Indigo Vapor's Calypso
Nicotine: 24 mg
PG/VG: Proprietary
Age when tried: 1 month (and various times before that)
Color: Log Cabin maple syrup.
devices: Evod on a Vamo V5 @ 6, 8 and 10 watts.
Description from site: "Come join us for a carribean [sic] party! A mosaic of cocoa, tropical fruits, and a fine smooth tobacco!".
When I put together an Indigo Vapor order a month or so ago, I was mainly looking for RY4s and similar juices, but when I read the ad copy above my curiosity was piqued -- tobacco, cocoa and tropical fruit is a rather unique mix. So I ordered a bottle on a lark.
I'm very glad I did!
This is a wonderful, full-bodied tobacco liquid with just enough sweetness and a healthy dose of complexity that keeps me coming back for more. Every time I fire it up I think "Cigar!", especially on the exhale. That speaks well of it, I think. This juice really satisfies.
On top of the tobacco base float at least two additional flavor notes. One may be the faintest whiff of cocoa, but if I hadn't read it in the description, that probably wouldn't have occurred to me. The other is something vague and subtly fruity. I can't discern anything tropical here at all. This leads me to only give Calypso a 3/5 on authenticity, but that's really not important when dealing with a new invention (it's a different matter when you sell a juice as "red apple" or "RY4" and it tastes nothing like these things).
What matters above all is flavor, and Calypso is a real winner. Whatever the flavor notes are, they complement the tobacco incredibly well, and form a solid, harmonious whole. It has a nice, strong throat hit, too.
If I were Indigo, I'd feature the hell out of this juice -- I think a lot of people who are looking for a solid cigar will love it.
Flavor: 5/5
Authenticity: 3/5
TH: 5/5
