Another question:
I've decided to get the Joye eGo-C twist 1000mah battery.
Exactly what other components do I need to be ready to go?
I know i need e-liquids, a charger, and atomizer, is that it?
For the charger, be certain you're getting one for the eGo. Like at the LiteCig site:
Joye ego USB Charger. Joye's regular chargers and their eGo chargers aren't interchangeable at all. I'd definitely add an
AC adapter. The chargers can run off powered USB ports but they pull a fair amount of juice and you may not have a port to spare anyway.
My Twist lasts me about 6 to 7 hours on a charge depending on the voltage I'm running at. Since I tend to use the upper end (rarely less than 4 volts, usually around 4.5), I get less than the possible 10 hours (the "rule of thumb" is 100 mAh is one hour of ordinary use of batteries but, of course, that all depends). So you'll want two. One charging, one in use.
A "pass through" is optional but nice. I see LiteCig has the one I bought:
Variable Voltage EgO/510 USB Passthrough. No battery, they just run off the USB power. Handy to leave at your desk. Since I'm short powered USB ports, I grabbed an inexpensive 2 amp USB wall adapter to use with it and plug into my power strip (which is at the edge of the desk here).
Now, you don't necessarily need an atomizer per se. All the widgets you attach to the batteries have one somewhere but buying a separate atomizer depends on which way you're going. Like I use cartomizers. Such as here:
510 Black BOGE Blank Cartomizers. In fact, exactly those. Boge 510. Even black.
Cartomizers got their name by being a cartridge with an atomizer (cart + mizer more or less) together in one unit. Filling them is pretty simple, there are videos out there on the YouTube to show you how. They have a polyfill kind of cotton looking stuff inside that holds the juice. You can also buy them prefilled if you want though it's cheaper to fill them yourself (and gives you more control over various and sundry).
So this means I can't buy the eGo-C Twist battery, and Kanger pro tank and use them together without some kind of adapter?
Actually, you can use it. EGO style batteries (and it's a style, not a brand) have two threadings. An inner 510 thread and an outer eGo thread. Here, I nabbed a pic from a more experienced ECF member:
So you can use 510 threaded widgets
and eGo threaded widgets. I'm using 510 threaded Boge cartos even as I type this on my Twist.
But, now, one thing to understand is when it comes to what you put
on you batteries, there's more than one way to go. Tank systems like the Kranger above are very popular with a lot of folks (and I have one on order to try it out) but you don't have to go that way. If you do, understand that the atomizer is part of the tank and you don't buy one separately.
Cartomizers, same thing, the atomizer is built in. Separate atomizers are for going in
other directions (such as you may see somebody talk about "dripping", something you may want to try later but, for now, why get yourself confused with too much too soon?

).
I think you mentioned you've used cartomizers before? I've lost my place here. Lemme look... yeah, there it is.
So I'd say the easiest thing is to start with cartos. You've used them before. Buy "blanks" and learn to fill them yourself (not hard) or prefilled if you want,
then try other things once you get going.
By the way, in a pinch? I've nabbed a little box of Blu cartomizers at the Walgreens and used them on my Twist. They're 510 threaded. Not the best out there but Blu's sticking them everywhere these days and that can be awful handy if you're stuck.
So I'd suggest get two Twist batteries, the "rapid" eGo USB charger, the wall adapter for the charger, and some Boge 510 blank cartos. Case if you want one.
Find some liquids to try out and off you go. Maybe toss in some prefilled cartos so you'll have something to use while figuring out filling your own.
One place to check for reputable, known vendors, by the way is in the
Forum Supplier section. I've found the further you go with this vaping thing, the more you want to try different liquids and all. I doubt anybody ends up buying from only one place. Heh, I have about three vendors I'm using for liquids and looking at two more...
