Cool site... Until a few days ago, I didn't know e-cigs existed...

I have read posts on this site for a few days and I am aware that it is absolutely gauche to ask "what's the best etc" but...
It seems the more I learn, the more confused that I get...

I have been at least a pack a day guy since 1993. I have done the patch six or seven times... I chew the gum at work...
I tried an e cig at a mall kiosk the other day and it REALLY seemed like it would work for me. It was the "smoke free" brand... it was pricey, the sales person was rude and I had done no research... so I didn't bite...

I came home and started doing research... and I have become thoroughly confused about what to get...

The Green Smoke looks awesome... the look and feel... fresh atty etc... but Most experienced people on this site either returned theirs or didn't like it...

From reading posts here... people seem to like the 510... the KR808, the tornado.. the DSE901 or something,etc...

I want my first kit to work for me...

1. I am wary of filling my own juices... but if that's what we all eventually migrate to... then I can deal with it...
2. I want to do business with someone and a company that will be around for a while...
3. I want to start with a quality e cig...
4. It would be really nice if it looked like a real cig... but it seems that the people on this site all eventually sacrifice look for performance...

anyway... I am very open to anyone's enthusiasm for what they use...

Lastly, I am having trouble figuring out what to think about the more expensive cigs... like smokefree and greensmoke...

Thanks, LT

After reading mounds of threads on this site I decided to go with the no box Joye510 kit from cignot.com. For under $40 it seems like a no brainer as a way to get into the world of vaping without spending an arm and a leg. Not saying that's what you should necessarily go for, just suggesting that you find something you think you might like that may not put you out too much or put too much pressure on you. From the looks of most of the advice I've read here it seems clear that eventually I'll wind up with a few different models. Point is, I wouldn't think of it as which 'one' should you get...but moreso which one should you get first.

Just like when I made the stupid decision to start smoking in the first place - I tried a bunch of different brands before deciding which one to stick with... I didn't sit back and think "which brand should I make my own" first. That's the way I'm trying to approach it anyhow.

Then again, what do I know?
My first kit isn't getting here until the end of the week....

:)

I started with a 510 and it enabled me to quit tobacco for good. Since then I have evolved but I am glad I started off with a simple 510. It enabled me to have some future upgrades available to me.
If you start off with a mod, you have nowhere to go with the hobby :)
Start off simple and progress from there.

Thanks... lots of good advice... the 510 seems so popular... one question about the 510... is the TW Tornado like the 510? or an upgraded version of it?

~also~ people talk about upgrading a 510 or KR808... what parts or pieces do people upgrade?

Thanks.

The Tornado/eGo is a upgraded version of the 510 - better battery life, better flavour, vapor, etc, etc.

I currently use the 510, my next pv will be the eGo. I recommend that you spend the xtra dollars and get the Tornado/eGo. If you order from TW make sure you add on the quick usb charger.

DON'T buy ANYTHING from a mall kiosk:) It is almost certainly guaranteed to be of poor quaility and VASTLY more expensive than a quality starter set:(

I've tried many of them, but, if I had it to do all over again I would start with the no box kit @ www.cignot.com It's $35 and you can get juice there as well:) It is a quality set up to get your feet wet and decide if you want to vape:) Some people recommend the kr808 which is only 2 pieces vs the 510 which is 3 pieces.

If you decide to keep vaping you will most certainly move up to a mod for consistency and more battery life. Just my nickel:)

I too wanted my first one to be the best, after a month of research I went with a kr8 from V4L. There are a lot of places to buy from and I believe any one of the businesses on this site would do you right.

As far as the refill fears, I had them too, But the CCFM method of refilling the cartomizers seems to work very well and is VERY easy and fast.
I do not have a 510 (I probably will try one at some point though, when I have a couple of extra bucks) I am sure I made the right choice for me because Cartos and the XL batts I have last a long time between refills and recharges.(only have to charge the batts while I am sleeping)

Good luck in your quest:rolleyes:

The advantages of the no box 510 from cignot is you're not paying for any fancy packaging. There are only so many manufacturers of electronic cigarettes. Joye tech is one of the best manufacturers for the 510. A company can purchase in bulk and have their logo and designs printed on e-cig and boxes, but it is still a rebranded 401, 510, 901, 801 or 808. I believe they all still use proprietary batteries that look like part of the e-cig. The big battery mods use removable, rechargeable batteries that are much less expensive and last much longer. The stock batteries will last maybe 2 hours on a full charge. The vapor and th will fall off as the battery discharges. The bigger batteries can last up to 2 days (obviously depending on usage). I have found no significant drop off in production as the day wears on. I would suggest choosing the atomizer that works best for you and then moving on to the battery mods. The 510 is as good a place as any to start and cignot (or any of the vendors here) won't set you back like mall prices. I'm always amazed at the price the kiosks want for a set that I can buy out of China for <$40.00 shipped. Good luck.

Welcome to the forum lasttango! I, like many here, started out with the Joye510 from Cignot. The 510, for me, has been great. I have not had any problems with it at all. Great vapor and TH which is what I was looking for. Today, my husband just received his Tornado and all I can say is WOW! The vape on it is extreme and the juice tasted marginally better than it does with my 510. But starting out on this new journey, I would certainly recommend the 510 and then go from there. Good Luck!

Is the KR808 the only thinner-cig diameter e-cig that is relatively highly rated by users on this site?
Seems the 510/tornado/ego/kr808 are the 4 most people are recommending...

both the standard 510 and the KR8 are cig diameter (9 mm) ..think the 510 is about 113 mm long, KR8 is about 117 mm.. (fully assembled standard battery length)

510 is a 3 piece model.. eGo is a bigger battery version of the 510 (battery lasts 10+ hours versus 2 (650mAh versus 180mAh))..it's wider (14mm) so it's more like a stubby cigar kind of feel.. tornado is just a rebranding/renaming of the eGo ..just like titan is a renamed 510 (company specific names)..so reguardless attomizers and carts and batteries are all interchangeable..

KR8 is a 2 piece model.. cartomizers hold more juice and taste different than the 510 due to the amount of heat they produce compared to the 510...vapor production is usually not as substantial as the 510...I don't find the KR8 nearly as smooth either..they seem to run very airy on the draw which I don't particularly like..
What I would do...I'd go with the eGo/Tornado ....and replace the filler material in the cartirdge with blue foam (or one of the other cart mods)
then I'd get a 510 battery to 901/808 adapter and some cartomizers (prefilleds or blanks)
When trying to establish nic lvls and flavors that are right for you I find the 510/eGo/tornado way cheaper than dealing with cartos because you can drip or easily rinse out carts if you really dont like the flavor or easily dilute juices if they're too strong..

The general consensus is the 510 produces MORE vapor without a doubt, and generally performs better in the vapor department according to experienced vapers who use both. KR8s are an excellent, simplistic go-to device that are generally fiddle free, produce adequate vapor, and last a good while (battery and cartridge volume). The eGo/TW makes the 510 battery life a non issue though. You need to ask yourself if you want performance or simplicity, think mustang vs honda civic. Best of luck

To get off analogs, the 510 satisfies the feel of smoking, the kr8 replicates the simplicity.

I think I would get the KR8 kit and a couple of 510 attys with a 510 adapter. You should buy juice anyway so for only $20 extra you get both. The KR8 batteries are better than the 510 batteries.

I wish I had known that earlier. I would have never bought a 510 battery even though the 510 is my go to atty.

Researching voltages shows that this kr8 batt + 510 atty combo is an excellent choice :) You get the higher volts and discharge life of the kr8 AND the power/satisfaction of a 510.

For a beginner, grab a cignot starter kit for $35 bucks>> Joye 510 NO BOX

This will let you get your berings with the device, you can then see what you want from the device and pick mods accordingly :)
