+1, also people can talk behind your back and cause unnecessary negative actions to arises when it didn't have to. There are more weed & crack pipes out here than e cigs, until they are the norm I would advise caution in looking suspect . This is one of those times where something is not what it appears to be but the damage of the perception could inconvenience you in the long run.
That is my thought on the subject also, thanks for putting it in writing.

I'm probably a loud and obnoxious vaper, but I was also a loud and obnoxious smoker. :D And to clarify, since none of you actually knows me, I've always been respectful about non-smoking places and the rules others had for their own homes, but if someone tried to lecture me or comment negatively on my smoking, in a smoking area I would light up just to be perverse, and in a non-smoking area I'd excuse myself to have a smoke.

I do not now nor have I ever given a rat's ... about what people want to say about me behind my back. Friends won't, and the rest don't matter. At most, I might mention it to my boss in case he gets some odd reports from busy-bodies.

So there! :D

In that same vein, I'm not gonna go out of my way to NOT appear suspect. I like vaping in my car on my breaks and if that looks suspicious to some busy-bodies well... can't help that. I'm not acting paranoid like a crack addict and I'm also not standing up and crying "It's legal! I swear!" every time someone happens to find me vaping.

I was just putting it out there incase you where not aware that something could be mistaken. Like when I had to pull my friends coat about not posting on Facebook, that he's in Florida on vacation. He he goes why? And I say, do you want to come back to a house that has been robbed? Sometimes people don't realize what they do.

I told all the people I work with so that nobody thinks my pv is something its not, just because I work in a large office building. But I am nervous about seeing my sisters reaction next weekend when I show her, don't know why. I did have one guy at work look at me like I was crazy when I told him what it was, you just never know what kind of reactions you are going to get. If you feel better not advertisng it then don't, no reason to change your routine.

I appreciate your caution and it's well noted. I have considered it before, actually. I work in and around govt facilities with lots of security so I keep that in mind and I think I'm prepared if there are any questions.

I'm not of the opinion that all vapers HAVE to be public spokespeople for the industry or practice by being overt demonstrators. That's fine for some, and more power to them, but it's just not for me.

The bigger question for me is the personal aspect of not wanting to tell my friends. Call it insecurity! :)

It didn't take me long vaping before I realized that if you smoke cigarettes and think somehow that no one can smell it on you, you are so wrong. By the end of the first week of vaping I could smell smoke on people I didn't think smoked. I'm sure people always smelled it on me when I thought I wasn't smelling like a cigarette.

Oh, yeah, I was meaning to write a "Dear John" letter to analogs. In it I was going to mention how unfair it was that couldn't get the confidence to be engaging during a job interview without having a cigarette first but then I would have to worry through the whole thing that the person could smell it on me. That's just not fair!:nah:
