I used to use only pens for about two years but switched to a mod. I've had it for about three or four weeks and I started getting an error message that's not in the manual and the shop that I bought it from has no idea what to do about it. It just says "do not abuse protect!" and then doesn't let me take a hit. Has any one run into this problem with their mod?

I had this issue once with my Alien. Many times the ohms are set at say .500 but the tank or atti that you put in can be .210 but the device failed to ask you if you put in a new coil or not. Therefore I think that this causes the device to not recognize the new tank or atti so I it will say that message. The older Alien firmware 1.0.2, mine for example will only ask if it's a new coil when you change the batteries or when the device is on together with the display showing.

One little trick is to go into the mods and go to "download" and click yes by firmware update. The mod will turn off. When you turn it back on it will always read the coil for new or old. I think this is like a hard reset, for doing this took away that message.

But of course that message will come on when it is supposed to like if it senses a short in a coil.
