Kat when I first started vaping..about 4 months into it..we had a crisis with my mom who was living with us. Over the next month she passed away. What I did was walk..I walked like I was a crazy person..it relieved stress and keep me busy between hospital visits. I never had an e-cig out of my hand, I vaped in the hospital bathroom or mom's room once she had a private room.
All the tricks and tips in the posts above are great. What you have to remember is why you are vaping..just for you? To save money? Howabout for that fabulous kid! Yep, we have a winner!
Times of stress is a good time for your cravings to start screaming for a cigarette. Idle hands also chime in..remember this is a hand to mouth habit.
Eat sunflower seeds (low salt) Chew gum, eat something crunchy , like celery or no salt pretzels, start crocheting, get a book reader or maybe a hand held game player...anything to take your mind and empty hands off the cravings.
Once you pass the point of no return you will find that vaping is all you need and the mind games cigarettes once played on you will no longer work.
Good luck to you and love and Prayers for your son.
