i tried to give up smoking and using an e-cig instead about a year ago. i stopped, the ecig i was using just wasnt doing it for me. after having more breathing problems and more nasty side effects from "analogs" i decided to give it a second try. not only the side effects but the government put the "schip" stealing money for wellfare program into effect not that long ago. it took my favorite form of smoking and made it unaffordable over night. i used to make my own cigarettes, when that tax went forward it drove the price of bulk tabbaco from $12 per pound up to nearly $40 per pound. so now i have my choice between $10 packs of marboros or $19 carton of nasty indian smokes. the government, especailly in new york state is out of control with their sin taxes. smoking should be a personal choice and the cost shouldnt penalize something thats legal, the money does NOT go to the health costs of smoking anyways. its one big lie and a huge scam

i realize now that the ecig i was trying before was not a good model, it was an njoy npro. i know that the concept is sound but the npro is not consistant in delivering a solid drag. i ordered a titan 510 this time around from totally wicked. im hoping it works better. i bought that npro at a gas station. by the time i bought the unit and extra carts it was almost 100 bucks. i realize now that it was a poor choice, it kind of turned me off of ecigs. allot of money and not a good performance. i should have bought another run right off the bat, but i went back to analogs. now im getting sick of them again, so i decided to try ecigs again. this time hopefully i bought a better unit.

p.s.
why does it appear that the government wants to make them illegal? something that helps people quit without become raging luntics should be look at as a blessing.

Hi ad. The (futile?) attempt at a government ban of ecigs is not as much of an example of "government being a bad thing as it is an example of how we've let corporations steal and control most of our government. It's the big tobacco and pharma lobbyists who are manipulating lawmakers to try this crap. If these corporate interests didn't see ecigs as a threat this wouldn't be happening.
I personally don't think it will lead to much more than a little regulation.

hey! welcome to ECF and your choice to be healthier! I started on a 510 as well. I've been vaping for seven months, and even in this short time, there's been so many advances that I've seen in personal vaporizers and juices. I think the trick will be to find the juices that you love, and always be sure to have a decent supply of them in a variety of nicotine strengths (I've fallen off the wagon for not having a high enough nic strength thru stressful times) Once you get the hardware down, it's just the maintenance and juice.. and you will find SO many helpful people on this forum, with thousands of ideas and opinions, and most of all, encouragement, to help you along. To me, it's invaluable!

Regarding your ps.. it's the big tobacco industry.. the taxes the government gets on tobacco equals money.. if you aren't buying cigarettes, you're not making them money while killing yourself.

Best of luck to you, and welcome, again, to the forum!!

dont even know what happened to the njoy, i really gave up on it. im hoping the 510 will rock.

why does the government want you to kill yourself with cigarettes. the fact that the government wants you to kill your self period is messed up. it does seem what is legal will kill you. examples cigarettes and alcohol, both highly addictive and can also be deadly.while a certain little plant that has never caused a death is completely illegal, and has been for the last 70 years. even when that plant is grown to produce industrial products it is still illegal. it has never caused a death and is not physically addictive. i wont mention what that plant is but i think you guys can figure it out.

the funny thing is that the government likes to say that they are raising the price of tobacco in an effort to get people to quit smoking. its a huge lie, they really dont want to get people to quit they just want to steal your money. when i started smoking i would have never thought in a million years that a single pack of cigarettes would cost 10 bucks locally.

one question i do have is how do you gauge when to put the e cig down. with a traditional cigarette you generally put it down when its burned up, its kind of a given. with an ecig you dont have a cigarette that burns down

also i wonder how the people at work will deal with it. im not going to use it inside the building but i just have a feeling people are going to look at me funny when i go outside to use it. it doesnt really look like a cigarette. i have a feeling im going to get questions, questions, questions. the hr where i work is made up of a bunch of jerks, so i wouldnt risk using it inside. i dont think they would accept it too much, even though its not really a cigarette

Yea, it ...... me off when they raised the tax on bulk tobacco by 1500%. Make the tax 15 times as large! Geez! Still cheaper than buying factory cigs, but not my as much as before. Can you imagine if they raised gasoline tax by 1500%?

I bought two 510s and a PCC. Then I bought 2 more 510s and another PCC. This
way I am unlikely to not have a charged battery and a working ecig. I bought a selection of e-liquids. Hoping to eventually get it down to a few favorites (the "smoke" flavour from vtvapor.com seems like a keeper.)

I have not given up burning tobacco yet, but I burn a lot less. Maybe one day I'll completely stop burning it. That would be nice. Unfortunately once the government catches on to e-cigs they'll probably throw on a large nicotine tax.

edit: So far I have not had a problem with people at work. Some ask questions. Easy enough to answer - it is my nicotine vaporiser - no tar and fewer bad chemicals - not as good as not doing nic, but a step in the right direction.

to place a "sin tax" on something like an e cig which is really a harm reduction device is harmful to society and downright stupid. well our current government is stupid so i wouldnt put it past them. it still would be a terrible idea. i say leave the prices alone and maybe just have the normal state and federal taxes on it. i could also see them banning flavored e liquid. it just wont stop with this idiotic government.

Hi AD! I just started e-smokes late Thursday afternoon. I continued analogs along with it, but I was surprised at myself that I cut my analog intake down by 85% the first full day, and 92% the next. I have not had an analog in a little over 13 hours. I am praying that today will be 100%.

An e-cig is different from smoking analogs, but you're not a jittery mess from nicotine withdrawal. The taste is different, but I found that sticking with it, I am not going BLAH with every e-toke like I was on Thursday. My progress, even as short as it has been, is just totally shocking the stew out of me. In the 200 years that I've smoked analogs and being emotionally tied to them, the transformation thus far is close to miraculous!

Like you, I thought...."How am I going to do this....do I place it in a clean ashtray at the computer or what??!!" I'm comparing it to a pain pump like what is used in the hospital after surgery. When you feel pain, you push the button. It's the same thing. When you want an e-toke, take one. It seems that there is no right or wrong way to do this. Now the tips help a great deal. I'm still experimenting and am doing lots better than I was when I got my kit.

As far as the government's role in the cost of analogs, or what you choose to eat, etc......I am an avid Glenn Beck and Fox News person. I believe in God, the 2nd Amendment, the Founding Fathers and what they stood for. You know, a "DON'T TREAD ON ME" person. I think that pretty much explains me. :)

Hi AD welcome! Once I got mine I turned OCD, it was kind of hard to put down! I was using it more than analogs, so it's a learning curve. You'll figure it out, give yourself some time! I do like Saints analogy though;

One big problem with getting consistent, solid drags is the challenge of using automatic batteries.
If you got a 510 with a manual battery, you've solved that problem.

DC2, is that a Charger's e-cig in your avatar? If so, where did you get it? I'm a 'Nawlins Saints' fan and would love to have an NFL e-cig. Not that I'm planning to go to the dome anytime soon, but I think I could get away w/vaping there. I did at a restaurant tonight.....hehehe. :2cool:
