Inactive session time out length

I use FF and think I have been logged on for 14 months straight............

More than likely something blocking your cookies then. Make sure ECF is allowed to set cookies in your browser.

Thats my guess. Ask Alex he is the ECF Computing God. He knows.

I have read that other members started having this problem immediately after linking ECF to their Facebook accounts.

I mostly use 2 computers to surf ECF , but I keep my loggin info in 4 computer, safari and IE, I have never get a log out unless I clean my browser

Weird. I have the same issue. BUT!!! My work laptop is running IE (I can't change or install a different browser...lame) and it happens all the time at work. At home, I have Firefox and I never have to log in. I don't get booted and I'm constantly logged in.

it could be the firewall at work ot the setting on that laptop

Nah, I clear my cache every time I close my browser. I think that there's a setting the admin has to authorize or change. Some other boards that I frequent have a "keep me logged in for xxxx minutes." displayed at the log on screen.

But if it's an admin setting, wouldn't it be happening to everyone? I'm on Chrome and haven't been logged out at all for at least a week, possibly more. Don't know what the issue is, but it doesn't sound like an admin setting to me

It could be related to privelidges. I'm just guessing here and need to spend some time reading the software's support documentation.

All I know is that it has happened to me since I started in January. I thought I was clearing history and all that. Today, I followed the instructions from Firefox (listed above) and I have now been logged in for 4 hours straight without getting timed out. Yoohoo!

Different forum software.

All problems relating to log-ins are due to errors in your browser configurations.

Try Google Chrome, even without administrator privileges you can install it.

Now to put an end to this thread.

The default for how long the cookie is stored is 1 year. (Hint: 1 year is longer then a few hours).

If you want to check this out feel free:

1. Firefox

Open Preferences, click on Privacy Tab, click "Remove Individual Cookie", type "e-cigarette-forum" into the search box, look for bbuserid / bbpassword, at the bottom it'll say "Expires:......"

2. Safari

Preferences, Security Tab, Show Cookies, Search for "e-cigarette-forum", look for bbuserid / bbpassword, find the column "Expires"

3. IE (Switch browsers, fast)

Download IECookiesView v1.74: Cookies viewer/manager for Internet Explorer to view cookie information. (Or switch browsers, I recommend switching)

4. Chrome

Preferences, Under the Hood tab, Content Settings, Cookies tab, Click "Show cookies and other site data", Search for "www.e-cigarette-forum", click on the little arrow, look for bbuserid / bbpassword, Look for Expires at the bottom of the dialog window.

5. Other

Most if not all browsers have a way to selectively remove cookies, somewhere around there it'll show the expire date of a specific cookie as well.
