Hello folks, I'm vaping since over two years. I started with a Ego-T and still use it today....I thought it is time to treat myself with something better....the REO gets very good reviews so I thought I cant go wrong. I think I nailed it down to a REO Mini 2.1 mainly due to its small size, I also will order the Reomizer 2,0....the questions is, what else do I need? What wick, what wire, which Brand batteries....there are lots of different sizes of wire and different material wick and I'm kinda lost at this point :) What spare parts should I buy, anything else I need besides the above mentioned and a charger? Sorry for all those noob questions but the world of ecig got pretty overwhelming the last two years in which I did not follow the evolution of all these new products like rebuildable attys and such.

start out with 30 or 32 awg wire and some silica you will soon decide what you like and you want the AW imr batteries 18490

Thanks for the info, I assume lower AWG wire has less resistance hence lower OHM ratings?
I've read on the REO webpage that the Mini 2.1 also accepts 18500 batteries, so would this one work as well?
It has 1500 mAh vs. 1100 mAh for the 18490.
Batteries : AW Protected 18500

Hey Alex! Congrats again on your milestone and on your choice in rewards.

You will want to order an extra spring or two in the event you ever somehow shorted your REO with your RBA. I have several spare springs, but I have never needed one. It's an"just in case", cause like most of us, once you start to REOlize how good vaping can be, you won't ever want to be without your REO. I have bought 7 since October 2012 cause their kinda addictive :)

I use only 30 ga Kanthal A1. You can pick up here for like $6 for a 100' roll :)

The AW IMR 18490 3.7 is the recommended battery. RTD is a great place to get batteries and a charger. Use ECF5 code to get 5% off their already low prices.

You might want a button top, it makes the button more user friendly. You will get an extra bottle with the new REO.

The REO will give you a superior vape in a durable, well constructed package!

Kanthal Wire 30 Gauge RW0107 - 100 FT 0.39oz Series A-1 Resistance AWG

Thanks for the wire-link, I'm going to order one spool.
You bought 7 (seven!!!) REO's since last October? I guess they really must be addictive :)

Any thought on the 18500 battery vs. the 18490?

Thanks

Batteries : AW Protected 18500

You should buy AW IMR 18490s. You should not buy protected batteries. I think 3 batteries is the minimum and a charger. RTD is a good vendor for chargers and the AW IMR batteries. A button cap is a nice accessory for the Reo. You might want to get 30 and 32 gauge wire and find which you prefer. Silicon for wicks are good to start on. You'll need someone to sign for the package when your Reo arrives via the post office. Get an extra spring or two.

You'll love your Reo setup. Feel free to ask any questions here. Reonaughts like to have other Reonaughts to be happy.

Thanks guys for all the great advice, it is much appreciated.
I'm getting this stuff ordered as we speak.
I've seen the rebuild-kits on the REO page, I'm going to order two of them and the button cover, I think that should be all I'd need for a long time.
Alright, I will buy the 18490 batteries and the proper charger.

One last boring question. There is 2.5mm and 3.0mm wick, which one would be the best bet for me?

One more thing. If you do not have a multimeter is really a great devise to have. RTD sells those as well. You can check your batteries for voltage, see if your charger is doing its job and check your RBA for shorts.

The reason for the red AW IMR batteries is that their chemistry is made for high drain applications which vaping low ohms can do. They have lower internal resistance than the protected batteries so they can provide power when asked of it at high amp ranges. They also hold their voltage higher in the useful range that vapers use so even though their capacity is lower their useful range for vaping is better. If they should have a problem, rare indeed, they would vent gas rather than fire like a protected battery would.

again, great advice :toast:
I do have a DMM at home, so I'm all set in this regards.

Way to go bro! Nice treat, but you definitely deserve it.

If I could go back and do it all again, I would have just ordered 2 REOs the first time. One in black wrinkle and the other in silver hammertone. The doors interchange very sweetly between them. And I would have save the shipping costs and anxiety that comes while waiting on another REO.

I bet there are very few REOnauts who only own 1 REO or who actually aren't already planning on getting another :)

Looks good to me. I think ordering two rebuilt kits is overkill if thats what you plan on doing. I've had my grand for 2 1/2 years and replaced one spring which was my fault.

Thanks guys, I cant wait to get the stuff and enjoy the new vaping experience.
Just placed the order for a black wrinkle mini 2.1, 2 rebuild kits, 2 Reomizer's, post screws, diff. sizes wire and wick, spare button and the button cover....

Seems overkill but I'm currently in Mexico, estimated shipping time is 2 weeks, so I have to make sure I have all parts on hand if something breaks...

I guess I'm all-set now.....let's the wait begin :)

I will write an update once I got everything.

Thanks again for all the great help, its much appreciated.

Thanks, I'm already all hyped up :)
I was debating between full black or black box and silver door... Well, maybe I did start the REO addiction as lots of other folks in here and it won't be long before the friendly postal carrier drops the next REO at my doorstep, maybe with silver door :)

My current family - silver VVG, black wrinkle grand w/ silver hammertone door & silver hammertone grand w/ black wrinkle door

GMTA on the black and silver thing :). I feel your pain on the waiting too.

Next will be a black wrinkle VVG.

Welcome to the club! Two weeks waiting would kill me. I think mine took four days to get here and I almost went bonkers. One thing I didn't see mentioned, I use an oring under my atty, one big enough to slip over the 510 connection and just thick enough to be compressed by atty. This does two things first if there is any leakage it keeps it contained but main thing it does is allow you to index your coil so airhole is positioned where you want it. I like to have the airhole opposite the button so its pointing up when I vape.

Yeah, the wait will be a big pita.... BUT based on all the positive reviews of the REO's, I'm quite sure it is worth it.
Thanks for the O-ring tip....once I got the REO I'll look for the proper ring.
