I am a zymurgist, for those that are not familiar with that term, you can use the term "home-brewer". I brew beer and wine in my home.
The trick to zymurgy and to perfecting any beer is to limit your variables and get consistency in your ingredients. If you use the same equipment, with the same ingredients and follow the same process, you should be able to replicate any beer recipe within an negligible difference. However, if you use a different pot to boil in, add hops at the wrong time, or a different time, or ferment for different periods of time, or use a different or dated ingredient, the beer is going to taste different.
I know, why am I writing this in a E-Cig flavor thread... I'll tell you why..
Every person out there is going to need to do some form of experimentation. That is a hard fact. Even if I were just like you, and I had the same tastes, it wouldn't matter. I could not recommend a juice for you. This is based on the fact that there are still way too many varibles to consider! Let's say we could both decide on a vendor, then we could both decide on a flavor. However, you wanted the 16mg nicotine where as I wanted the 24.... or you wanted the PG, and I wanted the VG.. right there, all bets are off, and that is long before we ever get to the equipment we are using to vape the juice. What if you are a dripper and I perfer carts? What if I have a 510 with a mega atty and you have a 910 with a low res atty? or a cartomizer? There is no chance that we are going to have the same experience. There are simply way too many variables. You could love your juice on your equipment, but if you put it in mine, perhaps you wouldn't care for it at all.
First, you must have the equipment you like. For me, right now that is an EGO 510 with a mega atomizer and mega carts (from Awesome Vapor). It is pretty good with the vapor, and is easy to maintain. However, I am still hunting for that great juice. I am a former cigar smoker, so I am not looking for the fruity stuff or the Marlboro light taste. I want something that is going to pack a punch! To date, I've tried the Cuban Supreme from Vaperite and had a good experience, I also tried the rum flavor from Awesome Vapor and had a good experience with that as well.
The easiest suggestion is to make sure you have the proper equipment first. Then, load up on samplers.. that is the only way to go. The problem is you will find the one you want but only have a small quantity of it and have to order more which takes a while and waiting is the really hard part. Once you've settled on equipment, then you can start to try out the juices to give them all their fair shake. My problem was changing equipment while changing juices. Experimentation doesn't work that way, you must change only one thing, try it, and then you can make another change. You may find a juice you like in 24mg strength, but when you try to drop down to 16mg, it just doesn't taste the same.
Experiment with different juices from different vendors, try different strengths, and don't be afraid to go back to a vendor that you got a bad juice from, just because you didn't like that flavor, doesn't mean you might not like something different from the same vendor. And let's be honest, may vendors are doing this in their garage, so if you have feedback for them, go back to their site and let them know your experience, good or bad... it's the only way they can make small changes to improve their juice. And who knows, maybe they will even send you a free sample of one of their juices to see if it was better than perhaps a bad juice you had!
It is a playground of flavor out there. Hop on and enjoy the ride.
