See, I don't feel as though I've given anything up. I was so relieved the day our vapes came - I didn't WANT to smoke anymore, but my brain and hands wouldn't rest without that comforting hand-mouth-puff thing. I don't even feel as though I've quit smoking, I just do it a different way now, no different than when I switched from menthol analog to regular analog.
I love smoking, but it's the ACTION of smoking that I enjoyed, rather than the flavor, smell, or nicotine. PVs seem to fit all the actions of smoking well enough for me... for others maybe it just doesn't duplicate the experience as well.
For some people I'm sure it's the simplicity of dealing with something that's like an old friend. You want a smoke? You take one out and fire it up. No fussing, no mussing, when the pack is empty, you open a freshy. E-cigs require more attention and fiddling and experimenting, analogs require nothing but a flame.
That might be a part of it, come to think of it. We smoked roll-yer-owns for years before vaping. Roll-yer-owns require a higher level of upkeep and maintenance than buying straight packs, so maybe that's why e-cigs don't seem like any particular bother. I've spent nights rolling two cartons of cigarettes so we could go away for the weekend, so boiling a batch of cartos is no big deal to me. If you're used to just keeping a coupla cartons of Camels around, the simplicity of lighting up has to be way more attractive than getting a vape together.
Sorry for rambling... just following my own train of thought to a new place.
