I'm new, and I'd like to know more about e-cigs

There are a lot of reasons people smoke, and oral fixation is certainly one for some people.

For me, smoking was more about taking a break, getting away, being alone with my thoughts for 10 minutes as needed.

Easier said than done AB. Even when I got down to 2 or 3 a day when I got started vaping, I soooo looked forward to that one or two smokes in the evening. It's probably more of a ritual with this poster. We are creatures of habit.

Exactly. When I'm at work and it gets stressful, sometimes I'll just find myself thinking about finally getting home, cracking open the bottle of beer (even if it's only half the size of a normal beer), and sitting down on the balcony with my beer and cigarette. It's very, very relaxing. It's just me out there (no wife or daughter until I unwind for that ten minutes).

I would not recommend dripping for you. You can get a satisfying vaping experience and good flavor without dripping.
Personally, I would strongly recommend dripping for this person.
It is the easiest way to use an electronic cigarette, and eliminates almost all potential issues and problems.

The only complaint about dripping is that it is a hassle to do it all the time.
But if you're only having one cigarette each day, there is no hassle.

Good to know. Thanks Digs.

DC2, it sounds a bit of a hassle. I think I'll give it a try without and then see how it tastes. If the taste is medicore, I'd probably consider dripping. But then, I won't be able to use that e-cig which Digs recommended (and I was considering it).

I recommend the standard manual battery KR808D-1 (see LiteCigUSA or Vapor4Life's model is the same). The shorty version would work, but I would be concerned about the shorty battery holding power well enough over 8 hours to give you a good vape after that. Any opinions?
As long as the battery is not in use, it will hold the charge for a very long time.
He should be able to go for a few days on just one battery.

When you are having one cigarette and wanting to relax and unwind, I can assure you that you won't want to have to worry about whether or not your cartridge is full, whether or not it will wick properly, whether or not the juice has dried up a little and is no longer flowing well, nor any other of the myriad of hassles that come with cartridges and even cartomizers.

Do yourself a favor and make sure to buy a drip tip with your first order, they aren't expensive.
When you get tired of hoping your cartridge or cartomizer is going to work right, you'll be very glad you have it.

And it is no more of a hassle than taking out a lighter and lighting a cigarette.
In fact, it actually works well to add an element of ritual to the process.

I disagree. I don't think it can get much easier than using pre-filled cartos. You just slap it on and vape until it needs to be replaced.

I would try the 0mg first though like you recommended. I've vaped 0mg before and it didn't do anything for me but it may be enough for you. When I drink alcohol is when I really crave a cigarette the most and when I hit that cigarette I really want to feel it. The amount of nicotine will have a large affect on throat-hit so if you like that part of smoking you'll probably want some nicotine.

I can't help but think that vaping may actually lead you to intake more nicotine a day than you do already which is not a good thing. You'll probably like it more than smoking because it tastes so much better and its just so much "cleaner". If you could just quit that would probably be the best thing to do.
