I am fairly new to clearomizers, so I had a question about indicators that your clearomizer may be about to fail.

I noticed that one of my clearomizers was much cooler when I vaped and the flavor was muted, so I decided it was time to clean it. It took much longer than usual to get to the point where it was glowing inside and once it did, the glow was much fainter than usual. Is this an indication that my clearo is about to die? If so, I don't want to put too much liquid in it.

On that note, does anyone else have other indicators that clearos are about to die?

Well...not exactly die, but reaching the end of its usefullness. The reason the glow is fainter is because of gunk on the nichrome and the fact that as the burn, they get thinner due to burn off. After a while I stopped dry burning my coils..you're just destroying them! My advice is to get a GOOD soldering iron and learn to make your own coils. ALOT cheaper than buying a whole new pack.

Well in my experience the first sign of failure is usually vapor reduction. Since the objective of these devices is to produce lots of vapor the only sign of failure has to be declining vapor production and flavor. If it tastes burnt then it has already failed since the components should never burn making vaping uncomfortable or not enjoyable. Cleaning these things is really a waste of time and burning them off just destroys them. I would suggest upgrading to Visions Version 2 clearos (stardusts) with replaceable heads. These are cheaper to replace the part that diminishes (coil and wicks) without having to buy the whole unit. Be sure you are purchasing the right ones (long wicks and replaceable head). Hope this helps.;

Sorry all, but in my opinion and experience, the term "Clearo Failure" is redundant. As for your question, mine usually don't fail until I put juice in them.

Clearly, I'm jaded.

They cost $4-$7! Of course they will fail after a while. They are disposable. If anybody came up with a lifetime-lasting cart/carto/clearo, two things would happen:

... they would make a killing at first, but never have returning customers. Bad business model.
... they'd be run out of town by vendors who bank on these failures

With the easily rebuildable clearos (not talking about "rolling your own") and easy replacement innards at $2.95 or less, I don't see any reason to be disappointed.

I haven't used those, but in general the vapor quantity will start dropping off and taste will become more muted as the coil gunks up. SI claims a couple weeks of useful life. I found it almost impossible to clean a gunked up coil and never had much luck with dry burning. For a clearo with the same form factor, I recommend the Vision EGO 2.0. Much easier to clean and the coil heads are simple/cheap to replace. A lot better way to go.

I'll clarify. I'm not saying they're bad for everyone. I'm saying they suck for me. Tried a bunch of different varieties; hated them all. And every single one of them leaked, quickly and sometimes arbitrarily. But, again, this is for ME. MANY people that I know LOVE them. And I get that. But I do hate them.

One beauty of vaping, at least today, is there's always something else out there.
