Not sure what the deal is, sometimes my Prodigy just craps out and will not work, at most it will create a barely visible wisp of vapour (literally, barely visible) and then nothing again.. Fresh batteries, working juiced up atomizer, everything. Then USUALLY Ill unscrew the stuff look around, screw it all back together again and sometimes it just randomly starts working fine again.. no such luck yet this latest time though.

Is it a loose connection, something Im doing wrong or does life just hate me or something?

Casey has mentioned that when she has a Prodigy that's not working, she takes it to Steve and he can usually get things working just by loosening up the adapter an eighth of a turn. Maybe it's worth a shot.

I've noticed that if I don't keep the connectors between the atty and the adapter clean and free of juice I get some loss of performance. However as soon as I clean it out its back to championship vaping.

I hope it works out for you.

Sounds like a battery connection problem, if you are sure that your batteries are charged, then i would say its a battery connection issue. I am not sure what PS would recommend for this, but bending in the end of your spring toward the center worked for me.

Sounds like it could be any number of things:

1) Blow the atomizer out atleast once a day to get all the excess crud/juice out. Then wipe down the atomizer and adapter threads and clean the resevoir on the sides with a papertowel or cool little sponge thing WV has posted above.
2) Battery contact
3) Crud build up on adapter and/or end cap threads.

I can't remember who suggested it to give credit, but I've been mashing the heads of Q-Tips flat with a pair of pliers, then using that to get the reservoir. Works friggin awesome. I'd imagine there are lots of ways to mash a Q-Tip flat also. High heel and a rock, two bricks, etc.

I've had the same problem, and like everyone else has already said when it happened to me, the problem got fixed by cleaning the contacts, blowing the atty. Sometimes screwing the end of my precious, where the battery coil is and screwing it back on does the trick. So far no major issues **knock-on-wood** So in love with it that I'm gonna try the 801 atty and ordered an adapter. I almost feel it is too powerful for my 510! I hope I like the 801 :-?

I am having the exact same problem, even the carely visible wisp of vapour when I insert and reinsert the batteries than it does nothing, can't get it to work since yesterday with fresh batteries inserted twice, cleaning of atomizer and around the contact point. Well I will try again with the cleaning but I am very unhappy at this point that I can't use my Prodigy.:(

i need to check, but i'm thinking that these are similar to little makeup stick/sponges. not sure if they are cheaper, but i'm thinking it's the same material. i will grab some tonight and see :)

it took me forever to find those sticks in Hobby Lobby, and as reference i found them over with the pencils and pens.

only reason i thought of the makeup sponges are because they'd be a bit smaller for "on the go."

I had this same issue when I first got my Prodigy - very little vapor and no uumph to it. It was definitely frustrating.

I finally isolated it to the charger that came with my Prodigy not working right. It wouldn't fully charge the batteries, even after several charges the batteries would only get a wushy charge.

When I switched to the cr2 3.0 volt batteries and the cr123a 3.6 volt batteries - that's when my Prodigy started working like it should.

I posted this in another thread:

"fwiw, I have been taking multimeter readings whenever I have to swap out the batteries. I have, interestingly enough, found they start with a reading of about 3.35 (sometimes 3.75) and when they need to be replaced, they exhibit on average a 2.25 - 2.40 reading.

Also, I have found that the battery closest to the adapter is the one to lose most of its charge while the distal battery has only lost a very small amount."

I have noticed some inconsistent chargings as well with the charger that was shipped with the prodigy. So far I have just one battery that is not accepting a charge. I am still testing to see if it's the batteries or the charger itself being the source of this intermittent issue.

I don't have a multimeter, so I assumed it would be the charger since all 4 of the batteries I got with my Prodigy weren't giving a good vapor output.

I also tried switching the batteries around and in different combinations with the Prodigy and there was no difference in vapor output.

But who knows, it might have been bad batteries.

Yep, took me forever, also. And just like you, in with the pencil, chalk and pen painting supplies.

sigh.

second update. the makeup ones i found have no rigidity to them. the foam tips are just foam, nothing supporting them, so they just bend and fold and seem useless.

i'm guessing the art ones have rigid tips supporting the foam heads?

Yes, they do. Plus you can rinse them out and reuse them when they start to get a little gruddy.
