Howdy folks,

Got my 2 650 twists (which I usually run between 380-420), got my 2 vivi nova minis (rinse clean between diff juices, dry and do a burn, and replaced the heads yesterday, both running 2.4 ohm heads). Have only had the stuff since last friday (it's wednesday night now).

Got my gear and 4 x 5ml of juice from Alt Smoke. The Killa Vanilla wasn't bad, but very mild taste, was disappointed. The Blueberry Frost had a fairly strong menthol(?) flavor, and every now and then I could get a sniff of blueberry. The Blue Ice was a fairly strong menthol(?), and the Tiramisu was....unuseable.

Got a sampler pack from Want 2 vape. I've tried about 5 of them in the vivi, none have had much of a taste to them, nothing that I expected. EcoBerry, nothing, no berry, Wild Cherry, no cherry flavor, creamy expresso didnt tast like any expresso I've ever had, etc, etc. I'm trying the Tabal Especial now. Again, tastes like the rest of them, they all seem to taste kind of alike. Very blah, very uneventful and unflavorable. Slow draw, exhale thru the nose.

What am I doing wrong? I was a 1PAD person, but haven't had one since I got the gear. I vape alot, at least I think it's alot, my wife has mentioned to me. I don't mind that I vape alot, but I gotta get something with some flavor to it. Where am I screwing up here?

Hope ya'll can help me. Oh yeah, 18 mg nicotine.

Its the hardest part. Finding the right juices. Ive tried 51 so far. Taste really is subjective. Look for sites with tons of flavor + extra flavor shots. Vape dudes has that option. Ahlusion is very flavorful. Two of my faves are backwoods brew and mountain oak vapors. I like juices heavy on the flavor. Ive tried a lot of samples i just found too light.

I had this recommended to me. I have an order in to them. Nu-Juice Liquid Refill
You can get a custom flavor the nic count you want the flavor level you may want (matter of taste) and so on an so on. Take the flavors you liked and get one with a bit higher flavor level until you hit it.
Keep your expectations realistic. You will get flavor but not not like blueberry pie. Menthol for me kills flavor. I use it to sooth when my sinus is kicking up.

It can take quite awhile (a very long while in my case) for your senses of taste and smell to came back after years of smoking. I have a drawer full of e-liquids I hope someday to be able to taste, but at this point most of them taste like plastic. All I can currently taste is cinnamon and menthol, although I think I got a little bit of the "cake" part of Pina Colada Cupcake today.

I keep telling myself that I won't buy anything else until I can taste what I have, but I just found out the Parks (or it could be Parkes) vapors is having a 30% off sale that applies to their sample packs as well. Decisions, decisions...

Oh if found some of the fruit has a bit more of a throat hit (acid i think). This is the real pain of it. I'm at 20+ flavors so far. I am hooked on apple, cranberry and burbon vanilla. I have maple bacon and cappuccino on order. There are a ton of flavors out there even Kopi Luwak which is that $50 a cup coffee. Sorry I guess this is just a right of passage thing we have to do . We all have dif tastes and not all vendors are the same. Nicotine affects flavor I think. If you have alcohol in it I think that affects it. Just my experience.

Go order some similar flavored flavor shots for the juice you have. They will magnify or completely cover the orig flavor. The don't have to come from the same venders that you bought the juice from. Just find and add Blueberry flavor shots to the blueberry juice and so on. Keep in mind that those will be concentrated flavoring so just add a little at a time until you reach what you are looking for.

You're right on the curve.

Your hardware is usable, your tastebuds and juice is not. Or at least not yet. As you've just quit, your buds aren't really ready to taste juice well, and your juice is (imho) mediocre and not yet steeped. The juice will come together better over the next week, and your buds will do a better job of picking them up too then.

First order of business is to order some really good juice. Benchmark stuff. My personal recommendations would be, based on my curve, a bottle of Lemon Loves Cake from Alice in Vapeland. Mystic Mandalime is also very good. They will give you several 3ml samples with those, that will give you some other points of reference. If you are lucky, you'll get a sample of A Quiet Morning. Very subtle, put it away for a couple weeks until your tastebuds get better. You'll be in a better place to appreciate subtle then.

Then get thee to Ahlusion and get a few small bottles of whatever sounds good to you. A bottle of a tea juice, a bottle of a fruit, and a bottle of maybe a coffee? I highly recommend Tiramisu. Leave the caps off for 2 full days, then put away for a week. By then, you will have used quite a bit of your first juices and will have a good reference to appreciate real artisanal juices. And the juices will have steeped. I was REALLY skeptical of the whole steeping thing, until I did it. Amazing metamorphosis, especially some of the Ahlusion stuff, the AIV juices are better for getting right into if need be.

