hi all,

WOW! so many great responses, and very helpful! It has helped me feel less overwhelmed. I think I have narrowed it down to the K808 (or whatever that # is) from the vapor4 life, the Volt, or the 510.

Question: I am not terribly interested in buying liquid that I have to fill into the little ends myself. I see that the k808 and the volt have prefilled ones? But could I buy the prefilled ones for the 510 too?

Also, someone mentioned a flavor I should try for Marlboro light lovers, but I couldn't seem to find that on any of the sites I looked at. Can anyone recommend a flavor (prefilled) that I should try and if they come for any of these models? Volt looked like it had something called "smooth" flavor. Also, do you think 12mg is a good start for a 10/day marlboro light smoker? I did see one person say 18, and one say 8, so maybe in the middle?

Anyway, thanks again all, you really helped. And now I at least have narrowed it down and know which are the reputable sites/vendors to be looking at. I am at home now, and I keep thinking "ah, i'll go have a smoke now!" and it hits me like a ton of bricks when I realize.... I think having an e cig will really help with that.

I'd get a range of nicotine strengths, at least 12 and 18. I just started last week and I like being able to go with, say, 12, and then go up to 18 if the cravings are strong. Flavor someone else will have to answer -- I don't know prefilled cartos.

I'm not going to try to change your mind about prefilled cartos, but just for comparison here's what I have to do to fill cartos
- pop the little top off with a Q-Tip broken in half
- hold the carto at a 45 degree angle
- drip into it while I rotate it, until it won't take any more drops.

That's it. I get not wanting to deal with the hassle, but it's something most people usually end up doing since prefilled cartos have a very narrow range of flavors compared to juices you can get in a bottle.

If you want to use pre-filled cartos, then just buy everything from Vapor4Life. They have the best selection of pre-filled cartos, with plenty of different flavors to choose from. Vapor King E-Cigarette Cartomizers They also have outstanding customer service.

Grab a tobacco sampler pack. The 555, Traditional, or Wowboy will probably be the closest to the Marlboros you are used to. WOW Vapor Tobacco Shop Cartomizer Sampler (Box of 5) - Premium Electronic Cigarette Cartomizers Do yourself a favor and try a few flavors that are not tobacco flavored. As you cease smoking, your senses of taste and smell will become much more acute, and you will find that basic tobacco flavor isn't all that great. Not to say tobacco juices are bad. No no no. I am just saying that you should branch out a little. A great tobacco flavor is RY4. It's a must try flavor, from any vendor.

I am a pack-a-day smoker of Winston lights, and I am very happy at 12-18mg strength. 12mg should be perfect for you.

If you do go with V4L, grab the XL starter kit. Vapor King Ultimate Starter Kit - Customizable Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit, Only at V4L! Make one battery a manual and the other an auto, so you can decide for yourself which you prefer. Later on, you can buy extra batteries @ $16.50 each. Make the passthrough a manual IMHO.

Enjoy!

First thing to understand is that none of the juices really taste like the cigarettes that you have been smoking. Some will have a taste that might be similar, but not the same.

The level of Nicotine is a different matter. I was a pack a day smoker, marlboro menthol gold pack. I bought many different samples of liquid and ended up liking the Halo menthols best. The first samples were 12 mg and I vaped heavy with those, so on my next order I got 18 mg juices. I have discovered that the 18 is too high to allow me to vape as much as I would like to. Nicotine overdose... not really, but I have to put the PV down and take a break.

If you want a few hits and then a break then the 18 mg will likely work, but I would recommend trying the 12 mg juices and just vape longer rather than buying 18 mg juice and still wanting the physical action of smoking. Or better yet buy a smaller sample of 18 and some 12 mg as well.

Keep in mind she's using a nic patch as well. I think your typical marlboro has about 12mg per stick, a little less for lights.

Taste-wise: I like Desert Ship (vaguely Kamel) and USA-Turkish Blend (Camel classic, i think), as well as 555 (nutty, sometimes called Highway) and French Pipe. A lot of places will have "Marls" "Marl Bros" or "Cowboy" as their marlboro flavor.

The best way I can describe the actual flavor is that the liquid will taste the way an unburned cigarette will smell.

Also, and maybe this is just me, I find myself wanting a real cigarette less often when I'm vaping a non-tobacco flavor.
