Let’s pretend that there are 1 million e-cigarette users in the developed world.
Let’s assume that half of these e-cigarette users have entirely given up smoking tobacco cigarettes and that prior to doing so they were pack a day smokers.
Lets assume that the governments from developed countries receive $4.00 a day in taxes from each pack of cigarettes sold.

What would the above mean?

500,000 * 4.00 = $2,000,000.00

(2 million dollars a day in lost tax revenue to the government of developed countries)

Now how much is 2million a day over a year?

2000000 * 365days a year = 730,000,000.00 (730 million dollars a year in lost revenue from former tobacco smokers who are now vapers)

Still feel the government wants you to quit smoking tobacco?

Here’s a link to the estimated number of smokers in the world. Run your own projections on lost tax dollars.

FAO : Higher world tobacco use expected by 2010 - growth rate slowing down

Put it this way too - I used to work for a government dept in the UK - the amount of money UNCLAIMED by people who were entitled to claim (in the UK) outstripped the budget for that department every year.
Another department (I can't name names lol) billed for things way WAY over anything you would find in the public sector, and don't even get me started on expense accounts of publicly emplyed officials (inc bills for office redecorations and trips)
I see no reason to imagine the US govt departments are any different - money is not managed properly - if it was smokers taxes would be way less.

Edit: I should add YOUR money that YOU pay isn't managed properly, because we are seen as a bottomless pit by many. The well that never runs dry - yes I'm talking to YOU Mr and MRs Voter.
