked a mouthful of fluid. I prefer not to drip. For me it's a hassle. The atomzer on the 901 and 801 is between the mouthpiece and the battery. The battery screws into the atomizer and the mouthpiece goes on the other end. I really need to go look at the great white and the pilot. The 901 and 801 cartridges can be rinsed out, dried and refilled with the liquid of my choice. I don't know if you can do that with your models.

wait so the coil part is where you drop the liquid when you are dripping? not the cartridge? im still kind of confused on this.. why dont people use this?

ozrick, thanks so much for the advice! I might end up messaging you if i still cant get it to work. I dont have time to try that right now, but i will later tonight. unfortunately guys.... I bought another pack of cigarettes *sigh* i couldnt take the taste of liquid in my mouth and I was still really craving them.. I'm really going to get lung cancer if i dont stop. so you suggested I use regular cartridges!? The only problem is i really hate the taste...

Also, why does it burn the back of my throat and make me cough? Its the same feeling in my throat when you smoke hookah and its burning to much. What is this an indicator of? Because so far it has hit my throat harshly every single time which makes it so hard for me to smoke.

Thanks you guys for the advice!
and the pilot came with 2 batteries of 2 different sizes. so. well hopefully yeah..

also. I watched an instructional video and they mentioned 4-5 drops!? 2 will suffice? how many drags approximately does this last because i think maybe its clogged? or ehh im so frustrated I wish i had someone physically able to show me. this is still so new to me! and thanks =] i appreciate everyones help. I'm going to give it a couple more tries to get it working and see if it works. maybe i should purchase more cartridges and that automizer or whatever that thing is called =/ lol

4-5 drops sound pretty heavy to me. I have a pilot as well, I can't even imagine the atomizer holding that much!

You can get different flavor cartridges as well. You aren't using a blank cartridge (unfilled / dry) and then dripping on the atomizer as well are you? If so it could be the cartridge filling causing the taste / throat hit. If you are going to drip vape only, use the empty cartridge the e-cig came with (it has no filling).

Feel free to msg me. If you are near Chicago, we can exchange information and maybe I can help you via phone or what have you.

I'm pretty sure the 4-5 drops advice was for topping off the cart. People top off the cart by putting drops of liquid into the cart filler material.

Dripping, on the other hand, is the term used when people drip a drop or two directly onto the atomizer wire mesh. Often, people who drip exclusively take the cart filler material right out, and just use the empty mouthpiece. Others use a combination of both topping off and dripping techniques.

You are asking a lot of questions that most new folks would ask. Vaping is a full-contact habit. You need to learn your equipment and make it work for you. You obviously had some expectations of what an e-cig would do and they have been dashed on the rocks.

To me, smoking an e-cig, or personal vaporizer, was like smoking an ultra light analog cigarette. Far from the experience I was expecting. Do not assume the personal vaporizer will give you the full effect of an analog. Some things you can do early on to curb the craving for an analog is to use high nicotine juices. While this may not be recommended by some, I found that 36mg/ml liquid easily satisfied my nicotine cravings when I first started vaping.

Vapor condenses when it cools, so inside your atomizer barrel and on the outside of your cartridge will be droplets of fluid. Get into the habit of wiping that off periodically. This will minimize the amount of smoking juice that might enter your mouth. Next, stay with cartridges for a while until you better understand when the atomizer is starting to dry out. At that time (low vapor production), put a couple of drops of smoking fluid on the cartridge stuffing. Dripping takes some experimention. Don't do it right away.

The harsh throat hit could be the nicotine content. If the nicotine is higher than what your body is accustomed to, it can kick a bit.

The atomizer is that center portion. The part that screws onto the battery. I echo Ozrick's advise about blowing out the atomizer. Disconnect it from the battery. Blow into the part that connects to the battery, using a napkin or paper towel to catch the liquid that sprays out (unless you want to clean up the mess).

I am not sure about the two models you have. I know with my 901, my 801, and my Joye 510, I can take out the cartridge filler (tiny piece of polyester material that looks like a cigarette filter and is located in the cartridge or mouthpiece). I can then blot almost all of the liquid out of the material, replace the material, and fill it with my choice of liquid. The flavor of the cartridges that come with the kit is absolutely foul.

My advice: blow out the atomizer as described, then put 1 drop of liquid on the atomizer and let it sit while you work on the cartridge. Once you have removed the foul tasting liquid from your cartridge filler, you must replace the filler into the cartridge and fill it. Put one drop at a time on the filler until it appears wet. You want the cartridge filler to appear wet, but not dripping wet. Reassemble your device and try vaping.

The Great White problem. Try unscrewing the battery just a little bit and see if it is an easier draw. My Joye 510 and my 801 get really hard to draw if I have the battery tightened down too much.
