I've got a PT2 coming and since it's my first 'proper' APV setup (MVP2/PT2) it'll be interesting to see what pitfalls I encounter with it.

I will say the main reason I chose the PT2 is that it looks like a pretty straightforward tank for microcoil/cotton builds which is primarily how I'll be using it (I don't like buying replacement atomizers) - if it works it'll be a handy stopgap until I can afford a genuine KFL+

I'll keep this thread updated with my (mis)adventures :D

I have 4 PT2's and use them all, different flavors. With every refill I use q-tips to go through the drip tip and down the tube, then remove drip tip and dab the top of the tank. It always picks up something and I rarely get gurgling or flooding. On that rare occasion it does flood, I hold a napkin under it and blow through the drip tip, clean bottom of tank and contact point on unit, vape away. All of these ideas are things I read and tried, and it works for me. At 4-8 watts, mostly 5, and 2.2 ohm I get about 4-8 tanks per coil, and most of the time I let them get as low as where the glass ends.

The q-tip out the box won't fit through the tube but a few seconds of fiddling with it will thin it out enough.

I tried cleaning coils and had limited success, but I reckon with time I will get better at that.

edit: I have also had success cranking up the watts to 9 to clear a flood. Another tip I tried is to push the fire button 1/2 to 1 second before drawing. That takes 3-4 draws to clear a flood, but also helps sometimes.

My girl and me both got mini protank 2's and neither of us have had an issue with them so far. However her mom got one from same B&M store we got ours from and her's keeps leaking liquid. I took it apart and the seals look fine just that it might be a dud. We both love our tanks just sucks when you get a dud especially when you are new to this and trying to quit analogs because it makes it frustrating.

Using ProTanks, ProTanks II, Mini ProTanks, and Mini Protanks II. Use the 2.5 ohm coils. Don't do anything special as far as cleaning. I just fill the tanks. After about 3-4 weeks I change all the coils and toss the old ones into abag to be cleaned and new flavor wirks installed. I use 80PG/20VG and 75PG/25VG juices. The only issue I had was with one ProTank that appeared to be made during the introduction of the ProTank II. It had a ProTank II bottom and the top was original proTank. It was just "pressed together" and it leaked after a week. I carry these tanks daily and don't baby them. Sure hope I haven't jinked myself.

I've read a few threads that start with problems with Protanks but i can never relate. I read a couple of comments on this thread and realised that people that use high pg ratio liquids are the ones with the leaking gurgling protanks. Personally i only use 100% vg so my protanks don't ever leak at all. So i guess protanks just aren't any good for pg. It's no surprise to me though. It's like water that pg. Pg in a bottom coil clearo is asking for trouble...

Ever since I've switched to 50pg 50vg ratio never had an issue.

Before the things I found that worked are as follows

Don't over tighten ever

Don't puff your ecig like an analog cause Alot of condensation build up. Slower draws work better

Invest in a 2 dollar needle tip bottle cap and never worry about messes or juice in center post while refilling

When refilling your tank always clean the areas that "seal" the tank. If old juice builds up there the tank can not properly seal and juices can make there way into center post cause you don't have a proper vacuum seal.

If your using same tank for same juice over and over make sure to clean it fully atleast once a week to prevent build up

If using tank for different juices clean thoroughly between juices and dry thoroughly as well that way no left over flavor or juice to cause issues

A little bit of proper maintenance fixes most issues in my experience

Wow this thread kinda exploded lol. I think it was faulty heads I purchased from an online vendor I ordered.two 5 packs and 9 out of the ten were defective the rubber grommets were deformed and made it not get any air flow like sucking on a stopped up straw I put away my protank for now I bought an aspire bdc which was a letdown too so I went back to my boge f16 and have not had any issues with it. I might go back to my protank when I get over wasting 20$ on faulty heads

Great YouTube video here on microcoiling your PT2 - Candi's not a 'pro' vaper but she still makes it look easy :)

I really want to try rebuilding the heads when I have the resources.to purchase the required tools I heard rebuilt heads are waay better then the ones you can buy

Yes - cheaper, last longer, easy to maintain (pull out the old wick and slot a fresh bit of cotton wool in) and many vapers say that cotton wicks have a much better flavour than silica/SS etc.

The first hour I had it, I really thought I just wasted 20 bucks.
I ripped it apart and removed one of the top silica wicks. Don't do this unless you have tried it with both wicks in it for a good vape session.
I then played with the PW settings and the VV settings, My watts are set to 6 and my volts are set to 4. Basically what I have always vaped at. If you haven't tried the silica wick removal you should give it a go, it definately helps. Also, try cleaning and dry burning it really well!

My ProTank was also leaking the beginning. I was very frustrated with it but I kept trying because I bought it and then I dropped it and broke it and I thought I was free! However, I could not just walk away without conquering it so I ordered another one. After finding this site and reading reviews I had an epiphany! Use the beauty ring and tighten against the tank after screwing the tank on. This allowed me to have a tighter draw and I have not had any problems ever since. Keep in mind not to leave this tank in the heat (such as your car) because the heat will thin out your juice and you will flood! The beauty ring only works on devices that have ego threading with 510 threading such as a VAMO (which is what I currently use). Hope this helps!

i can relate to the copper showing on my old pro tanks..the first one i got leaked bad found out it never came with a o ring on the base.lol
i also have saved all my old coils to rebuild..my 1.8 coils read out to 2.0 but all the 2.5's i got with the tanks were all bad cept for one
i use 1.8's for the simple fact it dosent require much power to heat them i get better battery life... i never seen a need to get the higher ohm coils ..am i missing something..? is there a added something running higher ohm coils..? but man is it easy to fry a 1.8 if you jack up the watts had a new coil in and a friend was messin with my mvp and had set it to 11 watts and one vape n the coil fried..lol
but i get coils cheap @ 1 buck each but now i am going to micro coil/cotton wick em
i remove one flavor wick on the old pt's but the pt2 i leave em both in unless i am vapin 70%vg juice:vapor:
