My first e-cig order arrived on Saturday afternoon. Of course, I had to wait for the battery to charge, but I tried it just before I went to bed that night. Yesterday morning, I just started out with the e-cig instead of an analog, and I found I actually prefer the e-cig.

I've been smoking for over 40 years and was up to about 3 packs a day. Yesterday, I smoked 2 analogs, mostly just to see how they would taste after a day of e-cigs. They weren't bad, but I don't crave one at all! And I love not having to have an ashtray - when I'm done vaping, I just lay the e-cig down on the table and I'm good till the craving hits again. I can take a few drags off the e-cig and put it back down. OTOH, I might smoke it as long as an analog would last - just whatever pleases me. I don't feel the need to "finish this cigarette" before I do something, don't have to go outside, none of that aggravating stuff that goes with smoking.

The only problem I've had is that the carts don't seem to be uniform in the amount of liquid that's in them. I ordered the pre-filled, didn't know enough to order the liquid. But I have a small order of liquid on the way, and I'm realizing I'll need more.

This is absolutely the best thing that I could have imagined for replacing traditional smoking. I have no intention of quitting, but this totally satisfies me. How cool is that???? :D:D

Ramblin, I got the DSE901 but I also have the DSE801 on the way. I do wish, though, that I had gotten a black one instead of this one, which looks too much like a real cig. Don't want to draw attention in case I need a hit in public, doncha know?

I've given that some thought and might end up modding mine to hide the LED glow.

Chewing on something that looks like a pen is a little less conspicuous.

Dawnfox, I know what you mean. I keep thinking I'm going to burn something every time I put the e-cig down. Love it!

e-pipeman, where do I get the glycerin and what do I do with it? I thought the e-juice was all I needed. Sorry for my ignorance, but I really don't have a clue what I'm doing - figuring it out as I go. Thanks!

You can get the glycerine from a pharmacy. Just pop a drop in a cartridge and off you go! You'll find loads of really useful stuff if you do a search on "glycerine" here! Good luck! :)

if you are in the UK you can get glycerine from boots the chemist for 99p for 200ml. if you are in the states then try your local pharmacy.

get a empty dropper bottle and fill it up with 7ml juice, then add 3ml of glycerine (must be food grade glycerine), give it a shake and then top up or refill your carts or direct drip.

you can add more or less juice or glycerine until you find a mix you like.

some guys like a 50/50 mix but i prefer 7:3 as it wont affect the flavour so much.

some vids to help you:-

here rita shows you about mixing

YouTube - Custom E-Liquid for E-Cigarette

and here is a DSE901 user and maintenance guide that i made

First, congratulations! This is exactly my theory on why e-cigs work so well and you may actually consume less nicotine that when smoking analogs (depending). That was my issue, I always hated lighting up a ....- tasted funky- so I'd always finish it. Now I can puff when I want to and set it down!

just a quick question about glycerine, I found some next to the food colourings in Tescos. It seems really thick. Is this the right stuff?

yes mate, but you are far better off to get it from boots.

only 99p for a big 200ml bottle!

it will thin out when you mix it with your juice

I'm a newbie...hear me rant!

I quit tobacco just about 4.5 months ago, and I'm sort of jones'n a smoke. Not too bad, mind you, but I've quit before for over 9 months (longest stretch) and the old stress bug did me in, and now I'm satrting to think I may slip again. Enter e-cigs.

I was reading the newspaper, and wouldn;t you know it, they were complaining about the kiosks in the shopping malls hawking e-cigs as dangerous alternatives to tobacco (and a general menace to society, as I recall). Well, this did not have the intended affect; I end up finding this forum, and in particular Igetcha's videos. Needless to say, I ordered a 901 (Totally Wiked) on Saturday, and here we go!

This forum has been great, Igetcha's videos are awesome, and that new one he posted on DIY flavour mixing is cool, too. And, of course, the government do-gooders are really pissing me off! I finally find what may be my Nirvana (vape in my flat, vape in my car, vape in the casino...vape all I want), and now there is talk of a ban. Grr... I hate Mondays!!! :p

Anyways, thanks to all the vets for posting and doing their thing. It is greatly appreciated. I haven't even received my vaping kit yet, and I already talked a friend (current smoker) into trying it out. He's stoked about the possibilities.

I hope this 901 works out half as much as I dream it will...I'm really jones'n.

Hi! Like you, I was up to about three packs a day but I haven't been smoking for 40 years. I have been smoking for a long time, though. Since I started vaping almost 2 weeks ago, I haven't missed analogs at all. In fact, I still have four cigarettes in my purse that I need to throw out. I haven't wanted them at all.

The only thing is, when I put my e-cig down and then, knowing I was just "smoking", I look for my lit cig in an ashtray and it takes me a second to realize I need to be looking for my e-cig instead.

Like you, I LOVE this. I am no longer planning to quit-- which is a big weight off my mind. I don't have to pay $50 for a carton anymore (that's the price as of tomorrow here), and I can vape away happily. My car smells perfectly clean, my house is smelling really good when I get home, and my teeth are staying white (I just got them cleaned last week). So, I'm really happy!

igetcha, I was looking for that maintenance video of yours for about 1/2 hour today and didn't see it! I am SO glad you posted it here, too. Thanks!

I was too embarrassed at the amount I smoked to put that quitting smoking banner in my signature, but do you know that in 12 days I would have smoked 775 cigarettes? YUCK!
