I have been stocking up on juices and will continue to do so because I read somewhere here that they have a shelf life of 2 years. That being said,I am wondering if all of the liquids have the same shelf life after I have tried several from different suppliers. For example, the the 15ml from PureSmoker are sealed(have to push a pin through to open top) but the whole top can be screwed off to pour out, others are in glass bottles covered in plastic(JC), and some are in plastic bottles that I just screw off the top and use. Hope this makes sense. I keep them all in a box that is away from heat and sun. Does anyone know which type of these bottles are best for long term storage? Glass vs Plastic? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've only had them for a month and they seem fine so far.
Thanks
Stephanie

Excellent question!

If the given shelf life is 2 years from the factory, don't we need a date on the product?

If I buy something fresh and can expect it to last 2 years, great, but under what conditions? Refrigerated? Sealed? How long will it last after I open it/expose it to air?

Does the rule hold true for all the products or just some?
If the banana flavor lasts as long as the actual fruit... why bother. :p

Personally, I think it's like anything else I buy that's perishable. When in doubt throw it out.

Or you could use my girlfriend's method. Give the item in question a sniff, then hand it to me and say, "Does this taste funny to you?" :w00t:

Wicked smart that girl.

What worries me more than the losing or spoiling of the flavor is the prospect of losing the nicotine - the essential part for the addict in me. ;)

Over a year ago when I first started looking into e-cigs, I read at e-cig.com that one year was about it for the nicotine content. So as much as I want to stockpile, I hestitate out of concern for that, even though I don't know how authoritative an estimate as to shelf-life that is.

This is just another thing we haven't been told by manufacturers -- and don't know. In the Health New Zealand tests, Dr. Laugesen measured the accuracy of the nicotine content. It is close. Not exact, some would note, but close.

We need him to do the same measurement a year later. He needs to test a vial that was unopened, and one that was opened to air and then recapped. The test would be for nicotine (spoilage would be unlikely).

I've often wondered how much and/or how fast the nicotine dissipates from the liquid under different conditions. We all might be inhaling zero nic and wondering why there's no kick!

As the weeks have gone by my bottle of 36mg does seem to give me much less of a hit.......I can understand the possibility that I might be vaping too much during the day and getting a nicotine tolerance....but I would have at least expected the first vape when I get up in the morning to give me quite a hit because nicotine leaves the body quickly......I am interested in seeing if I get a bigger hit from a freshly opened bottle when it arrives.

Revealed: the nicotine fix - News - The Independent

Several big US and British tobacco companies have experimented with adding nicotine to finished cigarettes, either by spraying it on, injecting it into the wrapper or by including it in the filter tips. Nicotine is a highly volatile compound and has a short shelf-life, dissipating rapidly unless "fixed" in a chemical compound. The dots sealed the nicotine until exposed to moisture or heat. They also allowed the cigarette manufacturer to control the position on the cigarette at which the cigarette would deliver the most nicotine.

Nicotine(Shannxi Tianze Biological Technology Co., Ltd.),china supplier,exporter,China
Storage: Store in cool & dry area, keep away from the direct light and heat. Cryopreservation Shelf life: Two years if properly stored. Action and Uses: Nicotine is absorbed through the skin and mucosal lining of the mouth and nose or by inhalation in the lungs. Depending on how tobacco is taken, nicotine can reach peak levels in the bloodstream and brain rapidly. It is a potent neurotoxin with particular specificity to insects; Therefore nicotine was widely used as an insecticide in the past, and currently nicotine derivatives such as imidacloprid continue to be widely used.

My guess is that cryopreservation means cryogenic freezing
