You have seen EGO a bunch, there is a reason for that and don't be mistaken no one here is trying to sell you on any one item as being best, but we have tried getting the cheap one and then bought the better once we saved enough money again. I love my EGO, and got it from my favorite supplier. You are in IL. so I recommend you check out Cignot.com as they are close to you. Vicky will give you excellent customer service, and if you send a note to her when ordering I am sure she will call or message you to make sure you have what you need to start. If you don't like what you get you won't be stuck with it, just put it in the classifieds on here. When you do place your order and get your PV jump on the forum and many will be happy to walk you through your first vape!

How ,many attys should I get as a newbie

Illinoismom, the 510 is a great starter kit - you'd do fine with it. The only problem is the battery life is so short that you have to re-charge the batteries every couple of hours. The eGo is basically the exact same thing but with a bigger battery that lasts all day (or about 8-12 hours).

But, if you stay at home most of the time it's not that big of a deal. It really just depends on your lifestyle.

As a newbie you should get about 4 atty's to start (I still have my original 5 from my first orders and I've only used 2 of them - none have died so far but it is a learning curve and also sometimes they die for no apparent reason) so in addition to the 2 you get in your kit, I'd get 2 more. And some juice. And I'd throw in a pack of cartomizers too - you might like them better.

Good Luck!

+1 on Cignot. Vicki was my first supplier (of GOOD products, lol), and I still order stuff from her. Legendary customer service, and lightning fast shipping anywhere in the lower 48.

illinoismom, don't get too hung up with "OMG, there are so many choices, whatdoIdo?????" right away. The important thing is a) Go with a reputable supplier that doesn't overcharge and/or sell crap. Cignot is one of the better ones, but there are others. b) Get started.

Cignot has a basic 510 starter kit for $35. Add some juice to get it over $60 (for the free shipping). Done... you're on your way. Should you decide that the battery life of the 510 isn't for you, you can get a PCC for $25, or upgrade to the Ego which uses the same 510 atomizers. The 510 series is one of the best performing, most popular model series around, but maybe the model just isn't "for you"... who knows? Maybe you'd like a KR808 better... but in any event you're out, what, a carton of smokes? Less than a week's worth for you? You'll have a better idea of what you need once you get started and have some sort of "base-line" to go from.

It's easy to get overwhelmed at first, I know. My advice is to just go ahead and jump in with a reliable, quality model from a reliable, reasonably priced vendor, and get going. Even if you immediately decide to upgrade, what looks like such a big purchase PALES in comparison to what you're spending on cigs. A pack of Marlboro lights in Skokie IL retails for $6.60 right now, x 2 PAD, x 30... $396 per month.

Suddenly a $60 cignot order doesn't sound so bad now, does it?

I smoke about 2 packs a day.

Oops!
Sorry, I forgot that part when I said the 510 would be a fine starter kit. If you smoke 2 PAD, you'll get frustrated with the 510 in about 2 days.

Definitely start with something bigger than that. When it comes to e-cigs, size really does matter. You simply won't be able to find a great all-day, powerful Pv in the size of a cigarette. Sorry 'bout that.

Take our advice and start with the eGo. YES, it's bigger than a cigarette and bigger than the 510, but it's the one that's going to work.

Illinoismom, Okay, so 2 packs and light cigarettes. My personal opinion is that a 510 is not for you, I think that it might be too harsh. I would suggest a 901 because that would put you in between the harsher vape of the 510 and the lighter vape of the 801.

I gauge vapers needs as follows.

If you smoke Marlboro or winstons I would say 510
If you smoke the above but in the light form I would suggest a 901
If you smoke menthol or menthol lights I would suggest an 801

As for your 2 pack a day habit I would suggest e-liquid with at least 18MG of nic

Good luck.

Yea..ego or the riva...both pretty mjuch the same as far as batterys...in order to run a LR atty I thik one needs a bigger battery that is at least 450mha?? If I am correct, and the rivas and ego are 650mha I believe...I vape ALOT throughout the day,and ONE riva battery keeps going pretty much all day..anything smaller and you are charging about every 3-5 hours( from what I have read)...My thinking about vaping is I didnt actually WANT something that looked too close to a cig as I am trying to get away from the "TRIGGERS" of wanting an analog..I just want the nico, and the riva works very well...Dont forget to GET JUICE when u order the system..you will want to get at least 4 I would say,,this can run about $20-$25 dollars with shipping...I especially like the almond joy...

I think you have great advice for the Ego...I don't have one but it is on my list. I have the Sidesho which is analog sized and a pain refilling and charging all of the time. I just ordered the Lux a couple of days ago for it's size and power but the Ego is definitely next on my list. For quitting analogs you need something with good vapor and that you don't have to charge and fill all of the time and from what I've read the Ego fits that description. Don't be afraid of nicotine strength either...I am kind of I first ordered 18mg and still lacking now I have 24mg and waiting for the better ecig to see if that's a fit for me. I ordered my last juice from Backwoods Brew and really like it...they have a lot of flavors and 10ml only cost $6.50 so you can order several flavors until you find one you really like that will help you get off analogs. That's my goal. I was torn between the Ego and the Lux and chose the Lux because the battery is larger and it is pretty.

you won't "need" anything else, but it's worth it to try out some cartomizers if you can - they're usually about $8-$10 for a 5 pack.

From experience of just ordering this kit earlier this month... Order a XL Ego cartomizer or 510 cartomizer to try, and no less than 20 ml of juice... The prefilled carts will not get you through more than a day or 2 of vaping and you (if like most) will find them to be a PITA... I ordered cartomizers to try when I ordered my kit and I am so glad I did.. The cartidges just were to time comsuming, messy and didn't cut it for me... I ordered 10 ml of juice with my kit and I almost ran out before my madvapes juice order got there 6 days later..

So add a Cartomizer and some e-juice and your good to go....

Can't go wrong w/ that. Heavier smoker's (1+ packs) should start w/ an eGo or equal 510 type. I for one like regular carts. Cheaper than cartomizer's, way cheaper
if you choose not to refill your carto's. Adding 10-20 drop's every 1-3 hrs to me is no bigger a pain than finding that lighter you just had a second ago or dumping the ash tray. Really read through this excellent forum. Look @ maintenance threads and the reviews. It's not so scary when you have a little info and all these great people to help you out. No matter what, vaping is a good decision. I smoked 23 yrs, started vaping a month ago and will never look back. Remember to plan ahead w/ an extra atomizer/carto and juice. It does pay for it's self pretty quick when you add up daily packs of smokes. Good luck to you and vape on! Oh, Joye is one of the best out there.

I wish...!

When I used carts I was digging around in there all day trying to make it wick. Continuous topping off and fiddling with cart filler. Now I just drip - so much easier (cheaper too)

I can see that. Blue foam w/ straw mod works ok. Maybe not 3hrs. Come to think of it, for me, more like 30 min lol. I still don't mind. Ahhh, one day I'll get that bottom direct feed journyman mod,one day.
