What do you do with all the boxes vape gear comes in? I mostly mean tanks, because they usually come with a spare glass, so keeping it in the box makes sense. But when they start to pile up, what then?
I pull everything out of those boxes and transfer all the parts to plastic organizer boxes. Each manufacturer has it's own box. I then stack the organizer boxes in the closet. Each box is labeled and the contents inventoried in an Excel spreadsheet with high/low order points for things like coils, o-rings, spare glass, etc...

I always intend to do something like this.
I am low tech when it comes to storage. I use quart size storage bags and put a post-it-note in it with the relevant information.
But, this is a better idea to keep things basically organized as they come in. Especially orings and such that can easily get lost.

Unfortunately, I have not consistently done either. I do have some orings that I don't know what they go to. :(

Know what you mean. I have maybe half a dozen tanks so far and I'm already there.

That's pretty impressive. How many tanks are we talking about?

All original boxes and everything that came in them are kept stacked up on a shelf !.

So mods i'm not using, tanks i'm not using, spares, orings, glass. Best place for them. Why throw away a made to measure box. Usually they are fitted with foam rubber with the shape of the device cut out.

Why use anything else ?.

Or i could throw the boxes away then later on when i need to store them i could find something to store them in whilst thinking i shouldn't have chucked away the original box in the first place.

It's a no brainer.

Why, why, why, why, why ?

omg i'm dying at all the responses bwahahaha

me, i'm slightly ocd so everything goes back into the box it came in...i need a display case for all my vape stuff now, I had been putting the boxes into a bigger box and then had a little 3 drawer organizer for my vape stuff but I've long out grew that little activity/art box organizer thingie....
I saw a post on fb someone used a dresser to store their stuff in and I may just have to do that lol er well probably use my little side table sized filing cabinet that I'm no longer really using for anything...

Shoes for example. If i throw away the box they came in, which i don't by the way (i write the name of the shoe on all sides of the box, name and colour), i wouldn't be able to stack them. And they'd take up a considerably large amount of space. About one square foot of floor space for each pair, and no cupboard is big enough so forget that. I buy new Nikes every month. Where else would i store them ?.

If i stored tanks and mods in something other than their original box then i'd have trouble identifying them later on.

So maybe i should label them ?.

Then place them in a box which said "Mods" on the side ?.

So let me get this straight in my head.

I throw away the original box, which by the way would enable me to identify every piece of hardware i have in an instant, just to find another way to store them which requires me to label everything so i can find it when i need it.

Nerd alert !!.

Part of me is thinking, "Wow, that's a lot of tanks," while another part of me wants to say, "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!"
Large quantities for 2 basic reasons; 1) If I find something I like I order 4 or 5 more just in case the government shuts us down or they quit making the one I like and 2) It’s become a hobby or possibly an obsession. I do the same thing with mods. I have mods and tanks still in the original unopened boxes as back ups

A plastic box I keep in a closet nearby. Most of the time I don't need anything from boxes, but I keep every single box that I own, including mod boxes.

I used to do that and after a while I couldn't remember what tank were the spares for... I keep the boxes and then they become storage when not in use.

Heard that. I already have three of my first regulated mod and a Nemisis clone as a backup to those and it still doesn't feel like enough. I got into RTA's, etc. after the OBS Engine Nano was on the endangered list, so naturally I have to snag every one I can. Hence the thread.

If you're using RTAs and concerned about stocking up, get some extra replacement glass, decent grub screws, and a pack of different size o rings. Those are the points of failure. The only thing that can then still bite you is a press fit deck. That's harder to deal with yourself (although not impossible).

Of you're still worried, grab some inexpensive RDAs. Like mechs, they'll last forever if you take care of them. Again, other than replacement screws and I rings, nothing to really break.
