I guess I can join the consensus, I how ever am bored with the new products :(
Seems like it's all been done. I haven't seen any real innovation since TC!
New rta's, rda's & mods are coming out daily! & they all seem the same :(
They keep pumping out new products, I just cant get excited about :(

I'm new at this so I'm stoked to the core right now.

Yet coming off a few year stint of being a flashlight junkie, I understand all the rage soon turns into same-ole-same-ness quickly. Yet with flashlights I went from using my 1990's minimag to headlight bright LED's and quickly found my niche of mid level output and classics were my thing.

So now that the flashlight fetish is under control it's onto vape gear. And thus far mid-level and classic gear has been my favorite. Never been one to jump on the latest gadget train anyway. I don't need touch screen, bluetooth.... a clock etc. So the instant fire and a good, leak free tank is good enough.... but dawg gonnit there's a lot of choices out there.

Like with flashlights, knives, inkpens, and other hobbies, there are certain popular brands I tend to avoid in exchange for the brands that have been around a long time. Part of that is the history buff/collector in me too.

I've mentioned this a number of times throughout the forum that I'm very selective these days. All I see coming out of China now is just over hyped relabeling of the same old crap. What I've been doing over the last year is replacing mediocre gear with quality gear and that is rarely now.

I should be bored as I found my all day vape just a few months in. It's unflavored, which sounds boring and very well may be. I use factory coils in a lipo mod to keep things simple.
My vaping is more like scratching an itch. Hardly know that I do it. Reckon it's mostly just giving the monkey on my back some peanuts. He's happy, I'm happy. But I ain't aiming to entertain the beast with fancy stuff.

Actually, you are 100% right. I'd be excited to quit vaping. Unfortunately I do need my nicotine.
Nice to see see you still posting here, I always have read and enjoyed your insights on this board.

I've only been vaping 8 months so everything is still new for me, but. My interest was to get away from smoking and find gear that will last, my zippo is 30 years old! So when I find that gear and maybe start mixing if I have to then the interest is really not there for me. The colors, lights and other dodads on stuff holds not facination for me. My problem is sorting through the clutter of stuff available.

Kind of like when I started with straight razors, you can go nuts with gear. My shave setup is simple long lasting and does what I want.

Bored? Yeah maybe, but I try to switch it up during the day by going back and forth from vaping to Snus & DIY and commercial juice.
Keeps things a little more interesting. Different flavors and different nic delivery.
Am I addicted to nicotine? Of course and I wouldn't have it any other way. :)

Speaking of shaving, went to dbl edge safety razors 5-6 yrs ago. What an improvement!

    Done it:

    Flashlights
    Knives
    Guns
    Headphones and amplifiers
    Watches
    Vaping (of course)

I'm retired now and need to be a bit more selective about my hobby spending...ooooh...inkpens!

Also retired. It’s not just about the money though, space too! I went through a vintage/antique furniture phase lol. That had to stop before I needed a pole barn.

I guess the main point I was trying to convey is that there just isn't much new tech in vaping lately. The Mr. Potato Head example is hilarious, and illustrates my point perfectly. Now, it's just the same stuff packaged differently.

Even for a new vaper, you will never experience the explosive growth that happened over the years. Ever used a punch to prep your carto for an IB Tanked? Didn't think so, and that was very common just a few years ago.

Obviously the goal is harm reduction, but it seemed a lot more fun and interesting when everything was new and we were finding our way.

Actually, I still have 2 carto punchers along with a laser pen pv and other antiques. It is a hobby for me and I like the crazy lights and pretty colors. I had a couple of years of 'boredom' and didn't buy one single thing, not even a coil. Of course, I have enough stuff for 3 people's lifetimes lol.

I'm going to equate vaping with surfing.

Once upon a time not long after World War 2, a few dozen fellows (and a few gals) who discovered 12 -20 foot waves in Hawaii. They had the place to themselves for about a decade. They innovated board shaping for a more satisfying experience. They shared ideas with a few others and slowly word got out.

Then one day Hollywood stepped in and made a bubble gum flavored movie called Gidget. It was now the 1960's. Suddenly a mass market for all things surfing sprouted like morning glory. Along with it there was lots of money to be had. At first innovation was booming thanks to better technology and boards went from 100 pounds and 12 feet long to 15 pounds and 7 feet long. Here in 2018 not a lot has changed.

So once upon a time a few dozen here at ECF watched, learned and innovated vape technology. Then one day the giant cloud machine was invented. Much like when that movie came out, a mass appeal was born and with it a mass market of same ole sameness with a bit more bling every 90 days.... I can definitely see why some are bored. Me? I'm just glad lighter surfboards were invented and better vape mods. While the market scratches and claws for a wee bit more of the share we benefit from the advancement in batteries, atomizers, tanks and computer chips. Instant fire? Whoda thunk it 20 years ago?

Like rose said in the post above, it's a hobby to me as well. A hobby that helps me ween off cigarettes one day at a time. And I picture a future without them now. So there will come a time when I grow bored with it to an extent, like with flashlights and other hobbies. But a 4am when nature calls I seek refuge with a small flashlight and afterwards puff once or twice on a vape before returning back to dreamy-dream land for another hour or so.

I retired earlier this year. Do a lot of gardening. GD is on her last year at college and I did 2 or 3 days a week looking after a 4 year old GGD this summer. That's almost over now. I play the accordion but my shoulder and hands tell me not to do too much of that. Gave up my last motorcycle 15 years ago for similar reasons. I have a garage full of woodworking equipment.

My buddy does ceramics, mostly yard ornaments these days. He creates amazing stuff. He tried to get me interested in it but it ain't cheap. Especially starting out when you have to build a shed and furnaces and so forth.

Talking of pens, I got hooked on calligraphy at high school. Haven't done that for several decades but I have a big box of paper and pens and ink and so forth up in the attic. Winter is coming so maybe I'll dig it out.

A few weeks ago I fired up an old video game, Morrowind. Used to work on software so I wrote my own mods for Morrowind. I'm trying to remember how the 3D software works so I can amuse myself with that stuff.

There are plenty of hobbies that don't cost money. Just stay away from the ones that involve buying stuff. Vaping is a money pit for a lot of folks at some point along the way. It does seem like the industry is aiming itself at people who like to buy the latest and greatest. But that has to be a smallish group really. There should be a J C Penny of vaping where they sell KFL's and Picos and Nautilus at discount prices.

I fly multirotors and model aircraft, it can be expensive especially when starting out, just like vaping I've hit a sweet spot with it and don't need any new gear, in fact I'm ditching all the stuff I don't need or want anymore to make space in the shed.

I've built a valve (tube) amplifier and done many audio based projects as electronics is my strong point, I'm well versed in it, even that I've cut back on not from boredom but lack of inspiration and being busy with family kids etc.
However I'm getting that inspiration back slowly, have a project lined up.

I'll probably do the same with my vaping gear eventually.

I've decided I'm not bored with vaping yet, however I'm not buying every new thing that comes along. I plan to save up for a Dicodes mod and that is plenty not boring to me, for example. I still find DIY new mixes exciting and fun.

I have a feeling my vaping may grow more utilitarian in the future, when I have less time hanging around the house. I mean, I'll just have less time and it will be less exciting, probably and certainly less expensive because a lot of my "must have stocked up" things are stocked up, and I really have learned to research stuff before just buying it.

I don't think I'll ever be completely bored however, but I am super happy with the vapes and gear I have. It's a good feeling, not necessarily "boring" either.

I used to be here every day all day long. I went through all the changes from my first vape equipment. A tiny 180mAp battery that looked like a lit cigarette. It had a tiny cartridge that held a few drops of e-liquid attached to an atomizer screwed to the tiny battery. I missed the carto tanks but not the cartos. Cartos were a huge step above those cartridges. Then came the progression of clearos. Any one remember the ones that had that tiny black plug :) If it wasn't positioned just right the thing leaked like it had a big hole in it. Get it just right though and it wasn't a bad vape. I did learn from it that I liked the bottom coil toppers. When the CE3 bottom coil hit the market I was in vaping heaven. Stuck with them until it got very hard to find them.

I have a drawer filled with who knows how many toppers of ALL kinds. I finally settled on the simple SMOKtech ARO II eGo Clearo Single BCC. It takes Protank coils. I build them with prewound 1.8 4 wick coils from fastech. I stopped buying batteries when the istick 30 watt hit the market and then a wonderful member here gifted me with a Dragon Provari. I fell in love and had to have more. I have 4 Provari now and use all 4 of them constantly. I expect them to last me the rest of my life.

I mix my own e-liquid. I have 4 flavors I rotate through during various times of the day and so far have never tired of them. My vaping would be considered boring to some but it does what it is supposed to do. It satisfies me and keeps me off smokes. I am coming up on my 7th anniversary and boring works for me. :)

As my style of equipment became "obsolete" and increasingly hard to find, the fun of new stuff was pretty much lost on me. I'm now revisiting one of my old hobbies that had some of the same progression - bicycles. I still enjoy bikes from the 70's and 80's, as well as some from the early 90"s. I can get them for about what a typical three battery mod sells for if I hunt for a bit. The hunt is fun once again but these puppies take up a lot more space! I'll likely donate a couple to an area shop that teaches needy people how to build their bike which they then own.

The old hobby that I can not revisit is stereo equipment. The old stuff I like would require re-mortaging the house.
Besides that, the old Marantz 2275 is still kicking out the jams just fine.:)
