You should not have to mash the button hard to get the Mini to fire. Make sure you are just pushing enough to make contact. You can test this easy with the cap off the RM2 and watching the coil when you push the button. Just push till it makes contact. Too much pressure on the button can over time wear the firing mechanism. It will also have the tendency to push the battery to the side and make contact difficult.

A coil of 1.5 to 1.8 should be fine on the Mini. I run mine around 1.2. The drawback is the battery will not last long at all.

Worst case scenario you send the RM2 and Mini to Robert for a check. He can spot any problems and get it back to you quick.

Roberts instructions should be the very first thing done when the REO arrives. If there are problems particular attention should be paid to this:

I have two 14500 Minis that I use hornets on - I use my RM2 on a VVGrand. I use 30g and wrap to about 1.5-1.9 ohms usually preferring 1.7ish. Those little batteries have to work pretty hard and won't have long life. I wonder if using 28g is part of your problem. It takes longer to heat 28g.

You can also check your post screws. Be sure they are snug, but not so much as to cut the wire. If a screw cuts the wire, you'll need to remove the screw and file the sharp edges.

Just another tip from my own learning and observations: After installing a fresh coil and securing it with the screws, I always touch/flick the leg tails before cutting off the excess. More than once I've noticed the coil move indicating my screws, which I thought were snug, were really not and therefore not making good contact. Intermittent contact makes a lousy vape.

Not saying this is the problem with yours but sharp screws can cut the wire inside the post causing intermittent contact. It'll look like it is intact but in fact it is loose inside the post. It has happened to me on more than one occasion. I've taken to filing the screw end smooth and round.

I had two Grands that started missing on me. I tried some Noalox. Better but not good.

I put a grinding wheel on my Dremel and hit the firing points. I don't recommend this without lots of caution! There were metal shards flying off!

Put on a little Noalox and they are back to working great. Point is sometimes you really have to file that point good.

Don't have a dremel unfortunately. I hit the crap outta that contact with a nail file (best I got at the moment) and slathered some noalox on there, made a bit of difference, but still missing every so often. Is the firing pin adjustable at all? How far out under the button should it protrude? Looks to me like it might be a little short? I don't know if you can tell from this pic, but it doesn't come close to the center of the button, just seems to catch the edge. Little noalox smeared around the area, cleaning that up a bit!

I think that may be my issue, the position of my pin is way farther inside the delrin plate and seems to end farther out on the button.

Some people using low or sub-ohm coils have had experiences of the bottom of the button melting. I do not know if this is something that might have happened with the Mini's previous owner.

If it were me I would send it to Robert and let him do a thorough check of the Mini. He can do a repair if that is what is needed.

A rebuild kit will have all the parts you need to make it "new" inside. Of course that is an option.

I purchased a few classies REOs. Some have come from having had a lot of button mashing deforming the firing plate so it doesn't hit on battery button top just right. Also, with button mashing, especially if someone used flat top batteries instead of button top the firing "bar" can become "flabby." Not sure how else to describe it. The metal gets stressed over time and loses some spring. I'm time stressed now but I'm sure someone will come along who can give you some directions to help it some. Otherwise a rebuild kit will cure issues.

I rarely purchase classies REOs, with the exception of Wood REOs, unless they are special ones, like "vintage" and/or no longer available finish I don't have, or extraordinarily low price as, by the time one purchases the rebuild kit and postage on it, the price comes close to new REO from REOsmods. Not saying it's a bad idea to purchase used REOs but I usually expect that I'll have to buy a rebuild kit for any that are used which adds $20 to the purchase cost.

Please send the mod to me I will repair it and send it back asap. Please put
a note with your email address and a brief description of the problem .Also
empty any e juice in the mod and remove the bottle .It helps to put a tissue
or napkin around the tube .
