I am pretty new at vaping. I first tried the standard 510, then went to the LEO (way too big) and now I am using the eGo Mach 1 that I purchaced from ecigg.org (eGo Kit | Ego starter kit by e-cigg | ecig ego edition kit) I then ordered the CE4 carto (CE4 Atomizer| eGo, 510 Atomizer/Clearomizer| This CE4 Atomizer/Clearomizer is great for your ego or riva) My questions are:

1. How do you know when the carto is starting to fail?
2. Why does the ejuice end up getting darker?
3. Is it possible to clean the carto? If so, how? I have seen many methods but not for the CE4.

Thank you all in adavance for any type of insight you may be able to provide.

Hi and Welcome to the ECF!!

You will know when a carto is starting to go bad because the flavor of the juice will start to be off and not taste like it should. Once that happens you can try and clean, most people are successful at bringing them back to life, much easier to do with CE2-CE4's from my understanding then with regular cartos.

As far as the juice getting darker, I saw something about that somewhere but cant find it at the moment. If I find it I will come back and post it here. I want to say it has something to do with flavorings from the juice settling at the bottom.

Here is a link to a cleaning video, he refers to it as a Stardust but its the same CE4. Gotvapes Stardust: Advanced Cleaning - YouTube

Hope this helps some :)

26 almost 27 days is awesome!!! Seeing the money you have saved and how many cigs you have avoided is a great motivator for sure.

I am a firefighter, been a volunteer for 16 years. My fiance's brother was in Charlotte NC FD and is now in Jersey City FD as well as her father who is also an instructor at Morris Academy and trains all the guys from Newark FD. Oh and my 2 younger brothers, cant forget about them. I absolutely love it, actually pretty busy for a volunteer department.

Are you looking to volunteer are go career?

Hi los8383, Welcome to ECF. You know when your carto is starting to fail when, as stated above, your juice starts tasting "off" or you get a hard draw. Oxidation, as Hoosier stated, causes ejuice to darken. Some juices do, some don't. Store your juice in a cool dark place. You can clean cartos. I personally never have. They are not too expensive and once you get the hang of them should last a reasonable amount of time. To clean them is quite time consuming. Your better off just using a new carto and enjoy your vape.

Well when I joined the AF I said I would join unless they promised me the ff job and they did. I intended on staying in my 20 as a ff. I just recently got out due to my divorce and my son being in the states and me being stationed in Japan. Now that I am our I still want to make it my career for a city dept or going into the GS system here at Goodfellow AFB. This is the ff training academy for all ff's for all branches here in San Angelo. I thought about becoming an instructor there too, so I have many options just dont know what is right for me yet

A little bit darker or golden over time is the nicotine oxidizing. But heat is a big reason it gets darker like from a hot mail box or sitting above an atomizer in a tank. It loses its flavor and probably nic content as well.

See this thread, are you talking this dark?
