I suggest looking through the ECF library and watching MistressNomad's videos for newbies. She doesn't show all the types of e-cigs available but she has good advice on the brands she does have and use. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/120044-i-made-videos-newbies-particular-broke-newbies.html

Agreed. MistressNomad's videos are awesome, easy-to-understand, and she's very friendly...she makes the whole learning process less intimidating. I also like her no-nonsense approach. Definitely check them out.

Personally, I would recommend an eGo or Riva if you smoke 2 packs a day. You don't want to have to deal with your batteries constantly dying.

Yes the link from FireHorse is a good one. An older but broader one is here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/36180-wonderful-world-vaping-illustrated-guide-e-cigs-part-1-6-a.html There are six parts and the link is to the first one. Being 2 pack a day smoker are you out and about a lot or sitting in one place a lot. Reason I ask is about the battery you will need. If in one place near an electrial outlet a pass through can be used if you don't mind a cord. If mobile there are ego / riva / tornado / hello016 batterys for a 510 type which will work. Just look thru both links and then if you have questions about any of the types just ask.

Almost forgot Welcome to the fourm!!

Welcome illinoismom, we are glad to have you join us in your endeavor of vaping.
When you find different models you would like to see in action, go to youtube and type in the model/name and watch a few vids. Example is: Joye510 or Ego or KR808D-1. Come back here to this thread and post any questions you have, you'll get so many answers it'll make your head spin even more.
Do lot's of reading and asking. Also, look through the abbreviations thread to help you understand some of the lingo, it is here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/61195-abbreviations-26.html
If you find a word or abbreviated word you should see a dotted line under it, this means you can hoover you mouse on the abbreviation to get the word.
See you around.

DOes it need to look like a cig?? if it doesnt, then I would reccomend a riva, get an extra battery,at least 2 more atomizers(ATTYS)..and as far as juice, well,I order mine from freedomsmokesusa..I ordered some ry4,wyatt earp, and almond joy when I started..AND then just tell yourself you will be feeling better if you start vaping, and get off analogs..ANd you WILL start feeling better..OH,and while freedomsmokesusa has premixes, get a mix or 2 which is 100% PG,but that was for me as I really crave the TH(throathit)..VG is more vapor...or go 50/50..when you need more attys in awhile, try and get at least 2 reg attys and 2 LRattys(they give more warmth and MUCH more vapor and flavor)...or just order them to add to the 2 extras you order for a total of 4,but dont use them until you have gotten used to the reg attys.as it is too easy to burn out LRATTYS if you arent used to vaping..
GOOD LUCK,
Kevin

My perfect vaping experience is this:

eGo (or Riva or Tornado) for it's consistency of use, long battery life, and flexibility of finding parts. Also, it can be used with either the atty/cart method, the cartomizer method, or the drip tip. Parts are always available and easy to find.

I'd buy the following today if I had to do it all again:

the eGo for $52: Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Joye eGo
a couple of 510 drip tips for about $1.50 each" Mods - Drip Tips
a low resistance atty or two (the 510 fits the eGo) for about $7 each: Low Resistance Atomizers - Joye 510 Low Resistance
some cartomizers to try for $8 per 5pack: Xpress 510 Cartomizers & 306 Atomizers
some juice in a few different flavors and strengths (try 12, 18,and 24mg): Regular E-liquids

liberty flights coupon code: "ecf"

I made my choice off my life style..some days I may be away from home for 12-14 hours at a time.. So I needed a big battery. I didn't want to be refilling all day so I went with Cartomizers so I could fill a few in the morning and know I was good for the day..Then I looked at quality.. Reserached reviews and what experiences others had with the models that fit my needs...

Then comes time to order, order some options... IE a few cartomizers, a LR atty and a drip tip, several 5-10ml bottles of juice in various flavors. I recomemd 10ml cause it took me a few days of vaping a flavor to find out if I really liked it..

Once you find a system that works for you you will enjoy it much better..

For me, drip in the mornings and after meals and cartomizers the rest ot the time.. the Ego covered my battery needs (650mh) and gave me the option to up that to 900mh if I needed...

personally I wanted one that did not look in any way like a cigarette... Just one more way to break the cycle..

RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH..then it is trial and error till you get your system..

I would get an e cig with a good battery life. Like the eGo it is reasonably priced ant the battery should last most of the day.

Some other advice would be to order some extra liquid or prefilled carts.

Also it is a little difficult when you start out. For me it was like changing brands of cigs but after a few days you get to where you like it. I also had to keep reminding myself that the vapor had nicotine in it. I vaped like mad the first few days. To the point where I was light headed from the nicotine.

If you have any questions just ask and someone will help. It is better than making a mistake that could be costly. Weather it is costly in money or by not sticking with vaping.

It will be a little expensive at first but as long as you don't go crazy buying things with in a month and a half you will see that you are starting to save money.

Yes bigger battery. You will get annoyed with swapping batteries all the time, as it is a pain.

I would suggest a mod @ 5-6 volts to start. You will have to buy less in the long run.

I bought a JKY-306 (super-Mini), 901, 510, 510@5 volts w/passthrough (but 510 @ 5volts burned up many attys, as did 6volts) and finally settled on Chuck, then my happy place is Prodigy V2 @6 Volts with cartos that last HOURS with no topping off, and with swaps for quick flavor changes.

I just wish someone told me this then, but I know now.
