    @hittman

Do you vape and use snus? What about the risk of mouth cancer?

I can feel your pain about the depression. For some of us it can get very dark. Write me if you want to compare notes about it.

"Sanity is overrated. I'd rather be happy" - "Normal people are just the ones you don't know very well"

First of all, let me say that I'm not trying to push people into trying snus. I think it is helpful to know that there are other reduced harm products out there available. To answer your question, yes I vape and use snus. Often at the same time. I used to vape probably around 4-5ml a day of 24-36mg liquids at 6v. After not smoking for a couple months the depression hit me and wouldn't let up. I started a thread much like you did asking for help/advice. That's when I found out about snus for the first time. I never used dip or chew before and thought it was gross. However, I decided to give snus a try. About ten or fifteen minutes after trying my first snus portion, it was like I was in a dark room and someone turned on the lights. Like you I was skeptical of getting addicted to something else or suffering a set back. For me there was no denying that snus gave me what I was lacking.

Swedish snus is processed differently than American chew/dip and contains much lower levels of tsna's which are the cancer causing agents. Snus has been used in Sweden for a long time and from what I have read, there aren't any reports of cancer caused from it's use. However when they ship it to the U.S., our government started making them put the warning labels on them even there is no proof that it causes cancer. When I first started using it there were no warnings on the cans. In Sweden snus is treated much like a food product would be here and must meet certain criteria or it cannot be sold. All of this being said, the safest alternative is using nothing. However that doesn't seem to be an option for many of us. I know there hasn't been a ton of research on vaping but from what little I have read, it is safer than snus but for me vaping doesn't tame the beast by itself. Also, I meant to mention that I now go thru a ml or less of liquid a day and use about six portions of snus a day. Sometimes one or two more. Snus can be bought in loose form like chew/dip or the way I buy it is in little pouches called portions. I hope that if nothing else, I have been informative.

The first time I tried it, I got the camel frost. It was sweet like candy and didn't seem very strong. Some tobacco shops sell General brand snus which is one of my favorites. I always order online. Since the government passed the PACT act, the shipping is expensive because usps won't carry tobacco and it now has to be shipped via UPS with adult signature required. The shipping makes it a little cost prohibitive to place small orders. If you go to generalsnus.com then you can register(for free) and I think they will send you a sample pack for a dollar or something. Also, you can do a search by zip code to find stores near you that might carry it.

I read the OP and glanced over some responses on the 1st page. My suggestion is probably wrong, and will make some peoples' head wanna explode, but, hey, it's worth a shot. Look, you're 3 weeks analog-free. Congrats! Bum a smoke from someone, tho. Go ahead. Fire one up. I bet you hate it. Even tho your brain says you want it, you rpobably don't. I did this. My best friend was still smoking (I converted the hard-head hehe) and one day while we were hanging out, I said, "Hey, gimme a smoke." I lit it and took a drag and passed it back to him. Told him to finish it. It was awful! Helped reinforce my joy in vaping.

My other suggestion is to upgrade your hardware to variable voltage (VV). There are some cost-effective options out there. It was a vast improvement to my ability to stay off stinkies. Apparently, the heat-sensation plays a role in my vaping satisfaction. I like it hot and steamy lol! ;)

This may sound obvious and silly, but you have OK equipment, OK juices, high nic level... Did you chainsmoke? Do you chain vape?
I'm only asking because one of my now-happyconverts had the same problem. I hadn't actually been around her (just sent her off with some equipment) and I couldn't understand until we sat together. She sort of had the idea that you take a few little hits (not very effective ones) and you should be good to go for an hour, even though she smoked really heavily. Me, I vaped (and vape) constantly, just like I smoked. Just grasping at straws here, I know...

+1 I've been vaping for around 15 months now, and having a cigarette or 3 daily up until February 14th, when I finally gave up the analogs, hopefully for good this time. The funny thing is, I still like the taste of cigs, but they never did anything more then vaping did emotionally (make sense?). So now, I might want a cig, but I push through that craving, knowing that even if I smoke one, it really won't make me feel better anyway, it's like a false want, rather than a real want. I know this sounds confusing but it's like dougie said, you probably don't really want it, you just think you do. So go ahead and smoke one if you need to, don't torture yourself.

I don't recommend this, but I will share my experience.

I was craving a cig hard this past summer. I was so frustrated with spending so much on the most expensive equipment and buying tons of juices that I didn't like.

So I bummed a cig. I took one drag, and I couldn't stand it. I hadn't had a cig for about 3-4 months at that point. I haven't really had a craving since. Sometimes I do not feel satisfied, and I struggle with depression. Snus is a safer alternative than smoking even a coupe of cigs a day. I may try that to see if it may help lift the dissatisfaction a bit.

Thanks for all the advise everyone. I think what is most frustrating is that nothing tastes fab yet. I'll try a new carto, juice, battery or something and it will taste good then bad then good then bad.......It's been enough to keep me off analogs for 3 months so I will keep searching. I think I'll get some snuf and try to use it only though those really hard cravings.

I've been looking at the LT and vv boxes as some of you have suggested. You will probably think this is just silly but they just look so big and cumbersome. I know I need to weigh the satisfaction into the equation but I already think my Echo 650 looks a little big and heavy in my hand. I'm a 110lb woman and don't want to look like I'm walking around with my father's cigar or need two hands to hold it!

I missed a few posts so this may have already been covered, but in terms of nothing tasting good, please bear in mind that your taste buds have been damaged by smoking and will take time to recover. A liquid you feel has no flavor now, you may love in a month from now.

Also remember to drink A LOT of water. Not only will this refresh your taste buds a bit and keep you hydrated (as vaping will dry you out), but it'll help to flush the toxins from smoking out of your system more quickly.

My taste buds still go through dead times even after almost 3 years of vaping. When it happens, I'll use a strong liquid like menthol or cinnamon or I'll just vape unflavored that I make myself until it passes so I don't waste my good liquids.

I don't know if my experience will help, but I will share it and you can try if you want.

I was also a marlboro red smoker, and like you when I started vaping it was only a few days and I was completely off of them. I went thru some low's where my e-cig didn't seem to produce the same hits. I was using the cartridges. I stopped using those altogether and switched to Joye prefilled cartos. I bought the mlb blend in 18 mgs (tasted a lot like marlboro). I was in heaven, but after a bit of time, the throat hit and satisfaction waned. I gave the same cartos in menthol juice a try. I never liked menthol analogs, but this Joye menthol juice really did it for me. It packs a bigger punch in taste and gives me more of that satisfaction I had while smoking analogs. In the beginning I tried a whole host of different flavors, and while they were enjoyable and a novelty, they never really satisfied my craving for a good vape.

Now everyone doesn't like menthol, and you might not either, but since a lot of our story sounds similar who knows, maybe you will. You can get an eight pack of them, prefilled, from cignot for $8. IF you like them, you can refill them with the menthol joye juice, also from cignot. They are $12 a bottle of 20ml.

I've been vaping this for over a year now, with no more cravings for something different or more mg's. Still at 18 mg's, will eventually go down to 12 mgs, but I'm not in a big hurry since this is only a medium dose.

And ctourtelot isn't kidding when saying "drink a lot of water"! This is really important to drink a lot of water when you vape, vaping can be dehydrating and water also resets your taste buds.

Mookie, I have a lavatube/ l-rider. I do like it but was already using an xhaler at 6v. The LT is longer than the xhaler but not really heavier. If you just want to try some snus to see if it might help, just pick up some camel at a convenience store. That way you aren't out much money. If it seems to help then it might be worth putting in an order for some Swedish snus.

Hi, just wanted to chime in. It was the same way for me, and it lasted almost 5 months before it passed. It is going on 2 yrs now for me and my husband.

I went through multiple vendors. Multiple flavors. The only thing that stopped it was going for menthol.(I was not a menthol smoker. I was Misty 120's and my husband was Marlboro LT 100's) We ended up with Halo Menthol Ice and Halo Freedom, plus Malibu Menthol just for some flavor. I think we needed the harshness that a cigarette gave us, and that hit on the throat. We used 24mg, and still do, although 18mg works as well. I don't think the nic was the issue...it was the mimic of the cigarette draw and feeling. Halo delivered, and somehow got us through that period.(I think Halo is harsh) We stayed with Halo about 2 months...then moved on. Now, my husband can vape anything, lol.

Our main suppliers are Vapealicious(Twig and Berries yum!), Kick Bass Vapor(I LOVE Pineapple Shake and Sweet Tea with Peach) and sometimes Vixen Vapor(Blueberry Crumble for me and Pineapple with medium menthol for hubby). My husband also likes Mr. E Liquids Ice Collection. I also LOVE Nitelite Vapors Bounty Hunter, but getting it has became a hassle, so I order it if it happens to be in stock but have learned not to depend on it.

You may also want to try Kick Bass Vapor Sweet Tea. You can add peach, mint or lemon to it, but it has a little menthol in it to mimic ice. There is something about the harshness of the tea flavors with menthol that also curves cravings.

Btw, we have always used 900-1000mah Ego batteries. We had used atomizers, but switched to Smoketek 1.7ohm cartomizers and have used them every since.(Boge 1.5 LR also when supplier is out)

Addition: There is one more I totally forgot that got me through it. Tasty Vapors Geoff's Blend. It has cinnamon in it, and was a little harsh. It worked great. BUT....you either love or hate that one. Some like it some don't.

I really don't like menthol cigs but on some of your opinions I just ordered some. Who knows if it worked for you it just might work for me.

Now to really jump over the moon, I'm kinda, sorta, possibly looking at jumping right in and getting the new Provari Mini. I want to wait and see some reviews first and see how big it actually looks like in someone's hand. From what I'm reading people say they wish they had passed up the KGO, echo, ego LT, etc., types and just went for a high quality vv mod or tube. In the long run they would have saved a lot of money. Wish I had read those reviews first but then again I probably would have thought it nuts to spend so much money.

WOW. You are the FIRST person I have read that said they were not a menthol smoker, but the menthol vape did it for them (other than myself, that is lol). I honestly believe there is something to it. Like you, I needed soemthing I guess that felt harder, or harsher, to mimic the feel of a drag off an analog. Difference though with me, I have have not vaped anything else. It feels every bit as satisfying to me as smoking.

So glad to have read your post. I wondered if I might be the only one on the planet who stumbled onto the menthol vape to help mimic the feel of a cig. lol

I really wish I could say something to make it go away for you! Just know alot of us have been there or are dealing with it as well. Vent all you need until you feel better. That what we are here for. I know I get a juice and for a few days think I have hit pay dirt only to have it fizzle out on me, what I have found helps is rotating juices through the day, keeps the taste buds awake.

Thanks Karmakatie. Things are much better now. It's just that occasional hard craving that almost sends me over the edge. I know sooner or later I will find the right equipment and juices and it will get easier.

It is so wonderful having this forum with so many great people willing to help out. It really makes a huge difference keeping people of the analogs. Us newbies would be lost without all of your expertise and kindness!

The Provari mini is now on utube as of today. Search Provari mini.
    I've a v1 Provari and love it.

Switching subjects. Why did you stop 36 juice was it too strong ??

You should also look at the GG stealth which is smaller and cheaper ( but less capable ) than the PM.
