Hey I'm a college student... I'm 19 but I've been smoking since I was 13 and I've developed a very unhealthy (and unattractive) smokers cough... I'm hoping that with vaping I'll be able to save my lungs lol... I order two starter kits one was the Joye 510 (because it's small but I hear it's produces a lot of vapor) and I also ordered a blu starter kit (because I heard that flavors taste really good in it) I'm not really interested in pen style vaps b/c since I'm an anolog smoker I want something that will replace a cigg (something thats a similiar size so I get that "real cig" feel)... oh yea I ordered the sampler pack from Johnson Creek because I hear it makes really high quality stuff... if anyone has an suggestions as to a diffrent kind of ecig or ejuice i should use please let me know b/c I am a noob and I'm trying to get the best vaping experience possible haha :)

Good choice on the 510. Sorry about the Blu, but everyone has to learn. Stick with manual switch PV's such as the 510. Most of us wanted the one that looks like the real thing at first. Then we realized performance was more important than looks. If you keep vaping, you will migrate to the "big boys", like the majority of us have.

For liquid, here are a few good and well supported suppliers:

Home - Rocky Mountain Vapor you have reached the mountain top of electronic cigarettes!
Heaven-gifts.com Ruyandirect.com Best E-smoking Shop
www.eastmall.net - Eastmall International Co.,Ltd

I would suggest starting with a higher nic strength as you can always make it weaker but you can't make it stronger. I would consider 24mg a good starting point. There is higher than this, also. And definitely get juice: more cost effective, better taste, more variety than prefilled carts.

Good Luck

Well, pretty much everything wv2win said.

If it's not too late, you may want to cancel the order for the Blu. I learned the hard way with a similar model.

If you want a small model like the Blu, you could look into a 306. it's roughly the same size and very reliable. It's about a cart length smaller than the 510. The only downside is it's only available in an auto battery, but it'd be a decent back up to your 510.

Congrats on the great 510, and congrats on getting a really good back-up with the Blu.

Check out the Blu forum for tricks on how to make it perform better. Those of us that actually own one, and have taken the time to adjust to it (they do vape differently and have different maintenance requirements) have gotten stellar performance from them. Is it ever going to be as good or better than that 510? Oh hell no, but for the times where the 510 may not be convenient, the Blu fills in nicely.

Which ones are the "big boys" ? I've seen the Prodigy, but that's about it.

Maybe a better question could be: What model(s) would be a significant or at least noticeable step up from the 510? And/or ones that produce a noticeable difference with throat hit, and/or ones that have twice the battery time or twice the juice capacity?

Here is a list of the premiere devices with their voltage output provided. These all have much longer battery life than the analog looking PV's. The 5 or 6 volt devices provide the best throat hit. All of them provide much better battery life and consistency than the small analog type devices:

The Big Nine in Long Battery Life Manual Switch PV’s:

Screwdriver (3.7v): ecigscrewdriver.com
The Black Screwdriver Electronic Cigarette Kit
Prodigy (5v): PureSmoker.com - Home of the USA Built PV !!!
GG (6v): The GG - The Immortal e-cigarette
JantyStick (3.7v): Janty USA - HOME
LV/ZiMoshi (3.7 or 6v): http://hardassvaporshop.com
Super T (3.7v or 6V): Super T, Innovative manufacturer of Personal Vaporizer products.
AdapteverR (6v): Home - AdapteveR Home of the ORIGINAL USA built PV
Silver Bullet (3.7v): AltSmoke | Personal Vaporizer Silver Bullet - Kit - Starter Kits
VP1/VP2 (3.7v): VaprLife

Note: I could get about 7 hours on a charge with the Screwdriver and about 5 hours with the Prodigy and I vape on it about 20-25 times an hour. Using either the Prodigy or the GG or any of these with an 801/BE112 atomizer and cartridge provides the largest capcity for liquid.

www.cignot.com carries EcoPure. No wait, and Vicky and Terri are great (didn't intend to rhyme, but oh well).

You might also want to try some EcoPure juice. It is VG based and some folks really like it. Gives great vapor, especially from a 510. You can get it from Innovapor, but expect pretty slow shipping.

you can get the PCC with the 510 for $25 from the same supplier I mention above. I have found, through months of doing this, though, that the best combination for all vaping is extra batteries. Buy at least 2 extra batteries for the 510 (just get the $35 starter kit without box from Vicky at cignot.com). I use a hard cover glasses case to carry 3 full ecigs in, I line it with towels in case of any leakage. I use EcoPure (best vapor) I like Rich, but I also like the flavorless. Keep a small bottle in the glasses case.

You'll be plenty mobile.

I have tried other methods, that some like, The PCC --gave away, the Pelican case from Innovapor (can't fit a 510 put together). Thus the glasses case. I always have charged batteries. 4 will work for a night out, but otherwise, I am commuting between battery stations (home and work). I just added a power strip to charge batteries while I charge my phone/blackberry and laptop in the same place.

Its all about organizing and making it a ritual. I have heard mixed reviews of the Blu. I actually tried to order it as my first back in May or June, and cancelled as soon as it said 4-6 weeks delivery. I mean WTF?

good luck.

I started with the Blu, then after a week with it I bought a 510. I haven't used the Blu since (although I have only had my 510 for 3 days). The blu is great (although inconsistent) and will be my backup. I have to agree with getting the PCC (carrying case) for the 510, it isn't as nice as the Blu, but works really well. I got the 510 mainly because of the good reviews, the many accessories, and didn't want to wait on Blu for supplies. It took 20 days for me to get my Blu!

Happy Vaping!

good luck.

I have become almost OCD with the way I organize my ecig stuff. Everything has a place and it better stay there.

Welcome to ECF CollegeVapor! You've picked a good one in choosing a 510. I can't say anything about the Blu because I don't have one. You really should get a PCC to go with it though as the battery life on the 510's are not that great. I can get about an hour and a half on one battery if that is the only one I'm using. I'm what I would call a heavy vapor though so YMMV.

I started with a 901 with auto batteries and while I really like my 901 if I didn't have a battery mod I would not use it as much. I just got in some manual batteries for it and they work great so I'll probably be using it more now. You should have a back up for everything though. Get a few batteries, 3 or 4 and definitely get some more attys. Those are usually the first thing to go on any ecig. I have been using the same one on my 510 for 7 weeks now. The original would still be going if I hadn't pulled the wick out of it,lol See if you can get your money back on the Blu and put it into more 510 stuff. I think you would be a lot happier that way.

Well since you said you are a college kid, I wanted to share these shopping sites with you. They are direct from China. Don't know your financial status, but most college kids could use a break. If you make your decision, and these sites have what you want, you may want to order from China.

Remember it takes a couple of weeks though. And shipping is high. But, if you make a big enough order it balances out.

now when you say inconsistencies what does that mean? does it produce more or less vapor whenever it feels like it? or is it a different problem with the blu? also would it be a good idea to buy blu atomizers and put em into my 510? because blu gives you 2 for 10 bucks which is a great deal haha idk what do you guys think?
The inconsistencies I mentioned were as far as vapor. One puff would be great, and you could get half the vapor on the next puff. I have noticed that doesn't happen with the 510. But I agree the Blu attys are pretty cheap (although it could be a wait for shipping). You can use the Blu atomizers on the 510 battery, but you would have to use the Blu carts, as the 510 carts don't work on the Blu atty. Looks funny too because the 510 is slightly thicker than the Blu. Just one word of advice... DO NOT try to charge the Blu using the 510 charger, and vice versa. I have heard they use opposite polarities, and some people have destroyed their batteries.

I've found that the less I do to an atty the better it is. I will do what they call a dry burn every now and then if I'm changing juice flavors but that's it. Since I quit all the cleaning rituals even my 901 attys are lasting a lot longer. I'm on week 6 with the one I'm using now.

I hope everything goes good for you but if you need any help with the 510 just give me a shout.
