Since i can't post in the "ask the veterans" section i thought i could ask here.
I have an eGo e-cig and i am down to my 3rd atomizer. The one that came in with the kit burnt out in 10 minutes so i had to order another 2.
They both worked perfect for a couple of days but now they deliver a harsh taste and very little vapour.
In the beggining the taste was great and smooth and the vapor was very satisfying.
I tried cleaning them with water and dry burning but to no avail.
Can anyone please help me? These 2 atomizers still function but make a hissing sound. It was a hissing since the beggining but very slight (barely noticeable) and now they hiss like they're about to burst.

Hi and welcome to ecf...

Look at the link I provided in previous post.....you can find answers there,,,,,I use tanks and cartomizers, not a straight atty person myself..sometimes, atties are just noisy, just make sure they are wet but not flooded....an atty is either dead or not....if one is getting too hot, let it cool down before vaping again,.

Generally with my atomizers that happens when they are about dead or they have to much juice in them. Try blowing on the atomizer from the battery end into a napkin or something. This will clear out the extra juice. The hissing is normal on a healthy atomizer. I find that it gets less as the atomizer wears down. The burnt taste could come from running the cartridges dry and doing that will also decrease the life of the atomizer in a big way.

Hope that helps some, good luck.

Thanks guys. I may have been a little misunderstood about the hissing. I wasn't complaining about it just saying it happens louder as i thought it might have something to do with the atomizer problem.
The atomizers work in that they get hot and produce vapor. So they aren't burnt out but they produce bad taste (burn/harsh) and little vapor.
Everything was fine when i bought them and the liquid is the same from the start. The only problem seems to be about the atomizer in some way.
Should i clean them with vinegar or 96% alcohol?
I took a look at the link you provided Sugar_and_Spice but unfortunately i couldn't find anything that seems to fix my issue.

A question... is it an eGo -T ( tank system )

are you using Cartridges?

Cartomizers?

because the answer might be different depending on what you are using.

If it is an eGo-T I would tell you to take the end of a paper clip and push down the wick inside the puncture device lightly ( very lightly ) like a 1/16th of an inch.

then re-insert the tank and give it a nice slow draw.. that usually fixed that issue in a eGo-T

However if you are using cartridges, hissing, even gurgling is very normal for me ( but I am using a mega cylinder LR atomizer and mega cartridge and getting a lot of juice on the bridge.. but I like that ) burnt taste basically means that either not enough juice is getting to the bridge ( top off the cartridge ), or that my filler has become burnt and is adding a burnt taste

if you are using a cartomizer I would not know what to tell you because I have not used that yet.

As far as atomizer life is concerned

I had so-so luck with the eGo T atomizers, lasted around 3 weeks and then started dying

I have had much better luck with the cylinder, on my first one for well over a month now and going strong.

however I am not as experienced as a lot of people here... I have only been vaping with the eGo for a couple of months.

A dry burnt taste says to me that you are vaping air... not juice... just a hot atomizer and no juice to turn into vapor.

Hence the advice on adjusting the wick on a eGo T or checking your cartridge on a standard unit.

@astronomer, if you're tired, then go to sleep :D
@stradivarius, when i had that issue on my 801, it usually meant i'd killed my atomizer. this would happen if i let it run too dry before refilling it or overfilling it would have the same effect. i learned not to drip with those atomizers because for some reason the liquid killed the atomizer and it would no longer function at all after that, even after i let it dry out. before you give up on it, try some boge cartomizers. they're cheap (when compared to reg attys + carts) so that if you mess it up, you're only out a couple bucks at most to replace it with a new one. i'm using them with my ego mega batt and they work very well.

Cleaning it with vinegar fixed most of the problem. Now my cartridges get dirty like crazy. After two refills i already feel the taste diminishing.
I am thinking of buying a new kit.
I am not a smoker, I just want something that I can put flavors in and vape away all day.
Basically all I want is a lot of vapor (as much as possible) and little to none throathit.
I really do not care if it looks like an alien device as long as I don't have to use both hands to hold it and it can fit in a jacket's pocket.

The same thing happened to me I finally found what worked for me. Buy new atty's blow thru them (threaded end into a napkin) thouroughly before you use them you can easily tell if its hard to blow theres a problem and return it. You mentioned you tried direct dripping its kind of a hassle but imo provides the best vaping. One of my buddies uses a carto he says 20 drips lasts him all day. Idk but I wouldnt necessarily but any new kits just be mindful of what your spending and keep trying!

I too believe dripping is a hassle and also kind of messy if you don't do it calmly at your desk. I wanted something more on-the-go.
I found with dripping that the first few puffs are alright (not awesome in any way) and the rest of the vapor was harsh/burnt. It was still the same amount but with a horrible taste.
The tank system seems ideal because it doesn't have the filler to get bad taste. Are the little caps at the end of the cartridge reusable? On a few of the websites I visited it was stated that they are one time use. That seems problematic.

1) What juice are you using, what's the VG/PG ratio?
2) What ohm atty is it?
3) For testing purposes... dripping is the way to test. Doesn't matter if you intend to drip long-term or not. It eliminates a lot of issues and gets to the root of the atty performance.

Clean the atty again. This time, try the alcohol. Blow it out. Do a "warm burn" (don't pop it - don't hold the button down) until the sizzle stops. put 4 drops of juce in and the fillerless cart on. Vape. Should be fine. 3 drops, then 10 puffs, 3 drops 10 puffs......

Next add a cart with filler. Burnt? Wicking issue.

I don't know if your dripping on your ego, but when I first got my ego I had problems with burnt taste too, and everytime I vape it would fell like my thoart was on fire! So I decided to dewick and debridge one of my 510 attys and after it got rid of Thr problem. The only time I notice I get alittle burnt taste now is when I vape the atty alittle dry. I've clean my attys with iso in the start and now I just use vodka and blow out the liquid. I do also unscrew my attys every night and wipe the threads down and notice build up on my paper towel
