Important question about refilling cartomizers!!!

Hi, I'm pretty new to vaping. I have the Smoke 51 Duo and recently found out that I could refill the cartomizers instead of spending the $16 every time I wanted 5 new ones that didn't even last very long. I bought some Dekang Desert Ship liquid and followed the exact instructions from a Youtube video...I've researched and realized that the model 808D-2 battery is the one I have and I can buy empty carts from Lecig but I figured I'd try my Smoke 51 carts first. To clean, I took the white cap off the end of the cart, I ran water into it and allowed it to drip through a few times, then I ran water into it and I took a napkin and blew the water out and repeated this until the water was nice and clear instead of brown from the previous juice. Then, I held the cart at an angle and turned it slowly as I dropped 12 drops into the wick (Someone said to do 18-20, but this caused mine to be overly full and the wick was completely saturated). Then, I rolled the cart between my hands because they said it would help evenly spread the liquid. I allowed all the carts I refilled to sit overnight because one guy said you couldn't vape instantly and it was better to let them sit as long as possible. Next day, I try to vape...nothing happens. I hear the slight popping and crackling sound it normally makes when I vape but I get little to no vapor at all on some carts, then on other carts I get absolutely nothing and it feels like its clogged, even though I never dropped any liquid into the actual CENTER of the cart, only on the cotton on the sides, and then I puff harder and I just get a huge mouth full of liquid. I have ONE cart that I refilled that actually produces a little bit of vapor but not NEARLY what they produced as new, pre-filled carts. Am I doing something wrong? When I did 18-20 drops, it was too much, 10 wasn't enough, so I finally did 12 and one cart works decently but the rest don't work at all?? This makes no sense to me. So again, I have the 808D-2 battery from Smoke 51, using the Smoke 51 carts that came with it and refilling them and they don't work at all or produce little to no vapor at all. Any help would be appreciated...thanks!!!

Also, I forgot to mention, if there's anyone who doesn't know, the 808D-2 battery is the same exact battery as the 808D-1 according to Lecig.com, they just have different threads for the cart attachment, so anyone who owns an 808D-1 might know something?

Did you allow the cartos to dry for awhile before filling them??

No, I didn't let them dry before refilling. Maybe I misunderstood the video 'cause I thought I was supposed to wash them, blow the water out, fill them, and THEN let them dry overnight, was I supposed to let the actual empty cart dry and then fill later? Thanks for replying!

I let them dry for a couple of days or you could put a hair dryer to them ,that will speed things up . You don't clean them between each refill do you ? Cause that's not necessary.

Yours are probably clogged up with water, hence no vapor. Before refilling they need to be completely dry--I found that takes blowing out, then sitting on the window sill in the sun for a few days (and even then, baking in the oven at low temp, like 250 degrees for an hour) to get them really dry. THEN you can re-fill them with juice.

Another way to empty them of water is to do the reverse Taryn spin (there's a video, but it's just using centrifugal force to empty the water out). Good luck!

I will definitely try this,thanks so much for the advice! I almost quit vaping at first cause I got frustrated, I got the Duo and quit smoking for 4 days until my Duo caught on fire! I had it replaced and then had the refilling problems, so I was about to say screw this until I found this forum. Thanks so much for the help!!!!!

Yeah, they have to be completely dry or they just don't work right. You can throw them in a bag of dry white rice for 24 hours too, that's been the quickest and easiest way to dry them that I've found.

You can vape them right after filling, no need to wait overnight.

I stopped "cleaning" mine. I found that rinsing, boiling, whatever, just shrinks the material in the inside and they become like a milkshake tough to vape. What i do now is just top off refill that same exact flavor you started with till the cartomizer is dead. Toss it and get a new one. I find mine last much longer now and dont ever get that tough milkshake draw.
