Those are not the same LiMn high drain batteries that DaMulta has been praising and that I believe the OP was referring to. Same cream-of-the crop manufacturer (AW), but Li-Ion (Lithium Ion) rather than LiMn (Lithium Magnesium), e.g., as in this 18650:

Got High Drains from Drew @ NHaler and it really does spoil you for anything else - over 22 hours on my GGTS! Could probably keep going but I just switch it out at that point.
Unfortunately some intensive tests at the CPForums say different. The AW IMR 18650 didn't even make it to 1500mAh when tested with a 3A draw (more than even a LR atty pulls). While the Trustfire TF2400 (Black/Red) actually made it to about 2350mAh. The AW IMR only made it to about 1300mAh before falling to 3.2V, while the TF lasted till almost 2000mAh before falling to 3.2V. That's a significant difference. Seems they should be called High & Fast Drains. Doesn't make sense to me to be lugging an expensive, heavy 18650 around and only getting 1300mAh out of it.

There also doesn't seem to be any deals out there for the AW, while the TF's can be had dirt cheap. I think I'll go with 2 of these for less money than one AW IMR.

If someone wants to purchase a mod that uses the best/longest lasting best performing battery (non HV) what battery whould it use? Please exclude the 18650 that I use with my SB, I am looking fro a smaller PV. Thanks
The standard AW Li-ions are fine batteries. In a smaller size we have this one.

AW 14500 Protected Rechargeable Lithium Battery

But I'd rather have 3 (or 4) of the TrustFire 14500's for the price of one AW.

Im not even sure those work due to the protection circuit? I have a cheap Trustfire working fine but I ordered 4 of those more expensive ones and it doesnt work.

From what I've seen on other forums, the general consensus is that the LiMn formulation of these batteries loses a lot of efficiency in thinner packages like the 14500. That's why nobody makes them, and why it isn't too likely that anybody will.
Actually rumor down the pipe is that Aw has a 14500 IMR in the works...

what I love about that CPF link is that it's really how it's how you're choosing to read it....
The way I read it is that on that IMR with a 1A draw on it it's lasting aboit exactly as long as its rated 1.6 Amphours...
and with the 3A draw on it actually better than should be expected
should be lasting 30 min (.5 Amphours) at a 3.2A draw...and it's actually lasting almost 1.5 Amphours....

Now lets take the ultrafires that so many people use...charts show that they aren't performing up to their ratings at all

actually depending on what atty configuration you're using..none of the 14500 batteries are the best... Aw is at least consistant..Trustfire depends on which ones you're talking about grey labels are crap compared to the holographic "flame" labels (and if you're going to quote CPF...do I really need to post the multiple links where the general consensus is that *fire batteries as a whole are just crap?).. but both are going to be more overstressed than the AW..
