In preparation for the FDA Apocalypse...

So In preparation for the upcoming FDA war on us, I'm starting down the road of DIY ejuice. (AND YES I BELIEVE WE WILL PROBABLY GET SCREWED!) But that's another topic. I have purchased 100mg nic, VG and PG and a handful of flavors from wizard. My target size is 30ml bottles. I have the ejuice calculator and ready to roll. My question is, I want to breakdown the 100mg nic juice with 50/50 pg/vG to my planned strength of 16mg. This way I can add flavors to taste. I'm looking for a suggestion to reduce the size of my 1 liter bottle of 100mg nic into something less potent and ready to just add flavors.

My calculator is showing for 16mg (30ml bottle)
4.8ml 100mg nic
11.85ml pg
11.85ml VG
1.5ml flavor

I guess my concern is, each time I want to make a 30ml bottle, I don't want to drag out the 100mg stuff. For a couple of obvious reasons... It's expensive, dangerous and will be stored in the freezer! Any thoughts how to make this more easily manageable?

Perhaps the finished product might look like this..

48ML 100mg nic
118ml PG
118ml VG
(then just add flavor to each 30ml bottle as I use the above??)

Then I'm only storing under 300ml at a time and will be accessing this bottle probably once a week(safer than digging in the freezer)

How you guys dealing with 100mg stuff? Thanks for your help!

if you know you will always use 20% flavorings which is the norm, you can use the juice calculator for 30mls at 16mg nic and 20% flavoring then just mix the base without the flavorings. Then when you are ready to use add any combination of flavor totalling 20% for the 30mls volume.

I buy 100mg/ml Nic in 500ml size. When I receive it I break it up into 60ml Amber Glass bottles with polycone caps. I leave one out that I work out of (stored in a cool, dark place) and store the other bottles in the freezer. When I use the bottle up, I pull 1 out of the freezer (I let it come to room temperature before opening it). Hope that helps!

I do what Steve said. I buy big bottles and since they usually come in plastic anyway, I transfer them to smaller bottles and just keep one out for use. I'd do it even if they came in big glass bottles.
If you go ahead and make all your base, -your 50/50- it's a time saver, but if you make it all with the nic too, the nic % will go down depending on how much flavoring you add.

We do basically what Steve does with the nic (although our small freezer bottles are typically 120ml). All nic is transferred to glass immediately.

We also keep quart-sized jars in the fridge of our various bases (with and without nic).

Exactly the common thread here. I buy nicotine in 100mg by the liter. Break it down into 30ml glass amber bottles. Those bottles are in boxes in the freezer. I have one 30ml bottle I keep in the fridge to work with regularly. I got this info on how to do this from Wizard Labs. Also the info from Wizard labs said that it's been their experience that PG based nicotine breaks down slower than VG based, so I always buy PG based.

I just make 100 ml batches in Erlenmeyer flasks. It makes calculating ingredients very simple.

I bought mine from Wizard Labs when I bought the Nic. Since it put me over the $65.00 mark for free shipping, they were practically free. Probably can find better deals our there if your just buying bottles.

I don't like having all my Eggs in One Basket. So I take my 100mg Nicotine Base and divide it up into Smaller GLASS Bottles with Poly Caps.

Next. I don't Like Working around 100mg Nicotine Every Time I do DIY. So I take one of the Smaller Bottle of 100mg and make "Pre-Mix" out of it. Pre-Mix is Unflavored e-Liquid about 15% ~ 20% Higher than my Normal Day2Day e-Liquid Strength. And at a 15 ~ 20% Higher PG Level.

That way, all I need to do is Take my Pre-Mix, pour some in a 30 or 60ml Bottle and Add Flavoring. Easy Peasy.

BUT THE FIRST Thing I Do (and Many Times Overlooked by People) when I get Any Batch of Nicotine Base is to Make a Small Unflavored Test at Day2Day mg level and then Taste it to make sure it isn't Funky.

I've read Too Many Threads where People Struggle to Make a Recipe, or say that All their Recipes Taste like Gym Socks only to Find it is the Nicotine Base that Tastes Bad.

Think it Someone had a Doomsday Stash of 3 Litters of 100mg Nicotine Base and It Tasted like Week Old Street Tacos? But they Didn't Find Out About it Until AFTER Nicotine Was Banned.

Don't forget about the things that the e-Liquid goes into also.

I use CE2's as my D2D Clearo. When I saw that they were not going to be sold anymore, I bought 200 Directly from the OEM. Then, being the Back-Up to My Back-Up type person that I am, next Month I bought 100 More.

Things like 18650 Batteries, NiChrome Wire, Silica Wicks, PG, VG and Food Flavorings aren't going to be Effected by the FDA's Regs. But Cartos and Clearos will.

I too think many people are not paying enough attention to the component part of vaping. I've been stockpiling MT3S BCC clones for a while now along with wire and wick. It's not just going to effect the liquids.

Absolutely. I've been spending all my time (and money) lately buying up extra replacement bits and bobs for my mechanicals and rebuildables. Extra switches, posts, screws, rebuild kits, delrin inserts, etc. I believe good quality mechanicals and rebuildables will last a very long time with a little care and a lot of extra parts.

I would like to find solid quality mod's with regulated wattage that use standard i.e. replaceable batteries. Any suggestions? Currently I rely on MVP's. And how many would I need for 4-5 year stash?

Hey Gary, I think I'm cool with the component side of things. I'm a kayfun user so wire and cotton balls will be a non-event. I'll probably stock up on a few more kayfuns and some raw 510 connectors. Any plain jane battery mod can be made out of anything. As long as they dont touch my nic stash, I wont have to make a trip to DC to kick some stupid politicians .... ;-)

I've got some Kayfuns also. They do a very nice job for me as well. I just want enough other tanks to last through all my years of nic supply stashed away.
