Propylene glycol and glycerol (vegetable glycerin) are both sugar alcohols, as is ethanol. You're not vaping alcohol, though. You're not vaping alcohol, silly, you're vaping the steam/vapor/whatever that is created when the alcohol ignites. I can't think of any alcohol that wouldn't burn at these temperatures. What makes glycerol and propylene glycol so good for vaping is their viscosity and low volatility.

Okay, don't make everyone give the definition of ignite. I wouldn't vape it if it was ignited, for sure.

But hey, in college we used to have fun drinking "flaming arrows." We'd light a shot of Crown or Turkey on fire, and drink it. Me & my buddies got good at it, and made it look easy (it's easy if you calmly tilt your head back a little, pour it in, and close your mouth so the flame goes out). Then we'd challenge some poor saps to do it with us. They'd get nervous, and hurriedly pour flaming alcohol around their chins, necks, etc.

Good times.

Problem is it's not steam.
Steam is the gaseous form of water. What comes out of your mouth hole when you vape is an aerosol of tiny e-liquid droplets.
This isn't technically correct. Steam is liquid water droplets condensed on dust particles in the air and is visible. Water vapor is the gaseous form of water, and it is as invisible as oxygen or nitrogen gas.

But, you're right about the visible product of vaping. It's not steam.

Just the opposite.

I was a cocktail barman for 5 years. The technique I would advise to customers drinking flaming shots was to blow out the flames first befire imbibing. Where people usually screw up is leaving it too long, the hot glass burns their lips, they flinch and a flaming face ensues.
One time a customer ordered a flaming Sambuca, a particularly high octane and very sticky anaseed beverage. When I recommended a technique he rudely dismissed it, then proceeded to ignite his entire face and sizable beard with alcoholic napalm.
Im not normally a callous ......., but I laughed long and hard and offered him no assistance.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I like your well defined analysis. It is a little bit hard for me to understand why you talk about Cleverland and Stanley. What is the corelation between these two words and steam? I am really curious about that.

A bigger question is, why is your sig banner so friggin big?

You might've heard of Stanley Steemer- the carpet cleaning company. But I'm not gonna explain- just use your google skills and check out Cleveland Steamer (not Cleverland, but I'm guessing google will fix that for you). I'd suggest turning images off.
