I quit smoking a month ago and have dove heads in to DIY. Coil building, wicks, and now making my own juices.
I picked up some 40 flavors - mostly tobacco from RTS recently and been experimenting over the past few weeks.

So far, I like what I have made and taste test daily. Gets better with age. Sonic cleaner helps too.

All of my mixes are at 70P/30V 18mg and I make up 8ml test batches with 7% flavor.

HS Smooth - My favorite so far. Very nice tobacco flavor

HS Turkish Blend - I think it needs more time but tasty

HS US tobacco and Red Flavor: Not quite sure what to think about this. 7% might be too much. It may need more time as well. Has a taste that is not like any cig I've had before (ex marl smoker).

TFA RY4 Double with 2% AP. I love this. Reminds me of Tribeca. Can vape immediately and gets better with aging. 2 drops of AP for 5ML may have been a bit much as I get a lot of nutty flavor from it. Backing down some on the AP. Still love it. Went back and made 30ml.

HS Cuba Flavor: Another favorite. Harsh on day one but started smoothing out.
HS Elder Capt: I keep saying this, yes, another nice vape. I keep this one with me all day
HS Cigar: Good but I think it needs more time.

Yeah, I know. Time will make all things better (except my memory). Just impatient

All flavors are at about 1.5 weeks and have had some ultrasonic time and warm baths. Also noticed that setting the bottles on my computer exhaust fan seems to have an effect from the heat and vibration. Definitely notice a color change in a few days.

I have made bad juices. Screwed up and added 14% flavor thinking I only put 7% in. Ouch. Diluted and it is sitting.

I do have a question I'm hoping someone can answer. I purchased Azures Tobacco Absolute in vials that are 50% alcohol and 50% TA. I mixed 2 drops to 5ml of PG. Is this an appropriate dilution? I'm struggling to taste any difference when I add 2 drops to my 8ml tobaccos.

Thanks!
Avi

That 7% seems a bit high for a flavor profile. They don't work for you at a lower percentage? I'm not sure about Azures TA but the little 3 ml bottle of Balkan TA I buy, has to be diluted first and only then do I use 1 drp. per 5 mls. My drops are 36 for 1 ml. Other droppers get different counts.

You've come a long way my friend nice job. I myself love the hangsen tobaccos at 7% which is a bit on the strong side for most but perfect for us ex-smokers. I've been adding TA to mine as well. I started like you at 2 drops per 10ml but found it did not do anything for me and I was using the TFA pure TA (The thick tar stuff)> It was not until I talked with my friend hoosier who recommended 8 - 10 drops mixed into 10ml PG and added at 3 - 5% to the mix, then reduce the hangen to 4 - 5% (Keep the total flavoring under 10%). Thats where I actually start noticing a difference . The TA was the primary tobacco note and the hangsen was the key flavor top note. Also note your mix may look a little cloudy but it sure works well.

I did start out incrementing tobacco flavors from 2% until I got to 7%. Well I did 2% and skipped right to 7% after reading all of Danny's posts in the Hangsen thread and it seemed perfect for me. I'm sure the 35 years of smoking did some damage so I probably have to compensate until my buds clear up some. Tho, I do love tobacco so maybe not.

Thanks Danny on confirming the increase in T/A. I'll add more and see where it gets me and reduce the HS. I really want the TA to come through :)

You know, I never tried TA by itself. Think I'll give it a go. I learn something new on ECF almost every day. Thanks guys.

It's a good foundation for all tobacco recipes. It's really the first thing you should try before mixing. It will give you the true essence of what the finished mix will taste like and allow you to make adjustments before you even begin your final tobacco mater peace. It's what confirmed me going againsed the rules and making my TA far stronger then what's normally recommended. A big thank you to hoosier for opening my eyes to that.

Holy-Moly! I went with 5%. This is truly an eye opener. Taste like a freshly opened pack of cigs smells like.

I upped to 8 drops TA to 5 ml. Can taste it now! 5% HS 2% TA.
This stuff rocks. Added to smooth and I think I've found the cig I've been looking for.

Now to find something in a coffee to mix up :)

I'm finding 8 - 10% in 10ml to make my concentrate then add at 4 - 7% to the mix depending on what I'm making does the trick. But play with the amounts in just a bace to find your sweet spot then start adding that mix to an already existing mix and WOW. Currently I'm using the rustica TA which is a slighty ash almost fruitish sweet taste and I'm also using the Virginia TA which has a dryer ash taste. Just for your FYI If you guys are using the former TFA TA your using the Virginia. I find the TA's really complement the hangsen tobacco flavorings.

Also don't be concerned if the mix looks a bit cloudy that's normal.

Start by mixing up your 10% concentration and then mix up plain bases. Start adding the concentration to the 5ml plain test bases at 4% - 5% - 6% - 7% then vape and compare them. This will give you an idea on what your working with and an idea on what to expect once you start adding them to the hangsen. By this point you will know exactly how much TA to add to the hangsen to achieve what you want the final mix to taste like.

So if you usually use 7% hangsen and want the TA to be the primary use 3% hangsen 4% TA
If you want the hangsen to be the primary mix 3% TA 4% hangsen.

Then adjust from there.

As it's already mixed down and ready to use start with 2% and test, if you can't taste it go stronger. I'm not sure of what WL's dilution ratio is. Our discussion here is mixing pure undiluted TA a lot stronger then what is usually recommended. The old mix down recommendation was 1 - 2% our discussions here are more like 8 - 10% so your mileage may vary.
