I am looking at purchasing the Riva 510-t starter kit off of liberty flights and I don't have a lot of cash to throw around. The price is very good for the starter kit here. Now I know I don't want to use the atomizer+cartridge it comes with and here is where are start getting really confused.

I don't want to have to refill or be messing around with it all the time, want good vapor production and TH that I can use all day. Going off the Liberty Flights site because I would like to order all this from the same place initially ... what else do I need? I start getting confused between what tanks and cartomizers or combinations I can use ... I have been looking at the higher capacity items that hold like 3ml for instance.

So far I found in the Cartomizer sections ... the Boge cartomizer 2.0 and there is an XXL which I am not sure what that means. Moving down from there I see the DCT carto tanks with 3ml and 6ml capacity complete with dual coil catomizer and drip tip. Then I see the SmokTech 510 cartomizers for sale and thoey have those in XL, XXL, and XXXL capacity ... and then there are clearomizers below that listed A and B.

I get to point I don't know what I need and what will go with what or work with my Riva 510-t.

I also wanted to know where you currently get your e-liquid from that you would suggest? i am looking to try clove, tobacco, and then some assorted flavors to start.

Thanks

Hey Tex,

Welcome to the forum and good luck with the switch to vaping! I found it was best to watch a bunch of youtube videos and browse threads here for reviews and the like. Check out igetcha69 and pbusardo reviews on youtube. You can also email your prospective vendor and they should walk you through a started kit and answer your questions. The problem with all the gear and juice and asking for recommendations (IMHO) is that, just like physical taste, preferences are subjective. Some like dripping, some like RBA's some are still vaping the same carto / ego setup they started with 2 years ago. You really need to think about your lifestyle to determine what the best solution is for you. Have fun and good luck!

Those are good questions. Don't get frustrated. There are lots of smart people on this forum to help you.

I see that you want your juice to be in the 3ml range when you fill it. That is a lot of juice but I do know the DCT tank with the XL carto holds at least a fair amount of juice. Does the product description tell you how much juice the DCT tank will hold?

The tank with a carto in it sounds complicated but now that I have one it isn't too bad to use.

I I get juices from Mt. Baker....really cheap and good....you may want to look them over.

I also like the juice from Mt Vapor Baker. I've tried quite a few flavors from his stock, some of my favorites include: Pink Lemonade, Menthol (really strong true menthol), Banana, Juicy Fruit, Vanilla Custard, Candy Cane, and Marshmallow. Plus the shipping is really fast, even with the cheapest option. There are some of the flavors I didn't like from them though, but taste is subjective.

starstx, welcome, and congrats on your upcoming switch!

I ordered the EXACT same kit from the EXACT same supplier. And yes, the price is good... The batteries are fine enough (though the buttons are prone to popping off) but the atomizers and tank system is horrid. I can't recommend it; you'll wind up buying a couple of clearos and blow all the "savings" of the kit.

I would do this instead:
Buy two Joyetech eGo/eGo-T 650mah Battery - MyFreedomSmokes.com
Buy one eGo/eGo-T USB Wire Charger - My Freedom Smokes
Buy two Vision eGo Clearomizer - V3 (Long Wicks, aka CE4 or Stardust) - MyFreedomSmokes.com in clear (others are out of stock right now)

Total will be $42.25 before shipping and you get Joye brand batteries rather than Rivas and 2 decent enough clearos. The clearos alone are $3.95 each before shipping, so if you order the Liberty Flights kit and THEN the clearos, you wind up spending the same amount of money in the end if not more...

You'd do well with these Electronic Cigarette - Cartomizers - DCT - Carto Tank ..at LF. See the "DCT V2 Carto Tank" listing on the page. It comes with a "dual coil" cartomizer, which you very well might like. They'll be 45mm...and you can replace that with Boge XXL (45mm) at the same site if the dualies are too much for you. Just because the tank is called "DCT" or dual coil tank doesn't mean you HAVE to use dual coils.

I think you'll like those. Just the right size for your Riva. Be sure to get a little collar for the threads on the battery (so it'll look good and protect your connection point) Electronic Cigarette - Atomizers & Cones - SMOK TECH CONES See the "shorty cones"

If you don't want to fiddle with stuff, I would stay away from carto tanks. Get your self a mini vivi nova , or a vivi nova tank, easy to fill, and low maintenance. Not really sure about the rivi 510. Some people have trouble with this battery. But as far as batteries get your self at least 2 that way one is on charge, and one is in your hand. Look into ego kits. They usually come with everything you need to get started. As far as juice there are many sites just on this forum that sell juice. Just pic your flavor . Hope this helps you out.

