Hi guys,
I am still new to these clearomizers I got the kanger protank 2 on the advice from a co worker and when I picked one up it vaped great for two days ( I have an itaste mvp v2) then it started leaking and popping coils I am on my fifth head already I have my mvp set on 7watts and 3.8 watts I am using 2.5ohm heads I tried dry burning the fourth one and I noticed an improvement but 6hours later my vapor production went south and it flooded. Note, I try not to let it get to loq because I know the pressure difference can make the tanks leak so I don't think thats my issue.

I'm having the same kind of issues with ALL my Protank-II's. I don't like them anymore. They don't work with thinner e-juices. For example, I can't go any higher than 3 Volts (which is the minimum usage voltage!) with any of my setups / coils when using Halo's Midnight Apple - it simply burns, burns, burns and tastes like crap. The same liquid leaks from the bottom from a time to time. And after a while, using any new atomizer head, you'll endup having the juice in your mouth. This tank SUCKS. No use to use just one wick on the atomizer, no use of using the two provided in the original ones, the results are just the same. I know, it's the juice... Halo should thicken these a bit! But maybe KangerTech should do something too!

I recommend using iClear30, I love those ones! I have a couple of them and I haven't had any issues with them, and I've been using them for the last 4 months daily. And I'm still using the original atomizer heads! Now that's high quality. I LOVE the taste and feel I get from the ProTank at first (with the Halo juice), but it loses it's meaning (of vaping) after a few puffs. The meaning? Well, vaping should be fun. Using a ProTank simply is not fun...

ProTank 2's are really popular for some reason. I even started with one and had the same problems everyone else does. Pick up an Aspire BDC for ~ $10 from Highdesertvapes, nhaler or discountvapers. You won't be disappointed. The coil in my wife's burned out tonight I think but it's 3 weeks old. No flooding, no dry hits and great flavor.

I hated my Protank 2 for the first month I had it. I don't know what I've done different since then, but the last 4 months have been amazing. Tons of vapor, nice flavor, and it works pretty nice with my Itaste vv3. I do alot of lurking on these forums and maybe its just me, but so many people hate the Protanks that it almost makes it feel like some people don't even get to enjoy theres. They just follow others and give up on it right away.

I've had similar issues on my mvp as well...

You can buy a base for a protank2 mini and it works just fine with the normal protank2. I did it and I haven't had any of the typical issues with my tank since. I know vapor alley sells them but I'm sure they can be had elsewhere.

If anyone here happens to have a mini base lying around feel free to stick it on your normal protank2 and back me up :)

I have the Protank 2 and Mini Protank 2. I've been using both of them for about 2 months now on a Vamo V5 as well as eGo-C Twist. I haven't had any leaking problems and have never popped a coil. I am actually still using the original 4 atomizer heads, that came with the tanks, one of which hasn't been used at all yet.

Here's what I do:

I take apart, clean and dry burn each atomizer head before every other tank refill or when taste and/or vapor seem to diminish. I rotate between atomizers, setting one aside, while using the other 2 in the tanks. I also make sure to put the flavor wicks, that were on top of the coil, back in, when re-assembling the head. Finally, I pull slightly, on the contact pin at the bottom of the atomizer head, to decompress the rubber grommet, then push it back in, just until it makes contact with the grommet. Always make sure the grommet on the bottom of your atomizer is full and not torn before each use because this will cause the tank to leak.

It seems to work, at least for me.

To back up the Mini Protank 2 base comment, the mini base, does in fact fit both the Protank 1 and 2.

Interestingly, I just got a MVP2. One Protank 2 works and the other doesn't. The one that doesn't was purchased from a store in Ft Lauderdale and there are subtle differences in packaging compared to the one I got from a trusted online store. (the Ft Lauderdale one says Kangertech TM in the upper right whereas the other one that works says Kangertech R. The font looks slightly different in terms of thickness).

Backing up ///M Dood - all my mini protank2's work well on it.

I dont understand why so many people flame the protank 2, it is a great device that is very reliable if you use it properly. I will give you my 2 cents on each of the issues that you describe.

First of all I would suggest using the 1.5 ohm heads instead of the 2.5 ohm ones. I have a protank 2 and an ego twist, and I have used pretty much all of the different resistance heads on it and i think the 1.5 ohm heads are the best to use for several reasons. I vape pretty much everything at 3.8 volts with the ego, and rarely ever get any dry hits, even with thick juices. One thing I think a lot of people dont understand is that the coils dont last very long (if you vape all day a coil will maybe last 2-3 days) Also with the 1.5 ohm heads if your tank starts to flood just turn up the voltage close to max, i promise you will burn the juice faster than it can flood and after awhile you can back it down and resume normal operation. I think the main reason why people get dry hits with the pro tank is because they use their coils too long and they get gunked up.

As far as the tank flooding, it seems to me that the number one reason that this happens has nothing to do with flooding through the wick, its because the coil becomes loose slightly and if you take the coil out, clean the part it screws into, and re tighten it down, it generally fixes it for me.