ANYway, you aren't doing anything wrong, and your experience so far is more typical than atypical. If I can make one more suggestion, get a regular atomizer with a drip tip for your twist. Those are much better for "tasting" your juices. The Vivi's are real convenient but in my opinion, not only do they mute the juices vs. an atty, but they tend to make the juices have some of that "taste alike" problem by the time you start getting near the bottom of the tank.

Your biggest first hurdle is going to be figuring out what your preferences are. Strong vs. subtle, fruity or desserty or tobacco, etc. But again imho, it is better to do that with really good juices and only once your sense of smell and taste start coming back to you. Your tastes will likely change dramatically in the first several weeks. I've learned quickly that vaping isn't a destination, it is a journey.

I agree with Moueix completely. You are still healing from the stinkys. I have never tried the juices you are now vaping so I can't give you my impression other than the fact that most juices do better when you leave them alone for a week to 'mature'. If your juices are still leaving you wanting, my :2c: will be to order from Heathers Heavenly Vapes, Top Quality Custom E-Liquids. Their juices do not disappoint, IMHO.

Wait, wait. No one mentioned that you'll love a juice one day and you swear it'll be your all day vape and then comes tomorrow and you hate it. Out of roughly 50 flavors I have been through only three manage to make it to my daily routine most of the time. But it's fun checking them out and revisiting them later. You never had this much fun buying a pack of smokes now did ya?

When I am vaping it tastes like I am sucking the battery. Why is that?

If you're using a cartomizer, did you fill it before using? If you're using an atomizer, you need to add liquid to the cartridge that goes on the top of it...will have white fluffy stuff in it.

Im glad everyone is finally adressing the hardware issues if its an issue. What type of atomizer or carto are you using, make sure you check out youtube for " how to videos" PBusardos videos are great and very informative and he has all levels of experience to choose from. Sometimes it just a simple thing that you may or not be doing right.

One other thing, what type of juice are you using aside from the flavour you havent mentioned the PG/VG ratio. This is a big factor in the lack of taste or the burning etc. If your juice is too high in VG you might be having wicking issues and also high VG juice has a bit more subdued flavour. Let us know these small details and watch the videos. There is always more than one way to fill a carto and if you are using an atomizer you need to learn how to prime it correctly and the flavour takes a bit longer to develop as the atty breaks in. Plus if you say you have a tank there are many type of tanks out there so letting us know what you have or watching the videos you will find out the ways to use each one properly.

Being here is the first best step , there are many good people here with all sorts of different preferences and level of experience but we have all been where you are and made most of the mistakes there are to make. Just be sure to have enough e-juice on hand because the learning curve can cause you to go through a 30 ml bottle in days. I must have burned, spilled , more than 30 mls in the first week, and not to mention swallow so much, thank goodness its not too toxic and my juice was not too high in nic, I did have my share of the shakes from too much nicotine. Just drink lots and lots of water and brush your teeth and tongue. There will be some mild to more severe withdrawal symptoms and your taste buds might go thru the " dead stage" as you become accustomed to tasting again and more adjustments in the weeks to come. We all get the " dead buds" sometimes weeks after and you might be going thru some of the first ones right now.

We all like different things so you just have to go through trial and error. For instance, some of the vendors/liquids recommended to you on here, I cannot stand and I am sure others feel the same about my choices. Hit the sales and sample packs to cut down on losses until you find what works for you.

Finding the flavors which make your taste buds happy is a lot harder than clicking choices which read "delicious" on a website, but it looks like you're finding that out first-hand. There are forum sections devoted to ejuice/ejuice reviews by folks who have tried them already. Do some reading and see how often you see certain vendors more than others as recommendations for the types of flavors you like. You'll see a definite pattern, because some vendors have set themselves apart from others with exceptional juices. You'll see who the "others" are, too, and may perhaps save some time/money in the process.

Couldn't agree more. I thought black cherry was gonna be one of my favorites and now I can only vape for very short times with it. I'm still using the ry4 for most of my vaping, but still looking for that knock your socks off flavor. I know it's out there I just got to find it.

Finding the right flavor eliquid for you is the most difficult (and costly) part of vaping. Since your in NorCal, I'm sure there are vaper lounges in your area that sells eliquid as well as give you the opportunity you to sample them. Once you narrow down your eliquid taste preference, either order samples bottles (3-5ml) from venders here (pick ones that allow you to pick your own samples) or search/ask for recommendations over at e-liquid discussion subforum for specific type of eliquid (i.e. best tobacco, menthol, dessert, beverage, fruit, etc.). :vapor:
