Not quitting, just not nearly as enthusiastic as I was just a couple of years ago. I think I have reached my saturation point, as with many of my other hobbies.

There was a time not that long ago that I was seriously infatuated (consumed) with vaping, anxiously awaiting the next new toy, buying, trying, and selling (a LOT). Scouring the net and this forum constantly looking for something new. And I was not disappointed. Like many folks, I went from disposable Njoys, to Blu, to an Ego battery with a clearomizer, to an Innokin MVP with Kanger Pro Tanks, to RDAs. to mech mods, sub-ohm tanks, regulated mods - then TC, and to squonking - where I have kind of settled, though I still drip a bit on mech and regulated mods at higher wattage.

I even wrote reviews for a high-traffic web site. Got to handle and use the latest and greatest vaping gear first hand and share my thoughts. What a gig.

Along the way, I started mixing my own juice and after a short buying frenzy I have also found that their are only so many custards you can mix. Not being the creative type (lazy) I can't be bothered concocting my own and have found a few recipes from others that I really like and have settled on.

Now it seems, the shine is off. I still vape - a lot - and will continue to make juice but I have reached a point where I don't visit here very day, don't look for new stuff, and have settled on a handful of juice recipes.

This is not a farewell to vaping, but I have found my sweet spot and just don't get excited about the "new" stuff coming out lately. Nothing really innovative like we saw in the explosion of vaping products over the past several years. There are only so many ways to make an RDA or RTA or to make a drop in coil, only so many ways to twist wire into multi-strand exotic wire, only so many ways...well, you get it...

There just doesn't seem to be the same level of excitement in the industry right now - nothing like the first regulated mods, or the introduction of temperature control (especially DNA technology) or sub-ohm tanks that took the industry by storm.

So, yeah, I'm bored.

Anyone else?

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who feels this way. I, too, have made my own juice for quite some time and am now at the point where I'm considering trashing the majority of my flavorings. The newest and greatest equipment doesn't get m,e excited at all. Seems like most of the new devices are simply tricked out versions of stuff that's been around forever. I'll also continue vaping, but only for my own personal enjoyment. I suppose it will still be a hobby but not my big passion anymore.

I found my "sweet spot" a few years ago. Although I still try a new thing occasionally, what I vape every day hasn't changed much since.

I think it's OK to become bored with vaping as long as you've found a setup that keeps you off the smokes. Thinking back, it wasn't the variety of flavors or equipment that got me started vaping, it was the desperate hope that something would work to keep me off the smokes. I wasn't looking for a new hobby but the excitement about something that worked led me there.

Comparing the drudgery of heading out to buy another pack to vaping the same thing, vaping remains more fun and interesting. It's also ridiculously cheaper. The option to change it up, whether I do or not, keeps it fresh enough for me.

Burn out.

Now I vape DIY unflavored, use mostly stock coils, and stock tanks at relatively moderate wattages on a TC/VW/VV mod.

I started with DIY juice /w bunches of flavors. Dripping, winding coils when that came available, and even building simple box mods (anyone remember 14500's? ;) )

I think a lot of it has to do with availability of decent gear and options that you can "settle into".

I also think that the small "POD systems" with nic salts are another new-era. But I guess that's debatable.

The only thing I can say is, were you really excited when you were smoking? It was just something I had to do, and very rarely enjoyed a cigarette. I'm still kind of new to the vaping experience, but I can certainly see it dying down. Nothing wrong with getting bored of a hobby. Keep on vaping! When you want.

I don't think I've ever had burnout with vaping in general, but certain aspects of vaping I have had burnout.

I'm burned out making my own RDA coils; I've become lazy over the last couple of years and prefer the simple convenience of using a good clearomizer that accepts a good drop in coil. I'd rather not be bothered making my own coils now, but I'm glad that I learned how to do it.

I learned how to DIY e-liquids just in case I need to for a Vape Apocalypse, but I do prefer using a good commercially prepared e-liquid instead.

I do use sub-ohm tanks/coils, but I prefer vaping at moderate settings with 30 watts being my sweet spot. I've shelved my mechanical mods for a 75W DNA regulated mod because I like to be able to adjust my vape "on the fly" and appreciate the added safety of the protection circuitry.

I've been quite pleased with my current vape setup for 2 - 3 years now. I get free samples of mods and tanks occassionally for review, but I always return back to my JAC Vapour DNA and original Uwell Crown tanks. I'm always on the lookout for a commercially prepared juice I might like.
It's good seeing you around again, AttyPops. I remember when you were much more active on ECF. I believe you were here when I first joined and I knew hardly anything about vaping. :)

I was never excited about smoking, and I was never excited about vaping. I was always about reducing cost, so I could spend my money elsewhere. I have been vaping since Jan 2013 and only had a handfull of setups (cig-a-like, eGo-C, Vision Spinner, and 3 "mods" total). I have also been DIY since the FDA Deeming was first announced. As a result, my savings over smoking has been astronomical. Welcome to sanity.

Nearing 5 years vaping and I also have reached a point where I don't look at all the latest and greatest. I've found what I like in mods and atties, been making my own juice for a couple of years, so I guess I'm bored. Satisfied, but bored as far as the hobby aspect is concerned. I keep vaping, but don't go looking.

I sort of agree with the bored of vaping vibe but......
Is it that you're bored of vaping or are you jaded because the 'latest and greatest' nearly always turns out to be the same old, same old with extra lights.
For me:
Progression of vaping devices runs something like this - cig-a-likes > ego and spinner > ProVape (or insert your own early pioneer) > DNA with temp control.
Progression of atomisers - Bridgeless dripper > Top silica wick atty > Carto > Kayfun > Everything else with a drop-in coil.

Everything else is smoke and mirrors designed to extract the maximum profit.

My spending has slowed way down, certainly, I still enjoy mixing (I think I always will enjoy that) but I'm certainly not rushing out to buy each and every new device, etc., like in the beginning.

I don't think I'm bored, exactly, I've just kind of found my "wheelhouse of what works" and feel stocked up aplenty should vaping change drastically.

I think at the moment I'm more interested in quality than quantity. I'm saving up for a Dicodes mod rather than buying a bunch of clone RTAs, and that's a lot easier when you already have enough gear. Etc.

I started vaping to slow down on my smoking and save some money. That was in 2009. It worked, even better than I thought it would. Two months after I started vaping, I quit smoking !! Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed smoking and I enjoy vaping, but vaping isn't a hobby for me, I'm not interested in the "latest and greatest", just what works for me, to keep me off of cigarettes. Try to change your attitude about vaping. Don't look at it as a hobby, but rather a tool to keep you away from the cancer sticks.

Now that I've found my happy place gear wise shopping for vape products is more a chore than pleasure. Used to be it all looked interesting. Fairly new to diy but find mixing to be a bit of a chore too. Now I mix a bunch every month or two and am enjoying tasting new mixes again. Not as entertaining as when it was new but definitely more relaxing now that I am vaping exactly the way I want to.

Anyone else?

When I first started Vaping, there were So Many Directions to go. So many things to try. And New/Better Products were coming out Constantly.

I always told myself that there was a Perfect ________ (Mod, RTA, RBA, Coil Build, DIY e-Liquid, whatever) out there. And if I tried enough stuff, I would find them.

Well guess what? I did.

I still look at New Stuff. Just kinda to know what it is. But my Buying/Trying things in hopes of finding something "Better" has all but ceased.

So yeah... I know what you mean.

I buy new stuff here and there just to have enough hardware, nic, and all the accessories just in case the FDA gets froggy and starts shutting down the eliquid, DIY nic, flavors, and hardware sources "to save the children".

I also find that new mods have much of the same features as the old ones, but in a newer package. There's little new under the Sun for vaping, short of Pods and a few innovative mods and RTAs here and there.

I started vaping to quit smoking. That worked so well that I considered vaping a replacement, not an end point. Once the studies began to emerge saying that vaping was 95% safer than smoking (and they chose that number just in case there was something they missed), I settled in for the long ride. I enjoy vaping and have no plans to stop.

8 years of vaping has resulted in clear lungs and a healthier me as opposed to smoking. Maybe I'd be even better without it, but I like it!
