I'm mostly a lurker on forums, but it looks like I'm gonna have to come out of isolation if I want to get anywhere on this forum :)

So, here is how I came to be here. Back in 2009 I joined ECF, researched like a lunatic (I'm a little OCD). I got information overload and ordered a Red Dragon. It was just the easy thing to do. I got it, tried it a little, but just didn't get into it.

Fast forward to now...I've had pneumonia twice in the last year and still am short of breath. I no longer live in tobacco country (Virginia), analogs are expensive and I live in a world of people who don't understand smoking. I'm old enough to have smoked in malls and grocery stores. Here, you can't smoke in your car if you have children with you. WTH I can't smoke in my house because that's what it says in my lease....can they do that?? apparently The mentality here is way different than back home. Here it's legal for some folks to smoke weed, but almost not legal to smoke cigs.

So, I've pulled out that old Red Dragon. I ordered some cartridges...price wasn't bad, but the shipping was as much as the cartridges and it took a week to get here. Next time I'll order them from Vapor Kings (now that I've shopped around). I saw an adapter somewhere, if I find it again, I might get it. It was only 2 bucks. I've ordered some really cool sounding liquids from Deej. He really helped me with some questions I've had. I hope to get something better than my RD soon, but for now it will have to do. Funds are really tight. I only smoked about 6-10 cigs a day (0-2 in the winter) damn lease. Plus, I'm doing that information overload ocd thing again. I've been reading in this forum non-stop for a week. lol

Sorry so long....thanks for listening. I suck at this posting thing

Welcome !! posting is simple, just type in whatever pops into your head...:)

The changes over the years have been HUGE, you can buy an e-cig that
delivers vapor consistently without leaking and doesn't taste burnt!!!

If you're only smoking about 6-10 cigs a day, check out Smokless Image
and their Volt, it's a highly regarded 808 type, and they have a 30% off
everything sale this weekend. today!!

Stosh, do you think that the usb and wall adapter chargers I have for the RD will work with the Volt (or another e-cig). I'm just thinking that if I only need to buy the batteries and the carts it would be less expensive. I paid $80 for the RD set-up, it'd be nice to reuse some of it.

thanks for your input,
margaret

When your post count enough to PM then send me a message. I think I can help you as I have others in your situation that I feel trustworthy.

Welcome back!

Even if the chargers will work with your old system, it's best to have backups because stuff does fail.
Yes, the Smokeless Image site is slick, but I'm sure after browising around here you'll come to the same conclusion that I did. It is the best cig form factor device out there and their customer service is fantastic.

I had the Blu Premuims, and another "808" and can attest that the Volt is indeed better. Aside from customer service their batteries are sealed and the voltage is regulated. Their cartomizers are also of high quality. With the cost of analogs these days the return on investment comes quickly.

The Red Dragon from what I can find is a KR-808-D2, the Volt, Bloog, and most other
are KR808-D1. The vendors like Red Dragon use a threading that is incomparable with
other vendor's ware to force you to come back to them for overpriced supplies.

You can get an adapter that would allow you to use up the cartomizers you may have on hand.

you're right...i didn't think about the threads being different. I knew I saw that adapter somewhere, just couldn't remember. Thanks, Lecig is exactly where I saw it.

Do you think that the volt gives a better vape than the RD. If not, I could just get the adapter and keep using the RD until I know more about what I like and can get a really nice vape.

thanks for all of the info and the warm welcome, you guys are the best!

Tough to say what the RD is capable of doing, it's one of the very few threading / type
I've never tried. I know there are excellent cartos and clearos that will fit the 808-D1,
it's a very common size.

For one thing the Volt uses a Kanger bottom coil cartomizer, less likely to burn the filling,
lasts longer. It's a bit cooler vapor, but better flavor than any vertical coil type I've tried.
