It's hard to say if it was a kidney stone or not. I've never had one as far as I know, but every once in a while I have "problems" (without going into gruesome details) and after a few days of apple cider vinegar it's gone.

I never ever get sick, so to have it pile up on me like that was just a beating. I only missed half a day of work. i thought I was going to bruise a rib from coughing so hard.

I also got very sick last week (stopped smoking in mid-January) -- was comatose for a couple of days and still, a week later, am sleeping upright on the couch because of the dry, hacking cough that ends up, after much pain, producing phlegm several hours later. But my husband also had this sickness and he still smokes .... so I think it's just a particularly nasty cold that's going around.

Glad to hear you are better!

FWIW, there is a terrible bug going around. I was out of commission for a while and know of 7 people that had to go to the emergency room. I experienced the same coughing as you described above.

I really will never understand why people don't keep their distance when they are sick. I had a friend come from overseas and she was too busy hugging and kissing me as opposed to telling me she was sick. I bet the cold/flu suffering can be cut in half if people stop to think for a second.

The influenza season hit late this year - just in the past few weeks. My allergist mentioned this and I also heard it on the news. Sounds like at least some of the people posting here might be experiencing that........