Hi Star! Welcome to ECF. This is a great forum with very knowledgeable members so any and all questions will be answered. As far as hardware I believe you should keep it pretty simple in the beginning. Maybe try some Vivi Novas ( just fill your juice and vape!) xl xxl cartos are just sizes of cartos for longer and bigger capacity tanks or to use on their own. As far as juices go I love Heathers Heavenly Vapes right now. They have a great variety of juices that you can customize pg/vg ratio and nic levels. They offer 4 pack 3ml samples ( good way to start) get 2 4 pack samples 10 dollars each all come pre steeped 70/30 pg/vg and 12 mg nic level. Try those and you can adjust from there. Higher pg is going to give you more flavor and stronger throat hit. Higher vg is going to give you more vapor production. But remember taste is very subjective. I've tried some juices that people raved about and hated it. For me that's part of the fun! Finding my perfect setup and that elusive juice that's going to give me my perfect vape . Also it's important to have a rotation of several juices. Try not to vape one flavor from one company all the time. Especially if you do menthol. I vaped a menthol tobacco flavor exclusively for almost two months.. And I got vapor tongue ( suddenly everything tastes bad or can't taste anything. Lasted 10 days) and also drink lots and lots of water when you vape. Well gl and keep vaping .. Remember whatever works for you to stay off the analogs is the right thing. :)

Thank you everyone for your input and fast response! I looked at what you posted and I am strongly considering this ... Thanks for the links and making it easy ... I was going to get the Riva because it was cheaper but want you sent is just as inexpensive and I have no plans to use the atomizer and cart that comes with it. Actually, I might get the 1000mah eGo-C batteries instead. Its only 4 bucks more for each and I would like to know when the battery is getting low ... that seems to be the only difference on eGo-C that I can see. I am still confused on the clearomizer and the setup.

Is this a Tank and a cartomizer inside the tank and a mouthpiece all in one? Or do I need to purchase seperate cartomizers that go inside the tank? I am confused on how all of these work from tank to cartomizer to mouthpiece to my batt and what needs to be replaced etc. How long should these last before I need to replace? 1.8ml capacity looks to be good for my vaping habits which will be moderate at most in a day.

Just so you all have a better idea of my habits ... I will most likely be a moderate, not heavy vaper and going with a 12mg 80/20 e liquid. I do not want to have to drip or top off at all for the day. I work in an office but I can't exactly be messing with this thing hourly. I need to able to have mine completely set up to vape moderately all day in the office.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for everyone who responded and for all of your support. I am going to wait to get some more feedback and get something either tonight or tomorrow. I'll start looking at some of the e-liquid sites mentioned and see what I can find.

I also have a 1000 mAh battery and love the long battery life, but it's.... Long. And very slender.

It doesn't stay in one place well. I have to prop it up on something, or keep it in a cup, etc. I would keep it on its side but that doesn't always work too well if there is a clearomizer with juice attached (makes it more likely to leak). If you're open to getting the bigger battery, then consider getting one of each: a 650 mAh and a 1000mAh. Then you'll have a full size for work or home and a smaller size you can take with you.

Clearomizers are all in one units: just add a battery, some juice, and you're good to go. The I linked is not the best in the world by any stretch but it is dead simple to use: unscrew the mouthpiece on top, squeeze in some juice, put it back together, put on your battery, and vape. This particular unit is disposable; I have one and have been using it 2 weeks and have cleaned it in hot water once. I will almost certainly get another week or two out of it. Other clearomizers come with some replaceable parts which will extend their lifespan, but all the hardware in vaping is essentially disposable (batteries included). Some things have a lifespan measured in days, others weeks, months or even years (as is the case with batteries).

Your vape habits are similar to mine. I'm using 2mL (3 if I'm bored) of 12mg liquid. The little clearo I linked to you gets me through my entire work day and then some.

Just read carefully before you put it in your cart. The Liberty Flights DCT carto/tank comes with a dual coil carto and drip tip according to the link that ForthRock put up but double check that you are getting the item you want.

You can vape moderately at the office by simply using cartos and having a couple of spares in your pocket. A moderate vaper might be 3 ml for the entire day as 3 ml is fairly average for a lot of vapers. Just plain cartos would need to be refilled in the evening so that you could take full ones to work with you in the morning. Just a thought. Cartos are basically very tough little units.

People here are going to tell you what worked for them- that's fine.

But you may need to come here for awhile in the evening and read. That and buying a Selection of different cartos/clearos is what may work best for you.

There is an INFOZONE here to teach you about different things, and there is Live Chat for realtime questions.

    Happy Vaping.

I just ordered Candy Cane and it shipped yesterday. I have a serious peppermint addiction, so I am hoping it's good.

Alright ... I went with the Joy eGo-C 650mah Battery. From what I can tell ... the only difference is an indicator when your battery is down to 25% or below and it something about not overcharging. It was only a couple of bucks more. I went with the usb charger and added a little wall unit too. I ordered 2 of the clearomizer's ... like you said ... It is very simple and easy which is what I wanted for now. I also added a SmokTech eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer to try. They didn't have any low resistance in stock so i will try that next time. At least the EMDCC gives me another setup to try. I also went with Mt. Vapor to try their Clove, Brown Sugar, and Passion Fruit to start off ... I didn't add any extra shots of flavor.

I think this was a good start and wasn't too hard on the pocketbook. I was looking for advice for other people's setup that they really like because I think it is a good place to start and then you can branch out from there. Thanks for the help and I can't wait to try it out and now I have a place to start and a couple of reputable sites to look through in the meantime.
