Well I'm going to assume that the price of analogs will keep skyrocketing. So the design of the ecig could handle quite of bit of regulation and increased manufacturing costs to improve safety, and still compete cost-wise with analogs. My suggestions include:
1) Strict regulation of juice formulas, of course.
2) All ecigs designed so atty and cartridge are a single sealed unit. juice always preloaded. Illegal to sell juice separately. Experienced uses would bypass the restrictions. But these folks would have enough experience to know what they are doing.
3) Reduce leakage out of the battery end of the atty.
4) Provide a much better way of keeping juice from leaking into the mouth.
5) Provide some sort of calculation of recommended starting nicotine concentration based on a person's weight, history of smoking, etc.
6) More comprehensive instructions included with every ecig. Including guidelines for ramping up to regular use.
